  1. Thank you Tamwell, and as a fellow designer I am sure you realise the time involved in creating a monogram font from scratch that had its roots in the 60s/70s. This font no longer exists so it’s not as simple as selecting it and typing MFC into Adobe Illustrator. It had to be redrawn from old photographs and made to look like a proper font. I’m not the best designer in the world, however, I have always had pride in my work.
  2. I can assure you I was wide awake and completely sober. The monogram is a copy of a bespoke font installed in the old 1960s/70s stitching machines used by Umbro. So if you don’t like the style/font blame them, not me. I was merely copying the style of the time.
  3. Thanks for the compliment, however, I can assure you that no felt tip pens were harmed when I was commissioned to redraw the retro script font for the club. With your in-depth critique I assume you have a degree in typography/graphic design?
  4. On first impression I’m reasonably happy with both kits. The away is very A.S. Roma who are masters of the classy C&A kit . I’m not 100% sold on the thin claret collar on the home top and I’m slightly disappointed it’s not a full claret hoop (or not that I can tell). I n my opinion claret socks with an amber turnover would have suited the away kit rather than all amber.
  5. If only all kit releases were as simple as this one. Pre season friendly. season 1960-61
  6. The majority of punters will probably agree with you as they only see it as an functional work uniform for eleven + guys to wear at their day job. As a kit design fan I always look forward to ours and other kit releases.
  7. The promo images which are shot will also be used on the club shop to sell the replica kit. They will require the sponsors logo to be on them so it’s better to have it complete with the logo than not. Also the sponsor is paying good money for the space and they will want their brand showcased wherever possible.
  8. For all we know there may be a JAXX style agreement where the BetPark logo is replaced by a kid friendly sponsor on the junior kit. This will also need to be printed before release.
  9. I suspect it’s due to the new sponsor having to be printed on the existing stock.
  10. Their kit each year is a bespoke sublimation. Similar to what we do, however, they always sublimate a full red diamond, whereas we normally only sublimate a front “advertising” band. We could print a full hoop, although, it has become rarer over the years. It’s not often I say that Airdrie get it right more than us.
  11. To be fair we do at least get an “advertising” band most seasons. However, I would much prefer a proper full bold claret hoop as that makes it more of an integral part of the design. Just ask Boca Juniors fans what a proper bold hoop means to them. Airdrie have stood firm over the years through various kit manufacturers when they could have easily opted for generic team wear with no full diamond.
  12. Bradford have also controversially switched from amber to pale yellow. I can’t see that going down too well with the C&A diehard fans.
  13. The new Bradford City home top contains more black than usual...
  14. I do love those shirts, they remind me of the stunning Roma18-19 pre match shirt.
  15. There have been quite a few white away kits this year so I’m expecting us to buck that trend and opt for a mainly claret away with “gold’ trims.
  16. You might not be too far out with that one. I suspect traditionalists will not be too happy with the new kit as the rumour is they are something a little bit different from our usual. I’m expecting a sublimated pattern of some sort as Macron do love that technique. Thank god I no longer buy replica tops.!
  17. With the sponsor having been announced, I would imagine it’s only a matter of time before the new kits are unveiled. With it being a online betting company the kids shirts will more than likely be sponsorship free, unless they can find an alternative solution.
  18. We are in no position to turn down sponsorship money from betting firms. Sadly online betting is big business and we just need to accept that times have changed in the shirt sponsor market.
  19. I assume the kids shirts will either be blank or have another sponsor. Betting companies and alcohol brands are not allowed on kids shirts.
  20. My opinion on betting or payday loan sponsors is well known, however, if they are paying us an obscene amount of money that will soften the blow.
