I agree, it’s never going to happen. In all the years I have supported Motherwell this has only happened on a few occasions and even when it did the players were usually in the twilight of their careers. Yes no matter who we bring in there is no guarantee that they will deliver and we can only hope there is another Moult lurking in the January sales.

A massive game for us, we need to take all three points to ease the pressure going into the break. No excuses, the run we have been on is relegation form and if we don’t turn it around soon another premiership survival battle is on the horizon. The players need to man up and prove that they are worthy of a place in the side, if not, they know where the door is. I’m sure like Louis Moult there will be others who will jump at the chance at the platform we offer to help them further their career in the game.

Going by the brief highlights I watched on the BBC our strikers appear to lack belief in front of goal. They appear to have consigned themselves to missing the target before they have even connected with the ball. That’s one thing we will miss about Moult is his belief that he will always score. I really hope Robinson has an ace transfer target up his sleeve, if not we could be in trouble going into the second half of the season.

Amazing how fortunes can turn in such a short space of time. Certainly Rangers form has been erratic, however, our form has been more problematic to solve, mainly through injuries and the loss of our talisman. So Anderlecht managed to do what no other Scottish team has done in 67 games and beat the ‘invincible’s’. I’m sure this won’t be the only time they will suffer defeat in Europe as at that level they are pretty ordinary.

I’m normally not too bothered about other Scottish teams in Europe, however, although unlikely I hope Celtic get pumped by Anderlecht.

There are no easy games in this league and you need to be on it every game. If we drop below our usual standards we will get what we deserve, nothing. However, I’m tipping us to bounce back from the Celtic defeat and I’m going for 1-0 to the good guys.
