My Partick Thistle mate said the same thing when Rangers scored a late winner against them.

I thought O'Halloran caused us all sorts of problems with his direct style of play. I would be surprised if Rangers, let him come here on loan as he is still an asset to their side.

In the 50 odd years that I have watched Motherwell, we have never looked comfortable holding on to a lead against the Old Firm. We could be winning 3-0 with a minute to go and we would still endeavour to lose it 4-3. it’s the Motherwell way.

I think it was 2-2 in the first leg. We also beat Morton in a replay at Ibrox in 1969. I remember going with my dad. I think Jumbo Muir scored the only goal.

Our cup record is poor, however, with our recent history I would rather be going into a game as underdogs than favourites. I spoke to my Thistle mate last night and he said that Rangers were dreadful against them and only snatched the three points with an undeserved injury time goal. With that in mind, we have a decent enough squad to win this one and hopefully progress into the next round. However, in order to achieve that we will need to be at our best. A hopeful 2-1 to the good guys.

I agree we should aim for that. You never know we might just managed to attract some lapsed fans back if we start performing like we should. It also looks like Hibernian will be back soon and they have brought some big supports through in the past.

It would probably still be half empty, except for a few games against Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen and Hearts.
