Tis a pity Glennie looks like he is getting bummed by Mitch, and enjoying it!

Good stuff. Shame we couldn't do this in more important ties earlier in season but look to the future. Hope Murphy finishes the season strongly and can impose himself on the team for next season. Was bit in and out of games at times this season but if he can keep progressing he looks sort of player that can provide us with a bit of spark and creativity.

A bit of foresight and they maybe would have planned a slightly shorter campaign that wouldn't get interupted by mentalist SPL fixture scheduling, something by now everyone should almost take for granted. And indeed if the photies at least showed something a bit more recongisable then it would have been executed better also. I think it is pointless, but it was made worse by making a pigs ear of it as well. There gonna be an exlcusive picture in the programme, and then oh it a blob of amber but worry not three more blobs like pics later and you might have half a clue of what the kit looks like. It won't generate one extra sale. What will generate sales or not will be if people like the damn thing, end of! If this campaign thing has hooked your interest in a postive looking forward way then fair play to you but I'd almost cry tears of frustration at anyone that gets that easily excited. What mental age are you, and what is it like to be that easily pleased?

I disagree, find the whole idea a bit sad and pathetic really. Yes I am keen to see the new shirt but then again I always am regardless of 2nd rate advertising campaigns.

The thing that sticks out like a sore thumb for me is that we have our last game on a set date and the players are immediately off the next day on their break. Now don't get me wrong I don't begrudge them a break after a hard season but why are they not contractually obliged to be available for end of season events? If the club wants a POTY/end of year dance/presentation dinner kind of event it should surely be easy enough to plan it around the first weekend after the definate last date of the season and host it then, instead of worrying about post split fixtures and organising it in haste and under considerably more organisational pressures. By all means when the season ends let them take it easy, but can putting off their foreign holidays be that much of a hardship?

We're In Line For A Uefa Place Just Now........
Malky79 replied to mfcsuperwell's topic in Club Chat
Winning the cup, euro place or not is still something and I agree worth more than just getting into europe on back of being a runner up, but I still think it entirely deserves to have the winner pick up a european place. It does give it something extra and makes for healthy competition. It is embarassing that we've been represented by 1st division teams of late, but only because they showed up the rest of the SPL teams who couldn't make even make it to the final. Regardless of division status barring the odd exception Scottish clubs outside the old firm have been getting no where in europe for years anyway. -
Still a fud more than likely! :-)

Well if he landed in Toronto he didn't stay very long. Given how appallingly poor Bradford were I think we might be making a bit to much of Maman. That said I'd still take him ahead of Bob Malcolm if offered the choice!
-
I'd have agreed with that comment if he sustained the first half of last seasons form on into this, but seeing that isn't the case I have to disagree. Naysmith was a far superior player, kept Rab McKinnon out the Hearts team after he returned from a successful enough spell with Twente Enschede and Weir was also a far more consistent performer in the SPL than Quinn. That said if he puts his mind to it I could see him doing well at least top end Championship if he avoids trouble and injury.
-
Far as I can tell he isn't. I mind him being on trial there but that seems to be as far as it went. May have been some passport issues, but having had a bit of a look he appears to be a free agent.
-
You could have cut that sentence short with saying giving Malcolm a wage packet is plain mental. From what I can gather Maman is still without a club, if he was that good you'd think someone have snapped him up by now.
-
Aye but will it happen that way. I'd be quite surprised if we don't stick with more or less usual team. So fingers crossed we get a win, other results go our way and there no pressure to get 7th and McGhee could then without any fear try out whoever he thinks might have something to offer.
-
Chances are one win will be enough to secure 7th place. Hopefully we get that in the bag first time out and gradually introduce some younger players and see how they get on. If it means just one guy doing a job and giving the manager something to think about it'll will have been worth it.

I dunno I think moving to a clear secular path to attract the growing athiest market, away with potential fundamentalists of any religious persuasion!!! Also apparantly loads of police claim to be jedi's, they really run done that ones credibility! :-)

If you even remotely give a toss about the greater good and scottish fitba as a whole then you should be fine with it. As it is a Well fan our club would likely be a net beneficiary. I'd be over the moon if the clubs went back to splitting gate receipts. As well as more equitable sharing of TV money. The bigger clubs would still be able to generate extra commericial revenue over the smaller ones but with gate/TV money split more evenly throughout the game I think we'd have a much more level playing field and a better competition. As mentioned further down, it takes more than 2 teams to make a league and our league as it is it dying on its arse.

Not sure I'd be quite so whole sale with the changes. Would certainly like to see younger players that are on the first team fringe, Murphy and Saunders spring to mind certainly. Is there any point in giving Fitzpatrick and Smith a run unless they definately part of first team plans next season? If so get them in for a few games also and other youngeters that impressed for u19's/reserves I'd at least like to see get a run out off the bench if not starting. So at a push I guess the team I'd like to see start on saturday would be something like Smith Saunders Quinn McLean Hammell O'Brien Lasley Klimpl Fitzpatrick Clarkson Murphy Despite expecting Smith to be away I get feeling our young keepers aren't about to breakthrough so stick with him. I don't forsee that line up as a team for next season but given we need to have a versatile squad a few games in centre for Quinn might be useful and Saunders given a few games seems fair enough afte a couple of decent showings earlier in season. Definately think Murphy also deserves a few starts to try and make an impression.

Speaking of dregs of humanity, you walked through Motherwell town centre during the day lately it a depressing sight!
-
For all the risks I'm willing to give it a try. I'll even help them pack.
-
Only reason I can think is that they looking to cut costs. Hughes disappointing though he has been(this season compared to last) could probably do least as well for them as Barry Ferguson in recent times for half the money, perhaps.
-
No but that comment sums you up a fucking pedant, ok so it was the post not the bar. No one was helped by saturdays line up but Hughes has had an indifferent season regardless.
-
I've seen plenty of not unwarranted criticism last few days, but I must have missed the calls for his head?
-
If by class act you mean he strolls about ineffectually for bulk of game then you'd be right. Hughes this season has almost turned into a Brian Kerr clone. Was probably far from his worst game on saturday Hughes but other than a shot pulled wide and being unlucky to see a headed effort late on hit the bar what exactly did he do that was so great. I don't recall seeing him demanding the ball, spraying the passes about or creating much?
-
I also think it is in no way reasonable for us to expect him to have progressed or even mainained such a high standard under the constraints he had. Losing McCormack to start, though his and Leitch's much improved deals must have eaten into the budget also. My criticisms are around just how far back we've fallen, the bizarre tactics in big games, the complete abandonment of last seasons style for two months when he kept Sutton and Porter as a partnership that just wasn't working and using injuries as an excuse. No doubt they didn't help us but even so I felt he was making things worse at that time where even one or two more points gleaned makes the difference between this season being a qualified success rather than a qualifed failure.
-
Absolutely agree, last season has a very good case. This season, anyone? 4-0 at tannadice is one stand out result I can think off, and quite gutted I missed that but even that from what I heard good though we were it was still nothing like as good as the examples posted from last season. Ill timed I'd say McGhee was, maybe feeling a wee bitty defensive at the moment?
