I used to sit in the F section and never even noticed that sign. Yes the seats are probably predominantly taken up by season ticket holders but there is a fair few that aren't and updating on a year basis which seats are or aren't season ticket seats is something that should be a small priority to let everyone enjoy a slightly more hassle free experience. there is always the odd banger that tries to sit in your seat, but most of the time I daresay it is because we all know just how haphazard and seemingly inacurate the reserved badges on seats are in recent times.

Stuff and nonsense. You could make a case for last seasons team on some of their performances but even then the McLean teams 89-91 and 93-94 era for me are ones I enjoyed watching most, can't speak for teams from 69-86 but I daresay teams with Wark and Pettigrew at their peak might also have a shout. Been said a few times, we do know how McGhee likes to talk things up!

Also been trying to block out saturdays game. To my reckoning we were the better team first half in that we controlled possession and played the game more in their half. However we constructed what one or two notable efforts on goal at most and at half time they had had the clearer cut opportunities most notably Dargo going through one on one on our keeper. The second half seemed to start in a similar vein but by 5 or 10 minutes in we were clearly doing nothing and crying out for changes, which you could argue we did by shifting Quinn to right mid, O'Brien to left and Hammell back to left back but it wasn't enough to stop the game turning away from us and it came as little surprise that they scored. We then got a couple of belated subs but we still seemed to lack any sort of cohesion and the second goal just sugar coated it for St.Mirren. Started poorly and got worse about sums it up.

Anyone seen the player mentioned in this article? Lower league frees being our likely shopping location of choice. :-)

Lol damn it you beat to it there, indeed if we could be allowed to field 12 players we could be onto a good season!
-
Not sure I agree Tweed, not saying any or all what you suggest aren't useful or not needed but we have a keeper coming in, we got 3 fit centre halves which is one more than we started with this season yes if Hughes and Klimpl go then there replacements certainly jump to the top of the queue. Lasley can come back in but certainly don't fancy him and McGarry as first choice next season. However we sorely lack a natural left sided midfielder. I like Fitzpatrick but good work horse though he is I don't see him quite being the answer. Paterson or Lappin might be. I'd prefer Lappin I fear the size of Jim's waistline after being so inactive this season. But either or could be very decent additions.

As always would like to see some young players blooded. Games might not mean a lot to us but they'll be up against some hungry opposition and could be some good games without real pressure to see how they cope in the trench war fare of SPL fitba. The hope is at least with a few youthfu players in theory hungry to impress they might inspire the more experienced lads around them to put in the effort and least see us out with a few wins and some reason to be cheerful for next season.

Was thinking of tagging this onto In's and Out's thread but think it worth a thread of its own. Within reason what team do you want or expect to see start first game of next season? Hard to nigh on impossible to predict new faces and be sure who will or won't be around but roughly what you want to see? For me the the biggest dilemma is how do I want to see the team line up, othodox 4-4-2 as we kinda shifted back to or attempt the free flowing 4-3-3 system. I'm gonna assume Smith is gone, Hughes to stay and Klimpl joins up. Fraser Quinn Craigan McLean Hammell Lasley Hughes Klimpl O'Brien Clarkson Murphy Hoping and expecting to see some new faces come in to freshen up the squad further. A left sided midfielder that is more rounded than Fitzpatrick, a striker that can maybe lead the line a bit better than what we have just now would be nice.

Can I just point out for you and anyone else that not read my post properly I didn't suggest he should resign nor am I calling for his head.
-
The deal before that was agreed, if we can negotiate up we can negotiate down. Not saying McGhee would and if I was him I'd probably do a Fred Goodwin and say get to, but point I making is I think for all the good he done us he very much not value for money at the moment. But I'm fickle.
-
Ok so I started that thread earlier in the season when I was particuarly outraged at way things were going. I don't think he should resign, but I think if as commonly put about he got his wage doubled last summer I think we should be renegociating his wage back down the way this summer. Last season was an awful lot to live up to but this season but a huge diappointment and I think McGhee has played his part, baffling tactical decisions at big games, abandoning the idea of football when we persisted with hoofing it to Sutton and Porter for two months. Losing McCormack and Porter eventually summer meant we were never going to do as well this season as last but I think we could have done better and our manager if willing to take the extra money when he earns it should be willing to take a pay cut in these credit crunched times when standards slip.

I completely disagree. Everyone knows the rules, after 33 games the top 6 and bottom 6 split. Ok so sometimes the margin can be slim, tough that is often the way sport is. We could finish bottom 6 on goal difference then go and roger the bottom 5 teams senseless and have as many points or more as a team in a euro position, but seeing as we picked up those points against the league dross we haven't earned it nor are we deserving of europe because we won't have done it when it mattered. Yes it can make the league table look untidy, but it is a simple concept, everyone understands it and if it is a farce it isn't for those reasons. The reason the split is a farce is due the shambolic way we run our game in general to suit short term thinking and the SPL self prereservation attitudes. I'm not a fan of the split per se but for a 12 team SPL it does a job and does it fairly well by keeping the 3rd quarter of the season somewhat more interesting for midtable teams.

he said replace him, not bring in someone even better!

Saw it reported that Aberdeen can't afford to resign Smith, one wonders then if we could. Good player but seems a bit injury prone to boot.
-
Indeed i think we were very much a shop window for Hughes and he by and large given us a decent return. However has he done enough to impress championship clubs? He does have a touch of class but to my mind still pretty inconsistent. I'd fear more it'd be Hibs, Utd or Aberdeen that might be after him, could we hold of their interest? Would like him to stay but much rather get Klimpl first. Saturdays howler aside he the rock to anchor the likes of Hughes around.
-
I'd expect McLean to sign on, if he stays fit I'd imagine we'd be offering him a deal and with his recent history I can't see any club that could blow us out of the water on wages taking a punt on him just yet. Smith all but said he away, Hughes I kinda expect to move on but think he might yet stay. Malcolm I'd be calling his taxi the now. Interesting to see what sort of attention Reynolds attracts, I wasn't all that impressed by him last season and he been ropey this and no doubt we had a lot worse so not like I actively want him to go but if McLean(assuming he signs up again) stays fit we have a ready made replacement at least this time if a bid is accepted. Like to see us find a decent left sided midfielder so we can stop having to put O'Brien out left.
-
Right so does that mean as a season ticket holder I can saunter up to ground whenever and expect my seat to be free or does it mean I have to inform the club beforehand of my attendance to confirm I'll be along so they can then place a sticker on my seat? Before that sounds to much like a moan, decent decisions to freeze prices and give back the Cooper, but really if we have to treat that kinda stuff as something to be thankful for things are sorely wrong. We clearly getting the Cooper back because they canny give the seats away near enough!
-
Absolutely agree. Most of us have a fairly blind loyalty but why did people ever start watching the game if it wasn't to be entertainted and also it being affordable. At the moment the entertainment is questionable and the price isn't to great. We are far from the worst team to watch in the league this season but there are precious few games this season that will stay in the memory. Also as for competing entertainment well last I went to the theatre it was still no more than £12/15 for a ticket. Last stand up act I went to see was £15 I think and SPL football definately not worth a penny more than that.
-
Very disappointing, think there a whole manner of reasons but it a fairly bad sign that we had such a low crowd between two teams chasing europe at a key crunch point of the season.
-
Hate to spoil your illusions but no I didn't buy one thankfully. I'm also willing to concede that yes sarcasm is the lowest form of wit but still, whoosh right over your head if you took that as a serious suggestion!
-
In short no. Someone needs lynching for this daft idea. Just show a picture of the damn thing and stop trying to boost sales of the programme with microscopic pics of part of a fitba shirt. We are all curious but no that desperate to see the thing that we'll we cutting out and pasting these snapshots just to see what it looks like.

We need to get a picture of Evil Tweed up on the site now!

yeah how could you tell? Twas a typo honest! The 3 is next to the 4 you know. :-)

From 1928-1969 pretty much uninterupted hoopness. 31 years out of a history of 123 years. Not all that traditional if you ask me. :-) That said it a classic design which I quite like so be nice to get it back for a season or two at least every few years.
