  1. Potted like a black ball supposedly, and not before time. I remember Gannon saying a couple of weeks into the job that he works in the 'entertainment industry'. In that respect he's doing a good job, albeit off the park.
  2. 60% of the report discussing the situation with the gaffer and the faltering circulation figures of the papers then the remainder about the game? Standard Scottish media trash, they have a mighty big hit for themselves.
  3. Chew the chew, start the start. Centenary. Saturday. Half 7.
  4. Last year saw the third Fir Park Corner FC Quiz Night. The successful event saw over 100 fans; young and old, knowledgeable and no so knowledgeable, take part in what is now regarded as one of the most popular Motherwell supporter's events. It would be a shame not to bring it back. That's why Fir Park's Centenary Suite will be buzzing again in just a couple of weeks time. Saturday 14th November is the key date for your diary. We kick off at 7.30pm with our fast moving eight rounds giving you a chance to test your knowledge on everything from sport to music. There's also an opportunity to enjoy the company of fellow 'Well fans as we chew the fat on what has been a great start to the season. Teams of up to four people are invited to join us on the night at the credit crunching price of just £10 per team. As usual there will be a great range of prizes to be won including the customary wine and spirits. To get in on the action you can register your team and that all important team name now by dropping me or Frazzle a PM or turn up on the night from 7pm onwards.

    Supporters Trust?

I’ve stayed quiet on the Trust front since resigning from the board earlier in the year but seeing as everyone else has fired in with their point of view there’s no point in holding back. At the start of last season I approached Joe Smith and Andy Ross to get involved with the Trust to try and take the organisation forward. Joe and Andy are two of many Motherwell fans who I thought could make a real difference to the Trust. On reflection it was too far gone by that point. Public apology to you both, specifically Andy who has somehow managed to stick it out – all power to you big chap. I made the decision to chuck it after the Trust was unable to produce a newsletter to be sent out in the season ticket renewal letters. With only 100 or so members left you would have thought it would have become top priority to drum up some new members. I was also disappointed that the balance of Share Fund, another £7,000 or so, was not put towards the refurbishment of the disabled enclosure. On the heart monitors issue, I know that the club were not after a scanner but thirty separate pieces of equipment which were about £100 a pop. Whilst there was a lot of support for the board for what I had seen as a worthwhile venture, the wrong decision was ultimately made. A number of folk decided to get stuck right into the Trust at the end of last year. I would suggest that their anger should have been directed at whoever made the decision within the club not to buy the monitors before John Porteous was forced to ask the Trust for help. On funding this website, it seemed like the right thing to do as this has become a vital link for hundreds of Motherwell fans around the World. I had spoken to Flow about the Trust taking over the running of the old site about three months before it closed and again when he made his final decision to shut it down and there seemed to be no one who would keep the forum going. With Gaag in place, the Trust offered to make a decent contribution to the running costs in exchange for a few bulk e-mails a year, some decent publicity and a few banners. Not a lot to ask I didn’t think but fair play to you Gaag for taking it on yourself. As for those folk who are looking to start the second coming of the Trust, I think the support in general has made it pretty clear that there's no need for an organisation who wants to be the 2nd largest shareholder. However, there's certainly a place for some sort of fundraising body and we'll all back it, you need look no further than the night at the Civic and the Dolan pool tournament.
  6. Some cracking results which is heartening to see. Signifies that they are a secret forum member, with member being the operative word.
  7. Or maybe seeing if he's got enough spare to pay the fine?

    Supporters Trust?

Phil O'Donnell Memorial: All funds from the fundraiser at the Civic, the dinner at the Hilton and various other bits and pieces are care of the Trust. As far as I'm aware a site visit has taken place at Fir Park and Martin Rose intends to meet with Phil's family to finalise plans on this. Website: The site is still very much there, however, I had taken it offline about a month ago as the information was not up to date and there was still an opportunity to sign up - it's simply not fair to be touting for new members considering the unrest there is in the organisation just now.
  9. You'll no doubt be aware that we are heading into Craigan's testimonial year and there are a number of excellent events planned, details on the full calendar will follow shortly. The Golf Day which will take place at Carluke Golf Club is just a couple of weeks away but there's still time to get in on the action, only if your quick though. This coming Bank Holiday Monday sees a full day event kicking off with breakfast in the club house, followed by a round with a current player, 'Well legend or random celebrity. There's a full bar and hospitality out on the course just before you head onto the back 9. After the golf there's a two course meal in the club house, where the after dinner speaker is the one and only Frank McAvennie. This event is ideal for businesses or individuals who are looking for a right good way to have a cracking day with some of the current squad and legends, and avoid a trip to the garden centre. Jim Gannon

This seems to be another great appointment by Boyle. As he said at the start of the process, we have taken our time and made sure that we have the best man for the job. The shortlist of four, if correct, was surprisingly strong and I would have taken any of them - barring your man Staunton. Looking at the Stockport County message boards, Gannon is highly respected and described as their best manager ever. Has a track record in making good signings, playing good passing football and bringing on the youth. In fact, a lot of their fans are viewing his appointment at Fir Park as the end for their club. You think we've got problems. While it's a difficult task for him, I think we might just have found a real gem. Delighted!
  11. Got my season ticket this morning. Some nice ideas with the offers, good to see that the club are making more of an effort on that front.
  12. We've dodged a bullet here. Can't believe Leitch was offered the job.

The top is absolutely cracking, would have went for claret shorts but you can't have everything. Like the bit of white detail here and there, particularly like the collar which makes it a bit different. It's also out nice and early for the summer holidays.

....but I will none the less. Eh? I don't have any real issue with the club changing strips every season. It's just an unfortunate set of circumstances, which I believe is covered under the T&C of the Supporters' Charter. However, the anti-Trust bilge is just a load of tat peddled by folk who really need to shut up and get on with their lives. If you don't want to join, fair enough, move on.
  15. What baffles me is the fact that we're discussing a couple of throw away comments from February and continuing to blow it out of all proportion. I wish the Trust board all the best in what they are trying achieve in very difficult circumstances.
  16. There's a decent bit of blurb on the official site, click here.
  17. Final push then... who else is involved? Get it Paypal'ed or arrange your place by e-mailing Mr Ross.
  18. Fill your boots! It's nae bad...

    Mst Open Meeting

There were no points made merely a statement by one person. Not a suggestion that "many people" believe this to be fact. I don't have a problem with people making points, many of which are valid and put across very well. Indeed I actually have respect for the way Dodge, Scooby Hugh and Seagull have come on here and have tried to have a discussion about the merits or otherwise of the Trust. I may disagree with their points, but debate is healthy. It's the basis of this forum. You on the other hand don't want debate, I've reviewed your post regarding the Trust and I've came to the conclusion that you have nothing constructive to say and that you will never be satisfied with any response given. You're the type that would far rather pick holes in people's arguments, than add anything to the debate. You would like nothing better than the Trust to fail. But I'll tell you what, I think that would be a right shame for the support. Feel free to contribute positively to the discussion but don't just type your usual "take onboard what people are saying" crap. I won't be holding my breath.

    Mst Open Meeting

Details of the meeting are available here.
  21. This well deserved a better turn out. An original idea which was well executed. Plenty of 'Well known faces and good chat. Well done to those at the club who organised this. When's the next one?

    Mst Open Meeting

The way I see it is that raising membership means the Trust represents more Motherwell fans. If the Trust represents more of the support then it should then be able to exert more influence on the club. More influence leads should lead to a positive outcome for the Trust's members and the support in general. I don't think every effort of the Trust is focused on gaining shares. If what your saying was the case there would be no Trust Quiz Night, the Trust wouldn't hold a football tournament every summer and the Sports Dinner held two weeks back would never have happened. It is true that the Trust hope to gain fans representation on the board, one way to do that is to build up sufficient numbers of shares but there's far more going on. The Open Meeting was one of the first steps on the long way back. It was far from a failure those who did attend contributed a lot and I thank them for that. I hope over the coming month we'll convert them all. The hands are up, mistakes have been made in the past and it will take time and effort to get the support onside. The process has started, I know we've gained at least 4 new members since last night. That's very encouraging but as I said it's only the start.
  23. I've heard only good things about tomorrow night. The fact that I'm off on study leave this week only adds to the appeal. Looking forward to it.
