And Hutch and Mootu and Humphrey? Hope they have all healed in the break. We must be hiding the info from Mutley and the Sheep!

very cunning, Foxy. I have heard your like on the terracing, home and away and having followed the 'Well for 50 years I only remember 3 teams that played the way you seem to remember. Football has moved on since "tanner baw" wingers (sorry Bop!) and even the most flamboyant teams like Barca, Real Madrid and Arsenal play a fluent game which allows for tactical changes throughout the team structure. Did you watch Brazil play England? One up! Allowing Kaka the freedom to play. Hopefully giving our young players success will allow them to learn to play the style of football you want to see and not the "kick and rush" of the juniors. In JG etc.

Superb article. I guess that puts paid to all the speculation- for today at least! We now know a great deal more about our man in charge and I have a sneaky feeling that if JB treats him right he will be around for some time. The part about the senior players is interesting because he does not deny the "comments" or the importance of unity versus ego but claims he wants fairness for players, which includes letting them go for the sake of the team and themselves. Some may find this hard to accept, both supporters and players but it is a healthy and refreshing attitude in our parochial Scottish game. All in all I think JG comes out of this scenario well and I can't wait for the next chapter. 'Mon the Jimbo, 'mon the "Well

Nice one Brazilian- Thanks to you my missus thinks I'm shite- siftin! Come to think of it I possibly am? Anyway in a normal week I find myself reading the manager's views on the game in various publications as well as the 'fishal and on here (as interpreted),sad I know. This week the silence has been deafening and although I don't subscribe to the conspiracy theories, it would be nice to hear JG's views on the game, the subs, the performances, the injuries and all the normal patter we are used to. Please come out of hiding Jimbo even if it's only to tell 'Flow to get his spelling and punctuation right??
-
Aye- the last three we picked up from that league were standouts.
-
To add insult- he was on as a sub and was subbed by the wee pole dancer who fell on his erse. Might have been to waste more time but not very nice for the young man. Also noticed at the game the animal behaviour of the same two centre backs, constant complaints to the ref as well as their persistent fouling so I guess wee Reidy would have been delighted with them.

Let's face it, it's a joke of a home support for any game never mind a local derby. With Hamilton, St Johnstone, St Mirren and Falkirk's home support, aye and ours too(see Hearts game) the SPL is going downhill fast. Even the Old Firm are struggling at home and definitely not bringing the same numbers to away games. Our travelling support has been very good so far, especially at Hamilton and St Mirren but this can,t go on much longer or the league will get poorer and teams will get into serious financial trouble. I know costs have been discussed on another thread but those in charge must act now if they want to keep scottish football as a spectator sport.

I'd bite yer hand off for 36 from 22 and maybe a couple of players added in January and I think we just might achieve this total if we can win our home games over the period. Don't forget that a couple of the draws were against the old firm and after todays result we have nothing to fear from Celtic and little to fear from Rangers. I agree that the points on the board are the most relevant stat but we have also had some good football to watch and an excitement and buzz so far this season that no-one expected at the start. Speaking of stats I fully expect Jeno, if played, to feature in our scoring charts this season.

Think JG has proved that he can "learn the lesson". We should therefore win. I agree with your appraisal of our defence on Saturday and I think the forced arrival of Hutch helped us going forward so I would play him and leave Crags out. If Hammy isn't fit then its Hutch and Saundero for me. Otherwise I'd leave the second half team in place since the Midden looked dead on their feet at the end. Pace is the answer against this lot!

I agree we may see Craggs back but why drop Saunders? Gannon has looked to play Mark in the holding role in front ofCraggs previously and may want to see this work. Hateley looked more out of things on saturday than either of our central defenders and he may be due for a rest along with Coke who was continually caught in possession. I would rather leave it to Jimbo as he sees them in training and asks them to stick to a game plan that is rehearsed. Back to winning ways this Saturday!

Sensible post. You weren't there but Reynolds and Saunders weren't strong enough? Strong enough for what? Reynolds was strong enough to score with a header. Saunders won everything in the air in both boxes, other than Reynold's goal! The three goals were in no way down to them and they both looked strong in posession, the Gannon way. Two clean sheets against Rangers and Dumpdee disnae count? This is the sort of stuff I've been hearing from old firm and new firm fans recently because they don't play young players and don't know what it's like to put faith and trust in young blood. Truth is Hibs bossed the midfield and scored from 2 set plays and a midfielder caught in possession. Gannon may change things for saturday but I don't think it reflects badly on these two, confident young men, one of whom has captained the side for the last 3 games.

That was some performance today in the face of a total ars* of a ref and some strong arm tactics from Levine's team. I thought it was a compliment to us and our passing game that United tried to kick us off the ball and disrupt the flow of the game on home soil, unfortunately the ref got sucked in and helped them out! Gannon demonstrated his command of tactics and formations with his change to protect Jennings and give us another out ball. Special mention has to go to Big Rood for a commanding performance and 3 reaction saves in a row and to our two young centre backs: Saunders was always in charge and CAPTAIN MARK was assured, calm and dominating. Every other player put in a really good shift and JoB never stopped working and his skill to win the penalty was sublime. This is a good time to be a Well supporter and if the journey home from Dumpdee can be repeated from other grounds, then this will be a special season for us fans. Can't wait for the next three home games!

Final observation before bed time- yes I do think comment on forum affects and reflects opinion on the terracings, especially on our young fans whom I have heard quoting posts on here. Yes I do think certain fans have used negativity on here to undermine players such as Fitz and Clarky and other young players. Mark Reynolds is a bright star of the future and does not deseerve to be damned with faint praise or have his contribution questioned by "realists". However, each to their own and me to mine.
-
Once again I agree and respect your comments. How easy is it to become negative about our young talent? If Mark is successful and does bring us funds for the future will the critics feel bad? I fear for all of our young players as I did for Mark Fitz and the horrible effect that our "fans" have had on him. Criticism should always be constructive imo, especially for the young stars of the future.
-
You're right. We do agree. My beef was with MB and his comment about "only looking good because everyone else was ...", He was and is good because he is talented and never hides. I wish we had more like him and hope that we will. Thanks for your comments. Much appreciated.
-
Glad to read the last part of your response as that is the encoragement I expect for a young player. BUT read the posts I responded to and the negativity they convey and tell me that they are not undermining the superb efforts of a true Motherwell player who is determined to give everything for the team while seeking to go on and become a success in his profession. I know opinions are to be welcomed but young players thrive on encouragement and this young man has earned the right to be supported.

How dare you assume that sheepees will finish above us! Of course the arrogant one will blow it, he has no players and no money. please have faith in our team and our new manager, he is not MMcG. He has a target and a will to achieve it.
-
Hivnae posted for a while but you guys are getting ridiculous. Mark is a young talented guy who has given everything for his team and his country over a short period of time through a very hard transition involving 3 managers and differing tactics and positions. you're expectations of his weekly contributions are outrageous and yet he has imo exceeded these. He will eventually leave, thanks in part to you and your attitude and to his ambition and i wish him well for his contribution, and yet I wish we could stop the criticism and ask him to be our next Joe Wark and reward him appropriately. I know this won't happen but just because you were partly right with Magoo does not give you the right to malign a genuine young talented man who will always give his all for MFC. Please think again about your comments and there effect.

Superb performance in places today and a great result. Well worth the TEN POUNDS.Agree with 'Flow that some of the play was like last season but St Mirren were very poor at times. Hope we can keep this form going until the end of the season in which case MMG will have a fine team to start next season. When he's right , he's right and when he's no quite right, he knows it!
-
Great performance from the wee man today, one of many this season. A sublime cross for the first goal, a superb crunching tackle in midfield that shut the midden fans up at a time when they were trying to get back into the game, a passing move down the left where he was involved 3 or 4 times before JOB was presented with the easiest chance of the game. Hope none of the 'big boys' were watching or we could see a bid for him because he is certainly better than anything they had on the field today. Know when we are lucky!
-
Another fantastic performance from the team today. Not a failure and a great team performance. Hibs were so lucky at times with deflections galore to save them at the last gasp. We played so much football it was breathtaking at times but our luck was out in front of goal until Clarky blasted that pen. Its a good time to follow the Well again. Big Suts is not as sharp as he might be but there were flashes of a good understanding with Clarky, so here's hoping it will develop as he gets match sharp again.

Wonder if Maros has any pals?
-
Based on this poll's results, should we be singing "we're Sh1te and we know we are!"? We are definitely too quiet as a support but that has been true since the introduction of seating and stewards. I haven't noticed any really vocal supports at other grounds outside of the O.F. and they are noisier away from home! At Tannadice our support was noisy and colourful but apart from five minutes in the second half we never heard them. Same at Hamilton. Paisley had more of them than normal but they didn't seem to be louder than usual. If only we had a really good song or anthem to sing!Ho, Hum.
-
I totally agree with this thread but without criticism of any of the individuals. So far 2009 has been great for us and with a little luck we could not only be unbeaten but on maximum points. Perhaps the spark needed to actually make a very good team lies with us, the support, who can help the players, especially the younger ones, to feel confident and respected. Stevie H. gave everything on Saturday and suffered for it. JO'B has become a much better player since he was cheered off the park a couple of weeks ago. Marky has got his head up again now that he's getting encouragement. Fitzy has scored! Need I say more. Others like Dazza and Murphy can only benefit from being part of a well supported team and I am looking forward to seeing them all improve. I do wish we could forget about McCormack now though, good luck to him where he is but he is no longer going to make our team very good and our style has changed since his short time with us.

Two things: This man is a terrier with a superb touch and a simple approach to the game- I hope the others are watching. Secondly I don't know if this has been posted but I have never seen Michael Higden of Falkirk look so shocked as he walked on to the park on saturday to be met by mad Maros shouldering him out of the way- normally our players run a mile from him! Anyway, like many on here, I hope we are able to add him to our signings as he is worth the admission money. Looks proud to be wearing the jersey too!
