PFA Scotland: Players aim to 'shine' in search for new clubs Former Ross County captain Richard Brittain has swapped his armband for a career on the construction site. And a game at Broadwood on Saturday will offer out-of-contract players the chance to impress more than 30 prospective clubs. Brittain, who now plays for Brora Rangers in the Highland League, says the PFA Scotland-backed scheme will help to keep players in the game. "There's some fantastic talent that... has the chance to shine," he said. Brittain told BBC Scotland that he is "keeping my foot in the door in the football world". "But it's time to take my family in a different direction," he added. "I start my new job in my new career on 6 July and I'm excited about that. "It's a new chapter for myself and my family; it's the right stage for me now. I have signed and am going to continue playing, but at a lower level in the Highland League with Brora Rangers. "I'm going to be working with a construction company and starting off doing trainee site supervisors; working on construction sites and seeing how they operate, hopefully actually becoming in charge of a construction site." On some of the challenges facing out-of-work footballers, he added: "It's unbelievable. Unless you're earning megabucks, which doesn't really happen in Scotland nowadays, it can be a difficult time. "Hence the reason that PFA Scotland have put on this fantastic player showcase week, along with the DPS Group, who are sponsoring it. "It's a fantastic opportunity for out-of-contract players and we're up to more than 30 players coming in today [Wednesday] to try to get a bit of training and put themselves in the shop window for the game we've got organised for Saturday. "We've got 30 plus managers coming to the game: managers from the Scottish Premiership and the lower leagues. "It's not just part-time teams coming to the game on Saturday, a lot of full-time Premiership sides will be represented. "It's a fantastic opportunity for the players to go and see if they can get a contract elsewhere." "If you look through the leagues I think there's a great deal of quality in the top division," Brittain added. "If you go down the leagues in the Championship, League One and League Two, there's some fantastic talent about: they just need to be given the chance to shine."

Ainsworth is a bit meh for me very hit and miss. Mc Donald yes please but don't burst the bank not another McFadden who let's face it regardless of the love wasn't a great signing. However Laing can be a real money spinner for us so yeas and no pissy 1 or 2 year deal. Do a Utd and get 3/5 min.

Nearly as fondly as psycho with peter grant and TCs free kick all time favourite memories.

So would it include all the shit performances that got us in that position ? Naw so fuk that for an idea. Move on and hopefully forget. Also let's not forget it's biased massively in the prem team Rangers played 6 matches we played 2. Now while I don't care as we stayed up it's massively massively unfair to the lower club whoever it is.

Even a monthly Q&A would be a fantastic idea. Also what's happening with the managers message ? Is that gone now McCalls gone ? I personally thought it was a great idea

Motherwell V The Rangers Spfl Playoff Final 2Nd Leg 31/05/15

Motherwell v Rangers: Police to investigate Fir Park brawl Police Scotland say they will review the fight that marred the conclusion of Motherwell's Premiership play-off final victory over Rangers. Rangers defender Bilel Moshni was at the centre of an ugly brawl on the final whistle at Fir Park. The Tunisian was pushed by Lee Erwin and responded by aimed a kick and punch at the Motherwell striker, before tussling with Fraser Kerr. All three players were shown red cards by Craig Thomson after the match. Assistant chief constable Bernard Higgins said: "Police Scotland will conduct a full review of the circumstances and liaise with the appropriate partners, and decide how best to take the matter forward over the coming days." Rangers manager Stuart McCall said he missed the incident, but acknowledged such behaviour was "unacceptable". Speaking after his side's 3-0 loss at Fir Park, he said: "If he has thrown a punch that's disgraceful. "But it's safe to say he won't be at the club next season. He's out of contract." Motherwell boss Ian Baraclough said the scenes detracted from a great day for the Lanarkshire club, who triumphed 6-1 on aggregate to retain their top-flight status. "There's been an outpouring of emotions, shall we say, and it's gone too far," he told BBC Scotland. "Scottish football doesn't need it. There were two teams battling it out over 180 minutes, they gave it absolutely everything. "For one or two individuals to ruin it, tarnish it, is a shame." Erwin appeared to shove Mohsni after the defender refused his offer of a handshake and describe his opponent's reaction as "embarrassing" in a television interview, given with blood on his face. Motherwell fans spilled on to the pitch while the fight was going on and had to be ushered away by police and stewards as they goaded Rangers supporters. -

Highs n lows Lows the flare on the pitch. Motherwell fans trying to goad the orcs despite the club pleading to stay off the pitch (they get fined for this btw) and Erwin and mohsni at the end. Anyhow enough of that. Highs the first goal was a total fuck up by there keeper. The wolfs in sheeps clothing leaving the main stand at the 2nd. The 3rd just to rub salt in. The singing from the east and even the cooper but by fuck cheer up in the main. Seeing there players getting well rattled miller in particular and with a better/stronger ref they would have been a man down. Hammell scrunching slide tackles. And watching those that don't walk, away walking away fuking the best of the lot there going hungry tonight as no Korma for them. Dunno how I felt about the "you're getting sacked in the morning chant to McCall I personally found it funny and a bit tounge in cheek. Well done the team but we should never have been in that position learn from it but also learn just how mentally strong we are and what we can achieve when we use fear in the right way. Barca well I'm a critic but hit it spot on the 2 games for me so deserves more time and patience esp from me. -

Who said fire or punishment ? The club were embarrassed / disgusted / ashamed enough take you're pick that a player would say that when were flying the family club flag. I hardly expect him to be sanctioned for it, the club has already dealt with it, just makes him a bit of a prick. However do it in front of an official and you're card most definitely will be marked.

That's disgraceful if true.
