The Rangers V Motherwell Spfl Playoff Final 28/05/15
mcguru replied to Yabba's Turd's topic in Club Chat
All I ask is that the current on-pitch custodians of the club put a shift in. I can't run for them, pass or tackle for them. Wish I had that privilege. I was at our last 1st Division game up at Forfar last day of 84/85 season, really hoping not to see another lower league game for the longest time. Up the Dossers. -
I am a qualified referee and can confirm you won't find anywhere in the laws of the game where it will say a player from one of the sides cannot challenge for a drop ball. Thompson is trying to apply "law 18" common sense to get himself and linesman out of a problem they themselves created. If the ball was anywhere in the middle of the park when Thompson blew for the goal you can be sure the dropped ball there would have been contested by both sides. Would Thompson have booked Pearson if he refused to back away....hmm?? Oh and yes, on another day we'd have had 2 penalties in the first half.
-
FWIW Barra interviewed after game and said ref explained to him linesman shouted "play", Thompson thought he said "goal" so signalled for it. Linesman must at that point have told him his advice was lost in translation.

Did UEFA have a stadium inspection this week, anyone know how it went? Don't suppose there'd be any chance of them allowing the POD north/south sections to be used with the current bucket seats? I personally think doon the front at the Cooper end at 18 yard line is a great spot.

The matter will now be heard by the Disciplinary Tribunal at a Principal Hearing on Thursday 5th April 2012. McCall said, "I've spoken to the SFA Compliance officer, Vincent Lunny, to tell him I'll be declining their offer so I've been invited to Hampden early next month for a hearing." Fair doos to him and is there any chance that sense will prevail? Bit like yir mother-in-law's birthday party, you've sorta got to go

They've managed to dig up Andy Gray on Talk Sport just now and what an embarassment it was, he's crying into his lemonade about how Scottish football is finished and slebberd on aboot how Ibrox is "full every week"...........HARUMPH ALERT :help: didney look that full last Sunday. So Rangers are spending about £10M a year more than they take in......wee guy who runs the corner shop doon the road will tell embdy that's a recipe for disaster and is nothing more than mis-management on a grand (lodge) scale. But never fear, Lord Murray will be protected by the Scottish fitba meedja as usual. But, what the hell, let's make sure WE win OUR next gemme :pleasantry:

OK I'm copying this from Pie & Bovril forum but here it is - http://twitter.com/DarrylBroadfoot What an utterly bizarre statement from Motherwell. Wild fixation with process as opposed to right or wrong. More hysteria than Balotelli sanction. Only in Scotland. And finally: if the CO Reference was so wrong, why did independent panel impose sanction? Stop whining, stop doing it and #focusonfootball In my view this is a wholly inappropriate public statement from an SFA employee. Who is this guy? I can't be arsed wasting 60 secs of my life googling him.

Probably mentioned elsewhere but looks like wur on BBC Alba 5.30pm showing the full game. Whit's the gaelic fur "Mon the Dossers!"?

I for one congratulate the SPL (aye ah ken, world's first) for thinking outside the square rectangle and also the club for embracing the Friday night gemme and coming up with some ideas how to entice people along. I am a football traditionalist and was trying to remember the first time I went to a game (born '67) that did not kick-off at 3pm Saturday. Sure it wisny afore 1990. I remember seeing the BBC documentary on the Clydebank Blitz of 1941 and there was a guy saying he was a kid at the time and his kid brother was "playing with a potato" when a bomb crashed through their tenament. For forms of entertainment, you had the wireless (still got that), playing outside (sort of still got that if you can dodge the cars) and playing with root vegetables! But guess what, nowadays there's a myriad of ways to spend your entertainment sheckle and fitba at the current price level and perceived value is probably further down the totem pole than the effing X-factor. At a tenner for an adult admission, now the match is at a price level where it's somewhat affordable and I hope we can get at least 7000 there officially. Reason gemmes started at 3pm Saturday in the 1880's and beyod is cos men (for it was them) worked a half-day on Saturday and it gave time for most away supporters who wanted to travel the time to get to the match. Fitba as a business is no different to any other in that it has to adapt to the times and search for ways to be profitable. Well done the club and let's embrace this in a positive fashion. Time and tide wait for no club.
