I'm not one of McHugh's biggest fans, far from it, but yeah, he did have a good game tonight and i'd be happy with him starting up top with Higdon against Aberdeen. Worried what kind of backlash we might get from them though....
-
Brilliant player. Does a power of work, not only does he win the flick ons, he is also usually the man who takes the return ball, before working it wide and then getting on the end of it. If he is "pish" and grabs a goal and sets one up every game, give me a team full of pish players.

Feel for the lads tonight, thought they put in a shift, mostly, Lasley was much improved after a jittery start, as was Humphrey- it seems if he beats a man the first time he takes him on, he'll try and keep doing it, fail and he'll have a poor game. Higdon put in a belter of a shift, a goal and an assist and was doing the work of 3 men up front, superb. Murphy was VERY poor, has not been playing well since..... pretty much the Hearts game, needs a spell on the sidelines and told to buck up his ideas. Interesting point that was mentioned to me from someone listening on the radio- Hibs have NEVER lost a penalty shootout.

McHugh should be nowhere near the team. I'd consider Forbes for lasley and page for hateley with clancy moving to right back.

One of the worst in a long time today. Not one player played well and none deserve any plaudits. I see a few folk singling Jennings out for criticism, certainly not one of his better games but yet again he was doing the job of two men as once more Lasley was posted missing throughout and looks a yard off at every opportunity. Carrying an injury? I don't know but I'd have Carswell or Forbes in there on Tuesday. Sadly I fear a reaming from Hibs as we are static at the back and they have good pace up top.
-
No one mentioning it? Keith Lasley, again, was a bombscare in the middle of the park. When he wasn't falling over he was passing the ball straight to the opposition (see Dunfermlines 2nd goal for an example of previous for this this year). Very worrying as he was seemingly a pace behind the game most of the time, any reason? Disappointing the way we set up, Higdon for all the will in the world is not suited to a lone striker role, what's more annoying though is that at least 3 of their goals came from us being slack in possesion, cardinal rule of playing a bigger team is don't give the ball away cheaply in midfield as they broke with pace and ease so often from it.

I also notice another cliché-laden interview from Jim McIntyre...

Thought we played well yesterday and could and should have won it at more of a canter, 4-2 flatters Dunfermline, they were very poor for the first hour until we began to slacken. Higdon led the line superbly today with Humphrey, Murphy and Law all interchanging and causing Dunfermline no end of problems with their pace- if we can keep that up all season we will be a match for most SPL teams as they can't handle the speed and movement we have. Daley coming in might light a rocket under Humphs arse, whilst he did have a better game today, he was still found wanting at some times looking to turn back instead of taking it on and into the box or to the byline, indeed, two of the times he did this, he scored a goal and had a hand in another, there's a lesson to be learned there. Thought the fans were brilliant yesterday, good to see the whole stand joining in for a lot of the songs as well, reckon we must have had close to 1000 there (would love to know the official figures, anyone?) and it really shows the feel-good factor around the club at the moment.

Thought we were pretty good tonight at knocking it around, could have scored more, the established guys strolled through the game, including Forbes. Hollis had nothing to do so couldn't judge him, Humphrey did do well when he came on as he was running at people and beating them with ease. Lawless, Halsman and Smith all looked sharp when they were on, McHugh, still not impressed, sclaffed a few crosses and was found hiding alot.

Anything less than comfortable progression will be unacceptable, as good a start as Clyde have had they've been bottom of their league for the last three years running. Good to give the fringe players a run out. Would like to see us line up Hollis Hateley page Hutchison halsmann Forbes carswell lasley Smith higdon mchugh

Gutless and effortless second 45 today. First half we were by far and away the better team, no doubt the second just on half time was a back breaker but how the likes of Humphrey get a game week after week baffles me. He was terrible at Killie, worse last week and today was akin to a man down. He needs dropped and given either the rest he needs to get over his mystery injury or time to sort out his act as he just now is a waste of a jersey. Sad thing is we have no one to challenge his place in the team. Nothing much more to add other than it was the same old same old against them.
-
Between craigan and Forbes for me with Craggs shading it, when under the cosh in the second half he marshalled the back line superbly.
-
Thought we were pretty poor in all honesty, first half pretty even but second seemed pretty much Saints passing it about, us clearing, saints coming back at us. Very little stuck up front today with Murohy and in particularly Hunphrey having a mare. Defence was solid and whilst I agree Forbes had a good game the midfield on the whole were posted missing for large spells of the game. The free kick reminded me very much of in Odense in position and the result was the same- bedlam behind the goals. Would love to see the last few mins from someone in the crowds point of view, it was rocking. All in all, it's these kind of results which are the mark of good teams and, dare I say it.... Champions.

Wonder how many of those were due to the cup final as I know at least 3 people who have not reneqed this year.
-
Outfielders much of a muchness; Randolph made a few decent stops therefore my nod to him.
-
I thought we were pretty poor today in all honesty, no urgency and no real threat on goals. Humphrey had a mare, if he wasn't falling over his feet he was hiding, no overlapping from Hateley on the wing and we really struggled to create much. McHugh, I'm afraid won't cut it at this level, he was a waste of a jersey today. Both teams pretty much negated each other and all the action was in the midfield. Good support there from ourselves, unlike Killie, they were silent until about the 80th minute, not even a Hello Hello from them today. The ref today was a bit ropey, did his best to let it flow at times, probably missed a good penalty shout in the first half for Killie and a questionable handball in the second half for us and did make some inexplicable free kick decisions. Pretty poor all round, but if you'd offered me 4 points from the first two matches I'd have been happy.

I dunno if I can go back there now, I might cry, someone on the internet thinks i'm an arsehole. NOOOOOOOO.

Hopefully make amends for that pitiful display down there towards the end of last year and with a good day forecast hopefully a lot of Dossers make the journey down....2-0 'Well, Law and Murphy.

Was very impressed by all yesterday, not on player had a bad game. Hammell looks a new player with a player like Law in front of him, we finally have a threatening left attack not seen since the Hammell/Pearson/Faddy days, only this time we have players covering when he bombs forward. Higdon put in a great shift, I expect him to start to find his shooting boots but his strength and the way he holds up play is excellent, one that really stands out was from a corner in the first half, he was at the penalty spot for a good five seconds crowded out but did not give possesion away only to lay it back to Jennings whose shot was just a wee bit late and blocked by a defender, only gripe is he is going to get penalised a lot for his style of play because the refs can't get to grips with the fact that strikers can be big burly and strong (unless it's John Hartson). Law is really going to be a player for us once he gets the confidence to take on some of the shots when he creates a chance, it was said in our wee group yesterday before the game that our midfield is going to have to chip in with a few goals this year and lo and behold Lasley gets one on day one, and a pearler it was too, more of the same please! My only gripe, and it is a pretty minor one, is that we had our most success yesterday when we kept things simple and played neat little triangle passes and short give and goes (see Murphy's goal) but too often Hateley was looking to play a dinky pass here and there trying to be cute and it didn't come off, like I said, minor gripe but frustrating none the less. I'm hoping for big things this year because as a front 4 going forward we look as if we could be as good as we were during McGhee's first year. The atmosphere yesterday in the East was tremendous thanks to the guys down the front, not too many overly complicated songs and lots of continental style chanting and bouncing about (taking a lesson from their trip to Aalesunds I wonder....?), keep it up because it was entertaining when the action on the pitch dulled down.
-
Enjoyed it yesterday, the chant when Lasley scored was a belter, sounded like the whole stand was into it. Now if only we got to use it more often...
-
Great performance. Law does look a great player, good foil for Humphrey.
-
Away and stop slebbering pish and wipe the dribble off your chin, in what way does missing a pre-season friendly in the middle of July mean you don't love the club? For the love of God. Can we please please PLEASE have another "i'm a better fan than you" debate? Please? The're always so entertaining and informative

It's stories like this that make me happy that that evil organisation is going to the wall quicker than a crash test dummy.

15 goals for one of the most impotent teams in SPL history, I'll take it.

Great news, wonder if this is the start of a new strategy similar to Hibs' Scott Brown deal where we get the players to sign an extended deal with the promise to move them on where we can both cash in and make a fair whack of money from them. Great loyalty from Hutchinson to repay the club who have nurtured him since his move North and no doubt will also ensure that his boys club get a tidy sum when he moves on too rather than go on the cheap or on a free.
