He never even searched my wallet, just took my drivers license out, scribbled the details and gave it back to me.

He might have a choice of clubs but would he want to go? Hes had numerous clubs already for his age and a bit of stability at a club where he knows he can cut the mustard might be preferential over a slight wage rise in a team he might not fit in to.

To be fair, i'd rate Gauld at a lot more than 500k. One of the first Scottish players to come through in a long time who looks like he has the potential to go all the way.
