I think he's Jim Jeffries. He's a torn faced bastard any time he's on and is constantly trying to put Jeffires name forward as our new boss.
-
Yeah, I'd highly doubt any bookies has odds running for our next boss at all. That's why you wont get money on Staunton. When Davies was sacked my Dad was told to put money on the Black/Butcher team taking over. He went into every bookies in Motherwell to try and put £50 on it and not one of them were taking the bets. Nothing to do with this really, but there you go.

Toastie done everything that day except score. Even to the point he went for a diving header and kept pulling himself along the ground to try to connect with the header. I think it was one game where people were feeling sorry for him.
-
Yeah, pretty sure Faddy did.

I genuinely believe that Clarky wouldn't want to do the 'dirty' on the club by walking out for free. If he was ever to leave, I reckon he'd happily sign a new deal at some point before hand just to ensure that we got a fee for him. Not that he ever will leave. I believe it is now law that he must play for us. I also think we could say the same about Reynolds. When he signed his new deal in 2007/08 season, he said that he is more than happy to sign up with us, even though the Portsmouth et al stories were about at the time, as it meant that we could command a reasonable fee for him.
-
So do McCormack's. Mostly from the round about the penalty spot area.
-
Sanchez would be a massive appointment for us. The only thing would be his long ball tactics might not impress too many people.
-
Perhaps they have, but anything I have read has been purely about Mark McGhee and Aberdeen. If he has sad anything postive then fair enough, but John Hughes didn't see to have anytrouble getting his views on his time at Falkirk into the press.
-
Its not the fact the he is leaving that is getting people's back up. We all knew that was going to happen. It's the fact that despite all the coverage this story has had over the past fortnight I have yet to hear McGhee mention Motherwell once. Not to say he enjoyed his time here or to thank us for taking a chance on him and giving him a job back in football when it looked like everyone else had given up on him. I half expected maybe Leitch to come out and say something considering he was born in the town, started his career with us and spent the last few seasons of his career captaining our team, or John Boye guaranteeing him a job for life at Fir Park But, fuck all from either of them. I hope Annan pump them out the CIS and they get the sack.

I remember always being highly confused as to why the sign above the old turnstiles into the terrace behind the goal said Motherwell Football & Athletic Club rather than just Motherwell Football Club. Can remember they wee concrete dug-out with Tommy always sitting on the front of it on his shawl.
-
That was Tommy Burns, no?
-
Please don't let it be Chisolm. He's had good press due to Queen's cup run last year, but they have never really been consistant in the league. Did they not go on a run of about 15 games last season without a win?
-
Yep. If we get the Nijholt/McLean team in, it would definitely have me looking forward to the season ahead and I'd be doing everything I could to make sure I didn't miss a game.
-
Nope. I'm delighted he's gone to Hibs. Can't stand him, and still remain to be convinced that his teams actually do play good football as I've yet to witness it.

I think McGhee managed in the Premiership for about 2 minutes at Leicester, after joining when they were bottom near the end of the season. But I wouldn't really count that. He did however have a decent record getting teams out of League 1 into the Championship and had done pretty well in the Championship too. Gannon, I agree, is a bit unknown but seems to have a good reputation down south and would at least constitute us 'thinking outside the box' in our appointment. McCall, Reid, Williamson etc. would be a bog standard appointment from us just looking at all the usual suspects. Absolutely no imagination what-so-ever, and nothing for anyone to get excited about. Don't like any of them and really not impressed by the record of any of them in the SPL. The only one with a half decent SPL record is Williamson, but his teams play terrible football. Perhaps I would warm to the idea of one of them, depending on who it was. I think it was Cakes, (or was it MelvinBragg?), who at the end of last season said he had lost a bit of enthusiasm towards games. I'm kind of feeling the same currently, as I did when He Who Shall Not Be Named took over, and, I suspect, that if it was one of the Williamson, Reid, McCall gang being appointed would then it would not do too much to change that. Edit: Is John Collins not the favourite for the Monaco job?
-
Nothing against our club obviously. But all the others mentioned are hopeless. People keep going on about getting in someone with experience then go onto mention people like Billy Reid or Brian Reid who have only ever managed at a lower level and pretty much all of them have a terrible record in the top division.

Last time out, before McGhee applied, I was keen on Luc to be given the job. This time round I think he should be the first choice and if he can't get Boyd,McCart or Rob Matthaei, who assisted him at Telstar in we should definitely try to get Craig Brown or Tommy McLean in with him. I would be delighted with that. Just abvout all other names mentioned other than McAllister, Calderwood or Gannon would pretty much ensure I wont be back while they are there.
-
If we were to go down that route of thinking I'd much rather go with Craig Brown or Tommy McLean. I'd be astounded if this c**t is mentioned. If, in the highly unlikely event, he is offered the job I'll pay him double not to take it.
-
I mentioned that to my mate last night. I would reckon that we'll try to get Leitch or McCart to take the job with either Craig Brown or Wee Tommy helping out. Will be interesting to see who applies though. I'd never have thought McGhee would have the last time and was Walter Zenga not mentioned at the time too?

Were we rumoured to be interested in Mark Hudson at Rotherham last summer. Think he's a centre mid. Might be pointless second guessing targets until we know who our new boss is, but he's leaving them on a free transfer.
-
Surely we can pay more than his dole money.
-
Is John Kennedy not ou of contract at Celtic this summer? If he could stay fit, I'd like to see us pursue this one again. I know he'd probably end up in the Championship, same as last summer, but perhaps the chance to re-build his career, play every week and not having to move his family about would sway him to join. He was keen to sign for us before his agent and Celtic started to make noises about him going on loan and kicking off an auction for him.
-
Did it not say in one of the updates that after the first week things would start to slow down as that would be all the heavy work done, and the work after that would take a bit longer to get through.
-
What difference would it make if McGhee came out and said he was intending to stay on at Motherwell next season. Even if he did it still wouldn't stop all the paper talk, and if some other club want to speak to him they would still come to us and ask. Look at the Owen Coyle story. Despite having apparently told Celtic he's not interested and was going to talk to Burnley about a new contract, we are still getting stories that Celtic are waiting for him to get back from his holidays to try and talk to him again.
