It was the longer contract on offer that swung it in her favour, not the wages on offer. I would guess we only offered him yet another 6 month deal while County offered him an 18 month or 2.5 year deal.

From what I heard earlier in the week there was still interest from Italy, (can't mind if was Torino or Bari who were rumoured last time), and he'd been made an offer to go to Turkey, Galatasaray were the team mentioned. Not sure if they would be making offers now or waiting 'til the end of the season thought, if there is any truth in either of them.

Just caught a bit on Real Radio that Motherwell have now distanced themselves/raised concerns about the 10 team proposal. Never heard much else about it other than that.

No, but given that the meeting the other lasted all of 3 hours I'd take a guess and say that there wasn't much opposition to the idea. If the committee isn't unanimous,(even if only by 1, let's say that's us), then that means they are trying to push though a set-up that clearly isn't supported by anything like a majority of member clubs, nevermind the 11/1 or 10/2 voting majority that is needed. Unless of course some of the teams who are 'in neither camp' vote the proposals through just for changes sake.

But, When the idea of changes to the set up was first proposed it was with the brief of improving Scottish football, which many admitted at the time would probably involve teams taking a hit and having to make sacrifices for the benefit of football in general. Now we seem to have gone in the opposite direction from that and it's now all about the teams that will be left in the SPL each getting a bigger cut by splitting the money from the 2 dropped teams and sharing it out amonst themselves.

Motherwell are one of the few teams involved in the 'strategy group'/Old Firm bumfest that proposed the idea. Is that not evidence enough that they are supporting these changes?

I doubt it. He's still under 24, is he not, so we're guarenteed a bit of compensation even if he leaves on a bosman in the summer. I reckon 75k is less than we would get from that.

That would only be the case though if we allowed Celtic and Rangers to keep their 99%, or whatever they take. Surely if we expanded to 16/18 teams if wouldn't be the case that Celtic/Rangers keep all their money but everyone else has to sacrifice 20% or whatever to accomodate the extra teams. If there are going to be changes, either way, this unfair distribution of TV money, and the likes, has to be the first thing on the agenda.

I think he was getting his wisdom teeth out, or some sort of operation along those lines. That's probably had him ruled out for a week or so. There is no way we'd let a player have a few weeks off cause of a suspension.

The more time I've had to think about this appointment the more I'm starting to warm to it. When it was announced I was completely underwhelmed by it and thought I'd need a fair bit of convincing, but the way he puts himself across in interviews so far is making me think it could turn out pretty well. I'll give you two. 1. He's not Chris Sutton. 2. He's not John Hughes either. I would add Gus McPherson and Jimmy Calderwood to that list for 3 and 4, but I would be surprised if Gus' name was ever considered and quite a few would have preferred Calderwood, for some reason. That's another reason I'm starting to warm to this a bit. If it was either of those names (or at least 3 out of the 4) every single one of us would have been fucking livid and would still be rattling on now about how big a mistake it is and how much of an idiot the new boss is.

What difference does it make if you walk out at half time? They've already got your £22, that's all they give a fuck about. Just don't bother turning up in the first place, that's the road I'll be taking. I've missed a load of games in the first half of the season because of work, but that was sorting itself out in the second half with Saturdays off when we are at home, but I'll be keeping my money to myself.
