  1. I think Ciftci and a striker/winger with pace is all we need to have a creative attack. We still have Bigi, Tanner and Turnbull as options. If we then add a left sided defensive player to the squad, I would feel fairly confident for the season ahead. That would be five new signings in total.
  2. Whoever we sign up front has to offer something different to Main and Bowman, especially pace. Can this Danny Johnston sprint?
  3. Motherwell are ready to make a move for midfielder Ali Crawford, the midfielder who has rejected a new deal at neighbours Hamilton Academical, if the 26-year-old fails to secure his preferred option of a move to English football. (The Herald) On the one hand I wonder how he will feel if he doesn't get the move down south he preferred. On the other, Robinson may offer him a new lease of life and he could be the creative force we currently lack. Spells the end of Bigi though. Donnelly sounds a good signing. Last year proved we can't go into a season with just three recognised central defenders. It will be interesting to see if he has the pace to play wing back as well. However, I don't think we should just depend on him filling the left wing vacancy. Sounds like O'Halloran is not coming our way. Hope we find someone similar with pace.
  4. Like Curtis Main, both fall into the category of talent players that are normally well above our price league, but dropped back through lack of form or fitness. Ciftci is not an unknown quantity to SR and if he believes he can bring the best out of him, I'm all for it. Ciftci certainly offers skill and vision we don't have. O'Halloran has been on our radar for a while. He offers pace and goals. My only query is are they prepared to take a big drop in wages for regular football and resurrect their careers?
  5. I could see SR doing this with Bigi and Frear. It would be a huge call to take McHugh one side and tell him to go. Perhaps offering the captaincy to someone else might help McHugh. Hartley seems to have the character to lead the team on the park.
  6. Two qualities we need to improve on is quality and pace. A Marvin Johnstonesque forward/winger playing alongside Main/Bowman might allow for a bit more creativity from the likes of Bigi, Cadden and Turnbull. Regardless how long Carson and Kipre remain, I think we all know there will be another keeper, left sided defender and striker.
  7. The biggest name missing off your list is Aldred (loan return). Petravicius contract ended - doubt it will be extended.
  8. Should we close this thread now and start an In and Outs 18/19? That's the season ended now and I don't see a need for another great rebuild.
  9. Was it the big Hampden pitch or the need to change or system? Whatever, Bigi played his best performance all season. This is the quality we have lacked in midfield.
  10. I was one who thought Sammon was a fair idea. After the Live game, I have changed my mind.
  11. Any ideas of good street parking near Hampden tomorrow?
  12. Could we take David Templeton?
  13. I take it auto type meant Higdon. I can see where you are coming from with the Sammon idea. He hasn't fitted in at Hearts, and has spent this season with a very indifferent Partick. On recent form, most fans are likely to say no. I think our style suits a big hitman up front. I remember Sammon's goal scoring ability at Kilmarnock. Maybe the Northern Ireland link might help Robinson restore him to his past glory.
  14. Good news if true. I think Liam has shown a lot of character sitting on the bench for much of the season, behind Rose, McHugh and Campbell in the pecking order. Having finally been given his chance, his recent performances show he has lots of willing for the Well cause.
  15. If McHugh, Grimshaw, Kipre and Main are rested, I see Bigi, Turnbull and Hendrie playing from the start, and possibly Frear up front with Bowman. I'd far rather see MacLean come on instead of Demi. Agyeman could be a secret weapon. Maybe strip Hammell, Lasley and Clarkson for back up.

  17. Never mind Accies' fans, apart from season ticket holders, how many home fans will turn up tomorrow? 3k?
  18. After six months, I think Hartley would have to feature this Saturday, if he were to have any impact next weekend.
  19. I think the ball did strike Dunne's arm in the box first half, but it was more ball to arm. On a different topic, when we needed to replace Bowman, why put Petravicus on? All he has ever done is shown he out is depth. I personally would have preferred McLean.
  20. Celtic initially bid £200k, then upped it to £375 on last day of window. Not only am I one of (probable) many who propose Carson as our POTY, but his recent performances are clearly on a par with Randolph and Ruddy. What salaries will they be on now at Middlesborough and Wolves? I think at 30, there is still plenty of time for him to win a big transfer down south, and a wage that will set him up for life. We are justified in calling out Celtic for trying to take him on the cheap. All the best Trevor.

    Ross MacLean

Any recent insight as to why Ross MacLean is not making the first team squad? From his very limited chances off the bench, he has showed willingness to run at defences and create opportunities. Most recent games have had two strikers named as subs - Petravicius and Newell on Sunday. If there is a need for a plan B, would the MacLean not offer another option. I know he is not a carbon copy of Tanner but he showed potential previously. I have wondered if given the same opportunities as Cadden, MacLean might too have developed into a significant club asset. Has he slipped back in form or does Robinson simply not rate him?
  22. McHugh - for winning most 50/50s in midfield, running for 90 minutes, and of course that goal.
  23. I don't deny the existence of conspiracies in the world but is today really one? Celtic and Rangers shouldn't really need a hot or vibrating ball to compete against the others in the draw. In recent years, the Old Firm have met in semis or earlier. The only emotion I'm showing is excitement at a cracking tie against The Jambos. Too close to call - but not one to face with in trepidation.
  24. We should fully expect Hendrie to start next game. It's why we signed him. Cadden has previously nullified Jones and expect him to be given a similar role. With both sides well organised at present, this is going to be tight. Too close to call.
  25. Great win. Good performances from all players. Dunne looks better each week. My MOTM was Main, for his work rate. His goals are getting his name in the headlines, but I find his graft, strength and pace make him one of the hardest strikers in the SPL for defences to deal with. If seven of the SPL sides are of similar quality, I think Main and Ciftci differentiate us from the others and should keep us well away from the bottom two. I notice some fans feeling this was a comfortable victory. I am more cautious because Dundee did carve out a number of chances. Unlike us however, they didn't have strikers who could finish.
