  1. Unfortuntely you have a point!
  2. Got to say thought he played well last night. I'd go as far to say he looked a different player and I hope he gives the manager something to think about when Lasley returns. I would definitely pick him over Forbes.
  3. 1. Motherwell 6 - Hibs 6. 2. 1991 Cup Final. Was only 5 but cant believe my dad didnt take me.
  4. Got to agree - a hero, a legend and an inspirational figure are very different and then again it depends on your definition of each. Terry Butcher is not a legend, maybe if your pushing it a "hero" because he was the backbone of a very difficult time and one that wont be forgotten. By using that definition, does that mean Mark McGhee is the same? He managed us extremely well through the most difficult time in the clubs history (too young to know for sure but dont think anything even comes close to when uncle phil died) but does this make him a hero or legend? Although my favourite player when he was here, I dont know if i would classify McFadden a legend. Maybe i will if he does eventually come back at some stage in his career. I can only praise him in the way he speaks about motherwell and this sets him apart from the rest and for this reason i would stay he is a "hero". Its like he is genuinely thankful for what we did for him and I hope Mark Reynolds will turn out to be the same. We can see in the papers its too much about money nowadays to have legends the way we used to ie guys who spend their career at one team, etc. We have to appreciate that it probably will never happen again at Motherwell. But when the players show us some respect then they have the makings of at least being a "hero". I think the last person i would say is a legend is Phil. I had always thought he would have ended up a coach or stayed with us in some respect after he hung up his boots. I think Craigan might be the same. On the other hand, I do not class Davie Cooper a Motherwell legend. First and foremost, he was a Rangers player and it angers me that we have a stand named after him when so many other players did so much more for the club than Cooper. I am too young to remember but from hearing people speak about him, I know how much of a fantastic player he was and I am not disputing that. Naming a stand after him was a little premature. Im my opinion, it would have been like Celtic naming a stand after Phil before we had a chance to do anything when they classify him as a motherwell player first (the pic on their scorebords after he died was of him in a motherwell strip - which was a nice touch imo)
  5. So which is it? If its the 20th why is the 26th free? Sorry but i cant find these dates anywhere
  6. do we come in to the scottish cup in r5 then?
  7. Whats happening on 5th Feb + 12th Mar + 26th Mar that we dont have a game? Is this cup weekend? Or scotland?
  8. I cant actually remember hearing any motherwell songs on saturday. Maybe if you did sing some motherwell songs people would join in. The songs that are sung are completely cringeworthy. Yes, the one about randolph was funny the first time but now its sung all the time and getting a bit old, same about the bob mchugh one and also the marky reynolds one. I was thinking all the wee boys had learned a new word and had to sing about it in every song. That isnt supporting the players. Im not sure Jamie Murphy up front will hear any of the songs and think "oh i better try a bit harder because they are singing about our goalie and a Saturday"!!! etc etc I agree with the guy that said he is sick of all the "im a better fan than". Well, i afraid that just because you sing does not mean you are a better fan than people who do not sing.
  9. oh yes because it is absolutely hilarious that people were there to watch the game as has been said our goalie's vision could have been affected so it was completely idiotic. can someone inform me how letting off smoke bombs "creates an atmosphere?"
  10. Once again all the "im a bigger fan because i shout" "i pay my money ill do what i want" carry on starts. FWIW, I dont sing at the games and in no way does this make me less of a fan than someone who sings for the full 90 mins. We got tickets for the end of the east stand and eventually got moved to the south stand because I paid for a seat, I want to be able to sit in it. I couldnt see at all, wasnt interested in standing up and singing and also, I had a back op recently and it was hurting me to stand. My point is everyone may have their own reasons for not "creating an atmosphere" as it were. It is up to the individual how they want to act. Here we go again, the boo boys, the happy clappys etc etc. Give yourself a break and act how you want and dont bother about anyone else. Your wasting your time. If the first poster thinks because he posted here that the POD stand will sing at the game on sunday his head is in the clouds. No one can tell anyone else how to act at a game.
  11. Nah, that wasnt me. Like i said i knew it was my fault because i was late down and didnt think it would be a sell out.
  12. Maybe I missed it but i think they should have held ST seats until a certain date like they have done before and i would have went down earlier. I honestly didnt think it would be a sell out.
  13. The east wont be full as they dont sell the seats round about the pillars. They need permission from the H&S officer today to open the south to home fans as well. Got really rubbish seats. Although i admit i should have went earlier it really bugs me that someone who doesnt go to the home games might be sitting on my ST seat.
  14. A celtic fan made that? Really? You would never know, the only mention of celtic is 1 line in the song. Never seen that before, its something else
  15. I thought Reynolds was shocking, never a left back. The space he had was unbelievable - something that would have suited Hammell if he was fit & O'brien perfectly to link up down that left side. I was shouting at the team to switch it to the left before getting so angry that Reynolds didnt both to make himself known and was quite happy to let the game on saturday pass him by. I cant understand the decision by JG to have Reynolds mark someone who i had never even heard of - players like mcgeady who can cause you problems i agree with marking them - but Allan Johnstone? WTF was that about?!? Anyway - onwards and upwards eh
  16. i dont get that. You dont go to watch the stewards or police. You go to watch the game which shouldnt bring you any trouble if you focus on the game and ignore the home fans. Something else i dont get is our fans that go to the OF games just to cause bother and wind up the other fans. A few seasons ago, we were stuck behind an idiot that done nothing but stand up and shout to the other fans (cant remember which ones) it costs you more than £20 to go and you dont bother with the game? more money than sense
  17. I could have as well. But decided I wouldnt be able to sit in amongst the Celtic fans and keep my mouth shout if we scored. I always get more worked up at OF games so chances are id let the cat out of the bag. I dreamt we were 4-0 up within the first 17 mins*. So ill go with that * Of course the fact Pierre Van Hooijdonk (sp) Samaras and Steven Whittaker were all in the Celtic team doesnt matter. Seriously, I think we'll get something on Saturday. Ill go for a corner on 88th min, with a Sutton header to win 1-0. Or a scrappy 1-1 with a pen and someone sent off hopefully mcdonald.
  18. was gutted at result, thought the boys played fantastic. i would have maybe started with mchugh up front in place of sutton with murphy alongside him. Just someone with a bit of pace specifically to tire Weir out even more, and if we bagged a goal, great if not then bring sutton on. i think for dundee utd next week, we need to rethink the situation up front. we cant play sutton and murphy together when sutton is up front him self. murphy is posted missing unless he is upfront with a.n other. nothing against the boy as i think he has great potential.
  19. i might be wrong but im sure he signed a pre-contract last jan, so wouldnt be included in the summer signings
  20. although i agree that it was unacceptable, what made me more angry was the fact that that band of supporters were the atmosphere in the park and obviously well heard within the ground. So why not sing motherwell songs and cheer on the team you paid to watch and, em, support?
  21. rather than being the end of craigan, im pleased our manager can make "strange" subs if he feels it will change the game. compare with mcghee who, while losing, wouldnt change anyone. the message to the players is that no one is safe, so hopefully this will give them a boot up the backside. it will also be hard for other managers to cope with changing teams, formations etc and adjust to our play which we can benefit from if they cant keep up.
  22. oh yeah, im really bothered if kinniburgh reads the boards, nobody had an opinion on him anyway!!!!
  23. aye but why not just come out and say it?
  24. if the young boys dont crack under pressure then i see us getting top 6. really like the look of gannan and what he has been offering so far. the one thing i will say is that he has to be careful not to burn forbes, slane & murphy to a lesser extent etc out.
