Vigurs was a class act again today. Things have been working for him recently and its great to watch. Reid is beginning to win me over too, his first touch let's him down at times but he's pretty fast, fit and solid tackler. A pre season with the team could do him good as well.
  2. Celtic at home for the gate and Dundee utd at home would be good. Assume we'll get Aberdeen away. Anyone know when the fixtures will be released?

I've been quick enough to critisise him in the past so credit where its due, big goonar had his best game for us last night. Promising performance and hope he keeps it up. Made some really good stops, to keep us two up and had they scored to go 2-1 anything could have happened. Collected a few crosses too. Couple dodgey kick outs but no danger so can live with that.
  4. Frustrating to only come away with a point after being 2 up but at least we came back to get one and great play from vigurs to set it up. The decision to take faddy off was bizarre and I think may have cost us. Lasley was clearly struggling with an injury, could see it in the first half and IMO should have been replaced ahead of both ainsworth and McFadden. Thought Murray put in another decent performance at LB, perhaps a long term replacement for hutchy in his natural position. Stanton looked good for them.
  5. Breeds from the top - no wonder their team are so miserable and have underachieved for the last god knows how long. Having said that, slightly pessimistic for this one. Hope to see leitch keep his place. Hopefully faddy and vigurs can continue their partnership from last week.

A few notable performances. Vigurs was immense and linked up with faddy well today. Solid debut performance from leitch, looks to be more direct than carswell and maybe has a few goals in him. Hollis for not being a complete bungle merchant. But set up 3, scored 1 and just generally a league above today, it has to be faddy.
  7. Mcfadden and vigurs were outstanding today. Very solid debut from leitch. And good to see a keeper who takes some responsibility for what comes into his box! Don't quite get the hype around reid...he's done OK but nothing more, in fact he didn't stop the cross enough for me today but solid in the tackle with a bit of pace, happy enough with him just now I suppose. Also thought zfa played well up untilhe got injured, not sure what well do at LB next week. Only other worrying thing is lasley looked to be struggling a bit before he came off. Could do with him fit....always!
  8. Was about to post pretty much this. Bang on. If it doesn't work out playing a youth player over a half fit player then at least you can understand why the change was made. Hard to justify playing a half fit team when it doesnt pay off.
  9. I don't expect a high level of consistency with results. I do expect a high level of consistency with effort, fitness (with those deemed 'fit' to play), hunger, and quality (to a degree). This season, I can't say I've seen that in most of the games we've lost.
  10. Did you read the rest of my post? I'm agreeing that our points total is good. What bothers me is when we don't pick up points, the manner of it. Top six or bottom six aside (quick look on the website shows), in the league, EVERY game we have lost has been by more than 1 goal. Not to mention 10 man Aberdeen and Albion rovers. Why is it so wrong to question this aspect of our season?
  11. Do people not understand that it isn't the points total anyone is complaining about. Its the manner of defeat. We have a fantastic record against bottom 6 teams but if you look at the results I can only think of think of 3 that were convincing which was during our winning run. When we lose, on the other hand, it tends to be more than convincing. Is it so wrong to expect better than what has been dished up at times, for example Tuesday/ Friday and most importantly both cups?
  12. Lets face it, not many of last nights starting 11 deserve a place but my team would be: Stewart Reid hutchy McManus hammell Lasley leitch Ainsworth mcfadden thomas Sutton No chance of that but hey. 2-2.

Null vote. Hard to award pass marks to anybody tbh. Whoever is voting neilsen must be at the wind up!
  14. Spot on. Dont believe lasley, carswell or vigurs were fit for tonight.
  15. The usual inbalanced mish mash of players in midfield whenever we have injuries... Butterfingers Reid hutchy mcmanus hammell (No RM) (3 CMs) vig cars las zfa Sutton anier Vigurs and hammell off at ht for faddy and ainsworth who played left and right mid, zfa to left back. It was clear a few players were unfit and I cant stand to see the constant inbalanced team line up. Same on friday except we had no left mid. The young lads on the bench must be scratching there heads as to how the fuck they can't get a game ahead of that shite on the park.
  16. Shame for him but given our injury crisis and the fact carswell has been carrying a knock, probably a good thing.
  17. If we go with the same line up as Friday, I can't see us winning. The shuffling of the team weakens us so much imo. If we go with a right back as opposed to hammell there, I would like to think murray might be given a shot but it will more likely be Reid. Would also like to see leitch get a chance, he is a centre or left mid isn't he? We lacked in energy down the left on Friday. Gunnar Murray/reid hutchy McManus hammell Ainsworth Lasley vigurs\carswell leitch Sutton McFadden Heart says 1-0 well, head says 2-1 st j.
  18. This!! That is my main criticism of McCall, despite the great job he has done, his juggling of the team at times like this baffles me. Take our starting line up last night for example.... Hammell at right back, zfa at left back and three centre mids in a midfield four. I don't see how that is better than playing an inexperienced right back who player for player isn't necessarily better, but allows the team to retain some sort of balance and consistency.
  19. Well I'm glad you at least opened your mind to the point I was trying to make. I can't be arsed repeating myself again. He was awful early season, much better recently and dont forget he was a class act when he rejoined last season. I massively disagree with those saying he is finished at SPL level.
  20. Riordan is a wee ned with a bad reputation off the park which makes him unpopular amongst most fans anyway so that is probably the worst example you could have given. Forget wages because neither of us know what he earns. If he was a nobody signed from the lower leagues of Scotland would you really be disappointed with his contribution since December?
  21. Agree to disagree I guess but I see it from a different angle. If he wasn't James mcfadden people wouldn't expect the unexpected and critics would be happier with his contributions since december. Good post from 'Noah dosser' a few posts back. The club really needs to address the young talent not getting their chance. However, if these guys genuinely aren't good enough then we have other issues needing addressed. Either way something needs to be done if we are to sell at least a player a season to keep financially stable.

    Dundee Utd

I don't know because I don't know what wages he is on. Do you? And I don't mean what you assume him to be on. I agree that faddy is no longer the world beater he was 10 years ago but he still has a lot to offer in experience if nothing else. He still shows he has class, and you can't fault his effort. Utd made life difficult for him, no one notice ciftci doubling up on him second half? I said it in the other thread, forget the player he was, there is still a good player there.
  23. Agree with the comments about hutchy regressing this season. IMO he's making more errors than before. I thought first half of last season he was awesome but hasn't carried that through. Whether that's down to interest shown in him, hes possibly getting ahead of himself and taking more risks at the back. Having said that the pass back shouldn't have been a risk, thats back to the basics. Those that say faddy is finished at this level, are you for real?? He's not the world beater he was when he was 20, but since Christmas has still been one of our best players. He's been playing with his heart on his sleeve and showing some class. Forget his reputation and remove 'McFadden' from the back of his shirt and everyone would be happy with him. He's not the player he was at his peak but to suggest he is finished at SPL level is mental. And I don't know how many times I have said it this season but I don't know what we'd do without keith lasley. He's 35 later this year and still the fittest player at the club but unfortunately he won't last forever. Hope we have another gem like him in the youth ranks that can fill his boots one day.

Faddy and Keith show again. Voted Keith as I went for faddy last weekend.
  25. There is a big difference between throwing in a bunch of kids and giving a young player (right back/left mid for example) a chance, while still keeping shape and balance to the team when our squad is depleted. Bit of a disappointing trip but part of me expected it tbh.
