Of course we will need to. I'm not saying we wouldn't. Anyway I suspect ainsworth will stay and probably aniers situation will be out of our hands.
-
Is it going to be though? We cant assume we're going to play like that from now on given the season up to now. Like I say based on saturday, absolutely keep both. But are they both going to find that level of consistency that will help push and keep us ahead of the other top 6 teams?
-
See this is where I'm split on the matter. The post above is a good one and the recent wins suggest we should not be giving up on the league (therefore keeping the two loanees)....However the fact is we're nearly halfway through the season and things still aren't clicking yet. And we need to ask why? Are there better options out there that might make us click? Would it be worth freeing up the wages to bring someone else in? Or giving the likes of moore/leitch/erwin their chance? Still havent made my mind up. After saturdays performance I'd keep both, but had you asked me on friday I'd have definitely said otherwise.

Not sure if its posted elsewhere but frombbc gossip today: Sheffield United manager Nigel Clough says forward Jamie Murphy, who appeared poised for a loan return to Motherwell, has worked his way back into his plans

If it can help to improve crowds or atmosphere in scottish football, which the stat above suggests it might, then for me its absolutely a no brainer.
-
Exactly. That's the most smoke bombs, fireworks, flares etc I've seen at a game in scotland, not to mention the fucking state of the south stand, and not one arrest? Have seen home and away fans ejected for much less on many many occasions. These scumbags are becoming untouchable and they know it. Not good enough from the police and stewards and it isn't going to get better with their blind eye attitude.

I'm far from saying McCall out just yet. But he does need to change his approach. Things haven't gone for us this season and rotating the same underperforming players in the same ineffectual system isn't working.
-
Its now on the official website and in the other thread. Knee cartilage injury...out for the season. He must be gutted. Wish him all the best.
-
Any indication as to what and how bad Erwin's injury is yet?
-
I suppose not renewing the loanee contracts in January frees up a couple wages. Personally I'd be happy with that. Apart from his wonder goal ainsworth isn't showing enough for me. He is particularly inconsistent. As for anier, I can't decide if I love him or loathe him. Good finisher and flashes of brilliance but goes missing and can be completely ineffectual at times. If were forking out wages for loan players (especially just now), they should be contributing more consistently.

Had never done a null vote before this season....think this is my 4th
-
Dont see it happening though, has he not just signed a 2 (or 3?) year deal at the end of last season?
-
Don't even know what to say. Team looks flat, bored, unfit, lethargic and uninterested as they have for 90% of the season. Seasons over. Fuck knows how were sitting 3rd, no chance we'll get away with it for much longer. Mid bottom six finish if this shite carries on. We should move some players on in January and bleed the youths. That will not happen though - McCall won't do that despite it being club policy. He doesn't seem to want to, the only youngsters he has brought through is carswell and zfa...and that's only this season after 3 years at the helm.
-
Agree with you there. Personally think Kerr's better in the centre though. Reckom we have a ready made replacement for hutchy if he leaves.
-
Picked Lawson but could just have easily went for Kerr or Moore. On another note, credit where its due...big gunner also had a good game. What he had to do he did well but generally looked much more comfortable and less hesitant in what he was doing. Hope it continues.
-
Can't see past Fraser Kerr myself based on his performance at centre half. Only player of ours near it. Looks a good replacement for hutch should he leave in January. Also, Moore did more in his 20 odd mins than anier did in his 70. Hope he gets a run of games to see what he can do. Hopefully seeing a bunch of teenagers piss all over us encourages McCall to give some of our young lads a shot at it.
-
Where to begin? We were utter shit, utd were excellent at times and we were beaten by a far superior team. It has not worked for us this season at all really, our points tally remains respectable but performances have not. Must now be time for McCall to shake things up...take a gamble by either trying a different set up or giving the young players the chance to stake a claim in our current set up. Persisting as we are isn't working. The one thing Dundee utd should be embarrassed and ashamed of though is how often and how much time they're players spent on the ground feigning injury. Call me old fashioned but i didn't think Scottish or indeed British teams behaved like that.
-
If Ramsden plays I suspect it'll be at right back to keep some sort of consistency in defence. Will be really surprised if he does play though. Assuming both Ramsden and Hammell don't play I'll go: Neilsen/Hollis Kerr Cummins Mick ZFA Ainsworth Lasley Carswell Faddy Sutton Anier Predict a similar game to Tannadice so i'll say 2-2
-
That is a ridiculous stat to quote given his lack of appearances. And wrong since he was on the park for both goals against hearts.
-
In general, I agree. But last night wasnt exactly normal circumstances...80 mins against 10 men to go into a semi final draw with st j, ICT and hearts. It was our best chance to win a cup for a while which is what's so sickening that we didn't capitalise (thats not to say that playing any of those teams is easy). I expect Aberdeen will go on to win it now.
-
Hollis Same back four McFadden Lasley Lawson vigurs Sutton Moore Never going to be the lineup but....flat 442, think we need to turn our attentions to our more experienced players in midfield. while I've been a critic of vigurs I do feel there's a player there who could come good. Zfa form has dipped massively and Anier was murder last night - seems to make the same mistakes too often, we need a spark too which is why I have opted for the youth of Moore.
-
Really? Fair enough then. From where I was sitting I thought it had taken a deflection and incredible reflexes from langfield. The passage of play felt like it was going to be a goal. Probably not as good a save after all.
-
For 15-20 mins yes but for 80?? We should have tired them out and worn them down but instead we lumped crosses in from deep. Bread and butter for the likes of Anderson, Reynolds and considine. The one time zfa hit the touchline carswell had an effort which somehow (and fuck knows how) langfield saved, need to see that again. Had we scored first last night I am sure we would have won. The game was crying out for a playmaker like faddy, i dont care if he has been poor so far this season, we needed some sort of creative spark and he could have been it. We are missing law so much.
-
Ramsden the only one of our players really deserving of it. Up and down the right side all night, looking fit and think I prefer him there to hateley.
-
Absolutely gutted with that last night. I know it can be difficult to play against 10 men but generally you are talking for 15-20 mins, not 80 mins - we should have been able to crack them in that time. Ive never felt so deflated as a motherwell fan. If I didnt have a season ticket or we were away this sunday I dont think I'd bother....
