  1. Rant start: One of the things that has pissed me off most throughout this whole saga is Doncasters handling of the tv situation. He really has no clue. Correct me if I'm wrong here but sky/ESPN have made no official statement saying that they are reducing cost of the deal. But Doncaster has openly come out and valued the TV rights at a pathetic £3M. 1. £3M is an insult to Scottish football. The product HE is supposed to be an ambassador for. 2.That sets the bar for TV companies. They now know that the SPL will accept in the region of £3M so are never going to offer anything in the region of say £15M. 3. Has there been any official word (ever?) on an SPL tv channel? Not as I recall, 50,000 subscribers at £5 per month (pennies really), or 25,000 at £10 per month (and so on) is £3M. I dont know the scale of numbers but surely they could be looking at maybe 250,000 subcribers plus advertisements minus running costs and the rest can be split equally between the clubs for a change...this would work out better for all clubs involved, except maybe celtic. Why are these things never at the front of these idiots minds at times like this. Instead of wasting most of pre-season scare-mongering, making stuff up and generally making twats of themselves to eventually get teams to vote and arrive at the outcome of 'apply the rules', why can't they start off by applying the rules and then work on alternative scenarios for the long term sustainability of the game? I.E. Models that dont revolve around 2 teams. How the likes of Doncaster and Regan can go about their business in this fashion and still be in their positions is beyond me. Rant nowhere near over but i'll finish there.
  2. Ok, I appreciate that but a few hundred grand is hardly insubmountable is it? What about the financial cushion from the well society?
  3. No idea mate, all I'm saying is that it will take more than a debt of a few hundred grand to put us in admin.
  4. We have no debts, posted a small loss last year, MIGHT not be getting the derisory amount of sky tv money that we usually get and no 2 home games v rangers. The euro games and sale of a player will cover this. Even if we dont sell we'll post another small loss. Admin??? F**k me.
  5. While the result was disappointing, it was just a friendly... To be honest out of the starting 11 no one really impressed. But if theres positives to be taken, I thought out of the young boys that came on, hetherington and Francis-Angol really added something to the team and looked good whenever they got on the ball. In fact i actually thought that hetherington looked like a young, energetic Jennings! And if those half hour cameos are to go by then maybe the squad isn't so thin after all.
  6. This is a good idea Yoshi-1991, have you sent it to the club through the steelmen forever campaign?? The got an idea section: http://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/the-club/steelmen-forever/ideas If I was to throw in an idea to add it would be to get one of the fringe players not on the bench, or even better a first team player thats not involved due to injury or suspension or whatever to help with the supervision. Or even just make a visit to the kids section at half time to sign autographs and say hello. Pretty sure most young lads would love that at that age and would help to encourage more along.
  7. Wow! Didn't see that coming...let us know if you get a reply mate?? As for DVD's i think a good shout would be a compilation of legendary Motherwell moments fom the last 10-20 years such as these that spring to mind... Van der gaags goal Skippy sunday Fitzy v hearts CIS semi 6-6 Euro days Anytime Faddy touched the ball And so on...
  8. Might sound a bit strange but while im in the mood......how about a million dollar homepage style thing on the official site? Fans, local businesses, sponsors, players, general stakeholders etc could pay a small fee per month for a brick which links to a website, facebook page, twitter, charity page or whatever they want really...
  9. Well said. Spl clubs have done right by spl fans so time for fans to repay. Home and away. Dont forget at least another 9 clubs voted no. Scottish football was dying under the stranglehold of the old firm and now we have the chance to rebuild. Neil Doncaster can f*ck off.
  10. It is a shame to see clancy go but I believe that in Saunders we have a better player and Page is beginning to prove his worth so don't think he will be too sorely missed. Plus we have Devlin who will hopefully step up this year. Seems mental that we have to cut the wage bill by 4k per week. Dont usually hope to sell anyone but think we might need to this summer.
  11. Great stuff today. Humphrey was incredible - won the penalty, set up two directly and had a say in another too. Also great to see murphy play well again and score.
  12. What a load of sh*te. Last week after the hearts game they were on about some banner that hearts fans didn't even have. To take the limelight away from the disgusting behaviour of their vile manager perhaps?
  13. Page. Really rose to the occasion I thought and dealt with everything Aberdeen threw at him and had fallon by the balls. He looked like he'd been playing there all season. That showing must have put himself in the frame for starting spot more often.
  14. Of course a good centre half is more that just a good headerer of the ball! And i agree its annoying when folk assume that. But which aberdeen player exactly is going to run at our defence? Maybe megginson from out wide where hopefully hammell/ hateley will deal with it. IMO its more mental to suggest playing jennings CB up against vernon and fallon and further weakening our midfield! As I said in my previous post if we have a capable young lad then that's the best bet. Sounds like cummins is coming in anyway and hopefully he has a stormer!! Surely murphy gets benched for this one??
  15. Fair point, and despite my previous post I too am not a fan of the idea of higdon at CB. However, the thing is stepping up from the 19s isnt just about being a good defender, its also stepping up the pace, pressure and dealing with the rough and tumble that the opposition will dish out. Higdon might not be the best defender but he ticks all the other boxes. If we (and I hope we do) have a youth player that mccall feels can step up then it would possibly be our best bet and a great chance for them too!
  16. Assuming aberdeen play the same way as yesterday and las, crags, clancy and hutchy out, I'd want to see 3 in the centre of the park, sometimes it was as if our midfield wasnt there. Though I hope mccall just does the obvious thing and brings in carswell rather than attempting some concoction of hateley and law with humphrey at RB or something. No idea what to do at centre back, maybe higgy at a push, can mckinnon play and more improtantly is he any good? Two options IMO, depending on whether or not we have a good enough young CB: Randolph Hateley Page Higdon Hammell Jennings Carswell Humphrey Law Daley Ojamma Alternatively, a youth player at centre half, higdon up top and henrik out wide instead of Daley.
  17. Was close to a null vote but went for law. Not his best game by any means but he got his goal and had the right attitude in the second half. Humphrey should have been on much earlier, if not starting.
  18. He was on the right for the first half and changed to left for the second. He had a rotten game today anyway and Humphrey needs to be brought back in for next week.

    Ojamaa

Thats why I personally am confident that he will be a success at us. Yes, spl teams and players will adapt to counter him and he might not keep up the scoring rate but his workrate is incredible. Theres never a lost cause to him and he does the work of 2 players.
  20. Really? I thought he had at least 18 months
  21. I think that's because the English window closed a day later or something. Agree with most - 250k is embarrassing if true, surely the club wouldn't accept that?
  22. Anyone actually know a figure for murph? Hes gone off the boil of late but we know what hes capable of and IMO 250k is an insult.

    Ojamaa

Typical. Why can't they just f@ck off. However, I saw on sky sports news that ojamaa apparently wants to stay on. Let's hope we can get something sorted ASAP.
  24. Great game and great result. Henrik was fantastic again, so hope we can get him long term. Lasley also deserves huge credit for his finish. I think Jamie needs a rest for his own good. Hes a good player but lost confidence and things really haven't been going his way of late. From where I was it looked like a penalty but I thought hammells shirt was getting pulled as he was clearing it which is why it was a poor clearance, not seen it again though.
