I think your getting confused with the article which suggested we got better value for money out of him in terms of saves per wage. Yes he's prob one of the lowest paid keepers in the SPL but surely I'd guess that both of Caley's keepers earn less and that Gretna's keeper last season was on less.

Whilst I understand AndyJ's frustration, the truth is that if there was a chance the pitch was playable today then I think the ref that could've called for a second pitch inspection later today. This is nothing to do wi a big team calling favours wi the SFA over a "wee" team. An early call off is the right thing to do as it means fans on both sides don't have to waste holidays and can make alternate plans. Its also means that professional fulltime players can spend the day training rather than waste time travelling and can also mean that the Inverurie players can make arrangements wi their work to make sure they get time off for the next game well in advance without messing their work around by doing it only an hour or 2 before they leave work. AndyJ, given our well-documented problems over the past few years, if the game was at Fir Park would you not be calling for an early kick-off so your players and fans weren't messed around?

If thats the case and I were McGhee, I'd consider offering Caley a small amount of money and getting Fraser down here as soon as and get him used to playing with our back four. Buzz is a good fairly reliable keeper but it would be much more to our advantage to get Fraser in the sticks. As I said earlier, I reckon this is for backup and am still hopeful Buzz signs a new contract. Serious competition for first team place would surely help Buzz and could lead to him stepping up his game a little further as we look to seriously challenge in the top half of the table.
-
Whilst he's hardly likely to set the heather alight, he's also hardly likely to cost a lot in wages and would be a good back-up keeper. I appreciate it goes against what McGhee has said recently but I can't see this signing as being for the first team.

I think thats reason enough for a banning order!
-
If its because of that then we wouldn't have been invited back after the first year.

Its not as easy as saying its worth a couple of positions in the league because you would need to add on Porters salary and bonuses on top of this. Taking the cash the now would give us some money in the bank plus a freed wage in which to bring in someone else and given we've got Sutton to replace Porter then we could look to strengthen in other positions. As you say it isn't an unreasonable offer but given that Porters a proven goalscorer, I'd be looking for a bit more before I'd let him go.
-
On what basis does Sutton lead the line better? Even when Porter wasn't scoring, I'd say his work-rate and link-up play was better than that of Sutton. I do think that Sutton and Porter are similar type players and that Sutton will be able to replace Porter without any major change of tactic. I don't think any of us will be to upset when Porter leaves providing its to anyone apart from a Scottish club. At this moment in time I think it would be a bigger problem were we to lose Clarky out of all the strikers we've got.

I was given 4 (I'm the only bugger in Fir Park tall enough to reach the boards!) The other 4 must be lost or are broken.
-
Mibbe's the club could've done it at the last game if they had enough number "1"'s to make all 3 boards display that it was season ticket number 11 for the Hearts game. We deserve better!

I can see what you are saying but its quite harsh to call them journeymen. Given we've won little domestic trophies, the achievements of those who won these trophies earns them the right to become legends. Becoming a legend is something our first team should hope to become. I bet Shaun fagan and Marc Fitzpatrick hope to have won a similar amount of medals as Ian Angus and Iain Ferguson.

Fir Park is fit for purpose. Can we host a football match in it tomorrow? Of course we can. Is Fir Park financially viable in the long term - No, not in its current state. the list of reasons Onthefringes will have to be complied with in any new stadium. The only thing is that it may not be the clubs problem in the long run if we go down the same route as Falkirk.

What actions will the Trust be taking forward into this new year Fraz?
-
Can I ask that the Trust consider posting newsletters online (a wee link on some of the messageboards would boost the viewing numbers!) and letting non-Trust members see what the Trust are currently working on/achieving? I appreciate that a newsletter is considered a benefit of becoming a Trust member but it would open the Trust up a little more to non-members and might detract some criticism that they are doing nothing.

Lip69 does make a valid point about the press release. Yes the Trust want to let the actions of the meetings known but is a press release the best way to do it? In a time when sports journos are filling space with transfer rumours, what newspapers exactly will run with the story. In answer to FrazzaB's post that 9/10 folk don't tell the trust anything - is that not down to the fact that the Trust only represent 1 out of 10 folk (though giving an estimate I believe this will be could be as low as 1 out of 30!). Why the need for fans to go solely through the Trust? Fraz mentioned at the start of his post about the meeting with the Wellboys that everyone was approachable so why can't a fan speak to the right folk if they have an issue? I speak as an ex-Trust member, I left as I was fed up with the Trust failing to make any worthwhile contribution of note. The Trust have always had board members who I believe have their heart in the right place but are let down by the remaining board members and this is still the case today. It may be harsh but the Trust to me are failing because of their failure in the past to deliver anything of note to the club and its members. Whilst I wish some of the posters on here all the best in their positions with the Trust, they will have to go something to change my mind that the Trust is the right thing for both Me and the club.

Don't think it was a bit of a catch 22. If the Trust had issues with stewarding and policing - why hadn't the Trust sought to raise these issues with the Head Steward and Match Commander long before now instead of discussing these with the previous Chief Exec?
-
The one thing I wouldn't aim at Fir Park is it not being "fit for purpose" - its purpose is hosting fitba matches what else. Moving to Ravenscraig (which I'm neither for or against) won't give us the same platform as Killie or Falkirk as purpose built hotels and conference facilities will be built elsewhere in Ravencraig> If we move to Ravenscraig then I can see us only having a football ground.
-
The Trust were openly invited but the purpose of the meeting was for the Wellboys to meet with the stewards/match commander and vice versa. Yes the trust had their own points of view which they wanted to put across but I find it astonishing that the Trust have been speaking about stewarding/police interviews to the wrong peole in the club. The Chief Exec has a lot to cover and ain't as well versed as the head Steward and Match Commander on safety issues. While I can understand you wanting to stand up for the Trust I do see why people view it as the trust jumping on the bandwagon.

Talk of eating humble pie is a bit OTT is it not? All folk did was make a judgement on a player what they'd seen. Can anyone honestly say they didn't question why McGhee had signed him when he wasn't getting a game? Jim O'Brien has improved in the last few games and the standing ovation he received last night will let him know that if he continues to apply himself and work as hard as he did last night then he'll be treated well by the fans. Yes he has other parts of his game which he has to work on and yes it wrong if he's been abused in the past but if he'd put in the same effort at the start of the season then no one would have an issue with him. Before anyone jumps on my back, I haven't abused Jim in the past and have only questioned his place in the squad on the little action which no one can say meant he deserved a regular starting place. The guy has had a couple of good games but had yet to really do anything of any real note. Like everyone I hope he progresses from this and goes on to become a danger man. Just goes to show that you can only be Shite or Shit Hot on here wi no inbetween!
-
Calm down mate - we're working for the club on the day. Do you honestly think our club would give anything for free?
-
Mibby's we'll chuck folk out for sitting down when they should be standing up!
-
The result mattered more than the performance last night and its a big 3 points for us. I thought we played well enough although there is still room for improvement. I thought we were a bit guilty of trying to walk it into the net at times and our midfield are still putting pressure on the strikers to score by failing to even take a shot when it presents itself. A good win against a poor Hearts team - hopefully we use it to keep pushing on up the league.
-
Theres only ten stewards going and we are leaving at 8. Quite looking forward to it as it was the only way I was gonna go.

There are 2 main bodies providing the funding for Ravenscraig - NLC and Scottish Enterprise. There are a number of other private developers for various parts of the Craig. The main public sector funding for projects will happen in the next 3-4 years and will involve a number of community facilities.
