Thats not a name that I think many would've came up with on here but matches the profile of someone who we'd likely go for.

This plus add in the fact he has little knowledge of English lower leagues which have proved a fruitful hunting ground for us, I doubt we'd go for Hartley should McCall leave.

How many times have we heard that about youth players at Parkhead and Ibrox? Most of the Scottish media know fuck all about football with a prime example being Craig Levein getting a comfy ride in the national job despite him making a pigs ear of it.
  4. His new fitness and training ideas will be stuff he's picked up as a player at SPL level and applying them to footballers who were training part-time. I would doubt its anything revolutionary that isn't being applied elsewhere in Scotland. In the past our board have sought someone out with a good knowledge of English lower leagues which have been fruitful for us and I see know reason why we'd want to change that approach so that would probably rule Hartley out.
  5. St Johnstone have previous for ignoring Motherwell's advice on what the away support will be and making their own estimate. At the game Scott McDonald made his debut, St Johnstone only had a few turnstyles in operation as they believed we'd only take 500 fans when I'm sure it was a Scottish Cup game and Motherwell had informed them we'd take 2,000 - 2,500.
  6. The players The Rangers sign this season and next will be replaced by cheap foreign imports as soon as they get their promotion back into the SPL though. Any player who thinks they'll have a chance of being in an SPL winning The Rangers team are deluded.
  7. It was renamed before our first win against Celtic this season. The club announced the sponsorship a few days after the game on the website if I remember correct. The East Stand is still the East Stand as theres no seperate sponsorship deal for it.
  8. He only made 5 appearances for us. Here's a link from an interview from when he signed for us in which he denies he made the famous remark about virgins. http://www.thefreelibrary.com/Football%3A+ALL'S+WELL+THAT+ENDS+WELL+FOR+CURCIC%3B+Troubled+Sasa+loves...-a060290807 If I also remember correctly he used to stand out on the park as he wore what looked like white sport socks over his Motherwell socks.
  9. The creation of anything which makes teams afraid is something which I am not keen on. Being afraid in Scottish football means adopting an attitude and tactics which first of all mean stop the other team playing therefore you won't lose. Countering the play-offs with a bigger league is an absolute must in my opinion.

Quite ironic for a STV journalist to say someone cannot string 2 words together
  11. I think we should be adapting a less is more attitude with TV companies. To be honest, I've stopped watched SPL matches on TV as I'm sick of watching SPL teams given how often I see them at Fir Park. I'm sure I'm not alone in this either. Combined with a good league setup which reduces the number of times each team play one another, I would be more inclined to watch other SPL games play. I would do away with the ESPN package which will add value to the current Sky package as it would grant the owner of the package with exclusive SPL live TV rights. Given BT have bought the ESPN package and by the sounds of it want to be challenging Sky, then a bidding war between the 2 can only work to the benefit of the SPL clubs. TV Alternatively we could be looking to come up with a football alternative to the Formula One Concodat agreement where the clubs agree that SPL tv be shown on the free-to-air tv for purposes of maximum exposure to club sponsors. Both this year and last year, in Formula One it forced Sky to work with the BBC to come together and club money together to purchase the TV contract. Whats to stop BBC, Sky, ITV or BT Vision to do the same?
  12. Whats fair and sporting in a play off of the second bottom SPL team and the next highest 1st division team? the SPL team will have the better squad due to a bigger budget - Just look at Dundee's failure to properly prepare for the SPL to see the huge difference. Could the 1st division team do it over one game - possibly but the playoffs we've had in the past with a leg both home and away, I'd bet on the SPL team winning the play off the vast majority of the time. Personally I'd prefer to not to have playoffs at all - give me a bigger league with 2 relegation places without splits or playoffs with Saturday 3pm kick offs the norm. Its not to much to ask is it?
  13. Pandering to TV is what got our game into bother. Increasing the number of relegation places isn't healthy for our game to as many teams get back to making sure they don't lose as their number one plan. A poor Dundee team in this years SPL ensured that most teams could concentrate on playing their own game without putting so much effort into negating other teams. Potentially increasing relegation places to 3 would be a huge step back for our game. If Scottish football is going to introduce play-offs it should be between the teams in the lower division not the next lowest from the top league and the next highest from the bottom. The reason the english play-offs work so well is that it is between teams who have played positive football and have achieved high league placing throughout the season.
  14. Both Buzz and Stevie Woods were involved in Scotland squads. Correct me if I'm wrong but so also has Jamie Langfield and I sure as hell wouldn't want him in anything other than the away dressing room at Fir Park. All to often folk confuse being the best of a bad lot as international quality.
  15. Are we the only team who'se fans try and create rumours on their best players/coaching staff joining elsewhere? No doubt the same folk moan that we are a selling team who fail to get the best value for players when they move on. I can't see anything to be gained in wishing our best players a move elsewhere especially when a number of half-arsed journalists check these sites in the hope of filling column inches on quiet days. Whether its Faddy, Higgy or McCall, I'd much rather enjoy them while they are here. When they move on, naturally I'll be disappointed but at the same time optimistic as to who we'll bring in,
  16. Rest in Peace Auld Yin - Always sad news to hear of a fellow Well fan. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

    Maxim Park

South Stand is now called the Maxim Office Park Stand. I'm not sure how much the total deal is but a colleague had looked at advertising the sign at the top of the stand for the Ravenscraig Steelworkers Memorial Stand and was quoted somewhere in the region of £12-15K which incidently is a fraction of what it cost the Lanarkshire Childrens Games for the same space.
  19. One turnstyle is open until the end of the first half. After this time you'll have to either bang the gate or shout to get a stewards attention to let you in.

    Vs Dundee Utd

There will be a gate open in each stand until the start of half time.
  21. It won't be too long now till someone questions why the park is gettin pulled up again this summer.
  22. Unfortunately the club loses out from the business continuity insurance as the insurers see the raised crowd at the rearranged game and subtract a decent chunk of what the club is owed. It also means that should there be an emergency inside the stadium (like the Hibs game last year) then everyone leaves the ground safely without the need to dish out tickets
  23. 25p is the current cost to the club of printing a ticket within the printing contract. The new tickets will cost 2 or 3 pence each
  24. Its a temporary measure just now until the club get proper ticketed receipts printed which are a fraction of the cost of the current system. The club are only a couple of games into a new system which has done away with match abandoned vouchers. I agree it doesn't look the best just now but some of the constraints that the club work within are mind boggling.
