I can understand your thinking but for me Quinn was a better attacking full back although Corrigan offers more options in defence. Porter would be a better foil for Skippy who would profit from the big man's knockdowns. Does that mean that if Forbes is not playing then we don't have anybody who can create an opportunity? Technical skill and ability are allright when you are playing in a European type game where the midfield maestro can get time on the ball but we don't play many of them each year (probably because most of out midfield are cloggers) Hately by the way was signed as a defensive midfielder which is basically where Lasley plays when Forbes is in the team.

I would rather see Hately play midfield than Forbes, got a better engine, can tackle, can pass the ball every bit as well and is a good dead ball player. I don't think Fitzy does the same job as Jennings or Lasley but he could do as useful a job as Forbes.

Not what I mean't at all. Forbes has bags of talent, wonderful passer of the ball and he takes a good dead ball, however, if Lasley or Jennings are injured we don't have the back up to allow Forbes to play, therefore for a club like ours he is a luxury. However, if he learns how to tackle, that his right foot is not just for standing on and not need a 10 yard start for a 5 yard sprint then he will do wonderfully well at Motherwell.

Reynolds for me. Like Yir Elder I thought he strolled through the game. Forbes I think is too inconsistent and to one footed to be a top player. His passing at times was superb last night but he cannae tackle a fish supper. He is a luxury player but I don't think he is a luxury that we can afford to have.

I said it months ago and I will say it again. Get football off the TV and back to 3.00pm on a saturday or 7.30 on a wednesday. Highlight package on a saturday night and the same on a sunday tea time. Oh and when we are doing that lets bring back the bold erchie and his shredded wheat hair. No................... chance. Telly rules the game now so get used to it, the chairmen opened pandora's box and sold out a long time ago and the box will never be shut again. Unfortunately arm chair fans will be more the norm.

A European tour

First off apologies if this has been said already but I was on holiday last week and missed the game, what a bummer that was. However, having watched the highlights today on the BBC I must say if it was Fraser who lost that goal he would have been hung drawn and quartered and blamed for the other 5. Just like Celtic and Dundee Utd games the whole defence was shocking at times.

There are a few candidates for POTY, Sutton, Ruddy, Lucas and Hately to name a few but I voted for Crags. Although he didn't have a wonderful season and was responsible for a few mistakes here and there, his attitude, professionalism and desire to play for the club throughout the turmoil of gannon was an example to all. The leadership that he showed when Broon/Knox came in was wonderful and can only have been a good example for the younger players. Not a sparkling performance on the pitch but a wonderful performance as a leader and an ambassador for the club.

I wasn't happy when I heard that Brown and Knox were our management team. However, the manner in which the team has played since their arrival and his statement today that " I am a Motherwell man" makes me wonder why I doubted him. I look forward to the start of next season with baited breath. Away the 'Well

If we get the same weather this winter then the park is screwed. However, I don't know if we will need a complete new pitch as some areas look like they have survived betterthan others. The heavy wear areas goalmouths, etc have been turfed which should give it a better chance of gaining a grip. Unless we spend 6 weeks digging the pitch up again I think that the grass should get a better chance to knit together but that will still be dependant on weather, need a warmish, wettish period from mid May to mid July to give the grass a chance. However it is all dependant on weather

Ours is a new pitch which never got the chance to lay down a very strong root structure. If we had had a mild winter without too much frost the roots would have strengthened and we would have seen the benefit next term. Falkirk, St Mirren and Aberdeen's pitches were all atrocious but being a couple of years older they survived the harsh weather better and could recover quicker. By the way grass is one of the hardest plants to kill with an ability to survive drought and flodd with equal ease, however boiling the roots is one good way of killing it. To be fair to the club they have tried their best and have re-laid parts of the pitch unfortunately for Michael Fraser he stood on one of the new turfs and ended up on his arse.

I think the worst winter in 30 years contributed a bit as well and the stupid rule that you can't have a match postponed for weather, so you boil the roots of your pitch.

I think it is more to do with the higher water table than the lack of sunlight. I am sure that I read that as a reason for the digging out of the pitch last summer but I could be wrong.

If the materials used were those specified and those recommended then they would be within budget. Every firm/ constructor/ client tries the best to get the materials at the most competitive price but this does not mean they are cheap. Before anyone mentions poor workmanship it is harder to get away with this due to the increase in quality control measures across the whole industry. Construction is unfortunately like education everybody knows what it is all about and they can all have an informed opinion
