The real reaosn we are replacing the pitch is cos Davie wore out the old one with his constant running. Been rare to see a player work so hard for the team. All the best to him, and thanks for everything (including the tidy wee transfer fee).
Sad day but all the best to you, Clarkie, and thanks for the 100% effort and hard work you gave through good games and bad games. Your first start (against Partick?) at Fir Park is one I'll remember. You've been a great ambassador for the club and I hope you go on to hit further heights in your career. Cheers!
More interesting to me is the formation we are likely to play. I read somewhere that Gannon likes to play the 4-2-3-1 set up (or maybe it was 4-3-2-1?) Doesn anyone think John Sutton is cut out to play the lone striker role?
Fucking hell, having read charliettogood's post on P&B, I'm starting to wonder if maybe I am Jim Gannon. 'Mon sticking to yer principles, 'mon good discipline and good fitba'. And 'mon the (good) youngsters.
I presume he is in limbo or something. Out of contract (or shortly will be) and isn't training with us as far as I know and hasn't signed with anyone else.
The Nijholt talk was before news came in that Quinn, Clarkie and Reynolds were offski and, hence, most folks were presuming we would have ZERO transfer budget - which may actually still be the case...who knows?
I think there will be quite a few fire-sales at other clubs before the season starts, to be honest. And at least we are in the enviable position of having players other teams are actually willing to pay money for - good luck Killie and St Mirren cos you could be fecked. Kudos to the Motherwell board for cashing in now and not hiding their head in the sand over this.
And, of course, the shorter a player's contract is then the more contracts he will get to sign over the course of his career - and, thusly, the more 10% commission bonuses "earned" by afore-mentioned slimy agents.
