  1. I agree. I'm just saying if he DID go, I think it would more likely to be down there. Personally, I hope he is a career-man for us.
  2. Who is to say they aren't saying that? They don't control what the press chooses to print from interviews nor do they control what the media shows from interviews. Anyway, I am sure I have seen some quotes on this site a couple times already today saying McGhee loved his time at Motherwell and thanking everyone. And I hope Annan pump them out the cup too.
  3. Who else among the likely candidates has? Who sets the heather alight from those candidiates for you? Gordon Jizzum? Billy Reid? Chris McCart? No thanks. Nijholt would likely be the best of a bad bunch but at least he would bring something different to the table.
  4. And didn't McGhee say from day one that we were a stepping stone anyway? We knew what we were getting when we went with McGhee and he has been true to his word/past form. We got two forays into Europe out of him and now have an extra 200k in the kitty. Glad we had him, wish he was still here but now that he is gone I don't hold quite same bitterness as everyone else. He's been true to his word and we have come out of it a better club and a li'l richer. Fine by me. As for Leitch, really not understanding the pettiness here from certain Rangers fans on the forum. Who is to say that when (IF!!!) he was offered the Motherwell job he felt that maybe he wasn't quite ready to step up and take us forward and that he had more to learn from a thorough and professional gaffer such as McGhee before THEN feeling he was ready? Might not yet be the last we see of Leitch at Fir Park. I know we have just been jilted so it is easy to go with knee-jerk reactions but some of the bitterness is astonishing, even from a notoriously brutal Motherwell support.
  5. That's nonsense, is it not? All of them were offered contracts, no? EDIT: For what it's worth, I don't see Clarky going anywhere other than down south. Maybe if, somehow, Rangers or Celtic came in for him (which I doubt they would) then his future surely would be down south. Yes, you could say that other SPL clubs around our level may be able to offer him a few bucks more but I don't think he si the type to take the money while not really improving the standard he is playing at. Seems too emotionally attached and too much of a 'homeboy' to move North or East just for the sake of a few extra quid.
  6. We had to get rid of that bit when we signed Bob Malcolm.
  7. Hey, that's some of the best grass to be grown on Fir Park in the last 40 years you're talking about.
  8. Didn't realise he'd gotten a job. He's oot then.
  9. What current job? I thought he was free?
  10. *takes deep breath* What if Billy Davies got the job?
  11. Weirdly, it seems like the fitba' was a better standard back then too but that might just be the romanticism of time.
  12. Aye....but there's more votes NOT for Luc than there are for Luc.
  13. They'll probbaly just negotiate to play each other 30 times a season.
  14. Maybe if we threw in a toaster it would sweeten the deal enough?
  15. I'm sure JB is aiming at the 200 grand or as close to it as he can get. Get the wallet oot Milne. If you have one.
  16. I'd love it if it was 48 minutes! Let You-Know-Who know he was replaced PDQ.
  17. Magic! Gaun yersel' JB! Changed days from when he let Butcher walk out for nowt.
  18. Yep - but the players HE wants. McGhee would have been in teh same situation anyway - albeit maybe a week or two further forward.
  19. Not sure about that, I can't recall to be honest. I do remember the programme printing a map for journalists showing the way to Fir Park from Glasgow though - that was the year McLean's team finished 3rd I think and we were playing the best fitba' in Scotland.
  20. Not really understanding the outrage over McGhee leaving us with a threadbare squad. Personally, I'm glad about that. The new guy can bring in the guys he wants then and is not stuck with contracts for players he doesn't fancy/can't play in his system. The new guy is gonna have one hand tied behind his back financially anyway so why tie a 2nd hand behind his back? I think this works out pretty well for us. 'Mon the 'Well.
  21. Surely Hearts must be on shaky ground?
  22. Hopefully we are already doing this. I am hoping that as soon as McGhee signs the dotted line up at Pittodrie we announce our new manager. I am pretty much sold on Nijholt or an English lower-league up-and-comer. I don't think it benefits us - or Scottish football - just to see another of the same ol' managerial faces from the Scottish management roundabout.
  23. Shut off all the lights just now and you'll probably see him glowing in the distance somewhere
