Last year's team was last year's team.I'm not sure why everyone is expecting the new players, with a different style, to perform in the manner of last year's team. This team is clearly struggling to find it's own identity and it will take a wee while for that to bed in. You don't just magically flip a switch and everything is hunky dory after two weeks. Patience.

European competition is further spoiled by being too feckin big by half. It's not the 80s any more. Back then you had a few teams from Yugoslavia and a few from the Soviet Union. Christ knows how many extra teams are in it now since those two countries split into so many countries. Add Czechoslovakia to the list too. Maybe it IS time to regionalise the early stages
