If friendly games are no good why play them at all. If they are pointless as some are saying then maybe no teams should play them and just wait for the season to start. Get real. We need to play at least 6 pre season games. If we are in Europe then we should be starting playing them in mid June. Some welsh and Irish teams playing in Europe's early rounds would have relished a friendly against a top Scottish side. Mix it up a bit. A couple of games against sides we should beat easily and let the strikers get some goals. A couple of games against teams in the league below who will give us a test. And at least one against a decent english or foreign team to give us the runaround. And do away with these jolly boys outings to Portugal.

I've said it before Mccall is straight out of the Walter smith school. Smith in his hour of need always signed ex players or guys he worked with before . Also if his right back for example was injured ,rather than bring in the reserve right back, he would move a midfielder there and shuffle the whole team in order to keep his favourites in the team.

One thing thats for sure with the current side. We are so rigid and so predictable. We have absolutely no plan b. Winning, losing or drawing the subs are the same week in week out. 2 attacking players off 2 defensive players on. We are in serious need of a refreshing change in the team and tactics. Last season leitch and Moore came in and it was like a breath of fresh air. Guys like Erwin , Thomas etc need to be given a chance. This is why friendly games are vital, try out new systems and give players game time and a chance. Too many players are in that comfort zone and know they won't be dropped or even subbed. Sutton being the main one.

Post of the week. 100% spot on.

The only long term plan is.handing out 2 year deals to a guy approaching 35 and a 32 year old.
-
Yeah but I prefer to think of the present and the future. How long you want to live off finishing 2nd for? Put it this way, all the hard work of last season has already been a waste of time. Out of Europe in July. Magic.
-
Spot on as usual MJC. Getting the usual idiots already saying 'but we finished 2nd', blah blah blah. Everything from our scouting system to our training methods need a total overhaul. We signed 2 players this summer, one had played with us before, the other is an ex players brother. Typical Mccall signings. Hammell and lasley are finished and yet they are only weeks into 2 year deals. I bet come next summer vigurs still hasnt been offered a new deal and is allowed to walk away for free. Our system in games is also so fuckin predictable. Come the hour mark everybody in the ground knows ainsworth is gonnae be hooked and Kerr will come on. Mccall needs to be held accountable for the run of poor games against teams we should be easily beating but I won't hold my breath. Honestly so disheartened with things now.

Some questions need answered. Why is ainsworth subbed so early every game? Why is Kerr brought on to play at right mid when it never works? Why did we only play one decent friendly all summer?
-
Look, no one is gonnae bite so give it a rest.
-
Pretty sure there would be loads of clubs all over Europe, in far better financial position than us who are looking at Ojaama...sadly.
-
Really don't see why folk are having a go at Twardzik all of a sudden.
-
Think angol was injured.

Replacing Ainsworth with Kerr showed a sign of negativity. The other lot picked up on that and upped a gear. Also how many times did we get caught out down Hammells side because he was tucking in. The goal was always gonnae come from that side. Cannot believe we were 2 up and cruising and yet ended up being thanful for a draw, pathetic.

Everybody wants to win a cup and no one wants a day in the sun at Hampden more than me but for me the last 3 seasons have been superb and I wouldn't swap that for one cup win. If you gave me the choice of winning a cup this season coming but having 3 very poor league seasons or not winning a cup and finishing in the top 3 for the next 3 seasons I'd pick the league success. Yes st mirren, killie and st johnstone fans had a great day, but how many great days have we had recently. Watching motherwell in the last few years has been a joy. Shite teams can win a cup but it takes a good team to consistently finish 2nd and 3rd.

Superb work again ubh. Would love them as our kits.

Also playing rangers.

This is getting boring now. Some guys are jealous of decorator. Some guys want to pump decorator. Let's move on.

Be delighted to see faddy get a move to Hibs. Would be a good payday for him and chance of getting some coaching experience. Would be different if Hibs were still playing in top flight though as I'd hate to see him playing against us.
-
Pretty much. He appears to be like one of those old firm fans you get at work who never goes to run of the mill games but brags about getting tickets for the big cup or European games.
-
Total backward move if we sign Clarkson. Would like to think we have better options than that.
-
Celtic fans copy everything and claim it for themselves. Ynwa from Liverpool, the faithful through and through song from us. The huddle another thing,as well as the 'Irish' thing which was stolen from Hibs.
-
Losing Anier and signing Clarkson would be a step back for us. Higdon on the other hand would be wank material. Yes he's similar to Sutton but you can never have enough quality.
-
Fulham will be the only friendly we will see. The other 2 games before this will be behind closed doors.
