16 team is plenty as an 18 team league would need 21 teams ready for the first season and we dont have that. 16 is way forward, more competitive less repetition. Bring in a sectional league cup to offset amount of games. Even throw the old firm in the same section to keep sky happy. In fact fuck it make them all regional as the derbies all over the place might actually bring fans out to it.

Unfortunately this is an opinion of blinkered chairmen and fans alike. Far too many people in the game right now cant see the wood for the trees. We MUST take the opportunity here to make our SPL a more competitive league. Competitive doesnt mean richer! But if everyone is in the same boat it is irrelevant. There arw 2 ways to make the league more competitive. 1- Keep Rangers out. Less TV money? Who cares, id rather have a fair and equal slice of a small cake than a shoddy slice of a larger one. EVERY team, including celtic would just have to downsize so it would be a more level playing field. 2- Re-structure, bigger, fairer and more competitive league. The only reason we have a shitty small boring league playing teams over and over again is so sky get 4 old firm games. well sky can fuck off. If the spl had 16 teams there would be more of a challenge at the top as the bigger diddies would have less 'no chance' games in Glasgow, would half the amount of gamea agianst each other essentially just taking points off each other etc... This with euro an relegationplay offs for added excitement would be worth it even if there was less money - everyone would be in the same boat so it wouldnt matter!

Surely with the imminent demise of Rangers we should be looking at this year of all years to be jncreasinh our ST base. Clearly not many Rangers fans will jump ship to FP but there will be a fair few disillusioned 'ESPN loyal' or local families that might just might come along to watch SPL (and Champions League) football Surely it is worth trying, even the much talked about 'Bradford' scheme or just a flat attractive rate with some Psycholohical pricing and promote it like fuck, newspapers, radio. local buses. £199 Season Ticket or a Bogof or Kids ST for Twenty quid etc... I have said it over and over, the fact that a plastic seat sits empty inside the ground on a Saturday when someone is outside willing to pay a tenner for it is one if the biggest follies of our game. We are in a HUGE catchment area unfortunately traditionally monopolised by the competition. WELL when the competition's chips are down....it's time to raise the stakes...

Watched it there too not knowing the score, can only echo what everyone has said. Great performances all round that team. Without jumping the gun( or the pistols...) Henrik could be a real player, got a bit of the Vladimir Veiss about him but with a better attitude. Spoke very, very well in his Alba interview. Get him signed, as McCall put it he is getting only his bus fayre paid to him the now!! The win also lets that complete helmet crust of a ref off the hook. I reckon people just have so much affection for the guy, as do I but I'm going to get the tin hat on anyway... There are 'stalwarts' of MFC that have served the club well but have completely and utterly reached their level and as such we will never win a trophy or do well in Europe while they are around. Guys like Hammell, Lasley and Craigan, great Motherwell players, good guys too by all accounts have been found out too often by better teams, Old Firm teams especially do not fear these guys - and we were best of the rest for a good while this season and finalists in our nation's top cup competition last season! These guys either have a mental block or lack of ability that will allow them to take Motherwell any further and have ran out of time to develop either. Don't get me wrong they could continue to play for a Motherwell team that bounces around the middle of the SPL but in terms of actually winning anything or reaching a next level in Europe... Right tin hat on, moan then...
