  1. Let's have it right - an average of £310 a Season Ticket (or £294 paying early) is still FAR too expensive in this climate for sub-standard SPL football. Why are we sticking our head in the sand here? This was the time of all times to take a punt with the Season Tickets and get the price way down, market the Season Ticket as a real bargain and get the numbers up. At £294 average - if we get 18 homes and no cup games it is £16.30 a game - hardly a bargain!! Assuming there will be at least one 'pennies' game (like Hibs) and one 'Friend for Free, BOGOF' etc.. throughout the season and considering most miss one or two it is practically cheaper to not get a season ticket. Fairplay to those who sign up every year but the powers won't get the message. And if the standard £18 entry goes up (chances are if ST's effectively are going up) then it will end up being a smattering of diehard ST holders only at games with a few extra weans. Sub 4000 crowds next year? - absolutely.
  2. I agree, so seeing as MFC is the only good thing left in the town how about building a new stadium actual on Brandon Parade - god knows not like anyone will miss the charity shops and pound shops as that's all that's there. Then you have the football club at the heart of the town - with that might come more investment. Bingo - Motherwell FC IS Motherwell.
  3. Not many in Div 1 or 2 either I would suggest! It is the way forward hopefully that all big decisions come through the fans and LD has realised the benefit of using this site as one method of getting in touch with the fans. She realised very quickly too that the fact we all kind of know 'Flow from days running this shop was an advantage and while 'Flow has cut back on posting on here as a fan (he had to really) I have no doubt the views of the fans are never far away from the club even at board room level. That is really jammy tbh and I hope we see real benefits going forward. And well done on the award
  4. fsakegiespeace. I take it you feel discussing a possible stadium move as well as (ticket prices, fanbase etc.. that is also in the thread) for Motherwell F.C shouldn't be discussed on here and rather discussed on some sort of informal internet messageboard for fans to gather and discuss about Motherwell F.C - oh wait... And it always amazes me when people are fed up hearing about a subject they moan about it - why did you open the thread...?
  5. Magic! I can't believe there are punters here who a. Caught this little fishy b. Agreed with you!!!! my ACTUAL god!!!!!!
  6. Hard lines for the boy. He loved the club and would run all day and was fast as fuck, just lacked the quality cutting edge that other players have, first touch, vision etc.. Would still have loved to see him up front for a run of games as I reckon with confidence perhaps his pace and determination might have delivered - I mean how often do you get an actual fan from the East Stand playing for the team. Hope he gets picked up but it won't be more than a part-time gig at a Cowdenbeath/East Fife I reckon.
  7. Fair play JB/LD et al. Wasn't expecting this at all due to us losing potential cash from the Celtic game, or lack thereof. Should add A good couple of thousand on to the gate which is, to be honest, all we can hope for and still very good for a club of our size. I reckon at £18-£22 a pop on a Wed night on SKy we would have been lucky to break 4,500 regardless of the occasion so if we pull in over 6,000 it will be a success imo (although perhaps not a finacial one
  8. What I'm thinking everytime I see a thread about Motherwell FC Ladies/Cricket/Dominoes/I Spy squads.
  9. I remember saying to people after our Euro run that Forbes was so good that he would be bossing the Scotland midfield in a couple of years time. After that goal it was almost like - see, told you. Was in the end perhaps a bit too much pressure the expectations he set himself as I doubt I will be alone with this kind of tale.
  10. Swings and Roundabouts. If we go out to win and do so we will have a GREAT chance of finishing fourth if we beat Hibs at home. If we go out to win and lose then the 5th Europe scenario will unfold anyway.
  11. Nah, I wasn't advocating a 6000 seater just saying that we COULD get run of the mill crowds of 6000 by slashing prices, in agreement with Al B. Most on here don't want a 10-12,000 seater as it will be ridiculous with our current crowds of 4000 which could drop further, at least at 6,000 it wouldn't be so bad. I am firmly in the camp of a new stadium with a capacity of around 11,000 - 12,000 as if we were to build it even at 10,000 it couldn't attract many semis as with segregation it would drop to less than 10,000. And on the subject I have found a beauty Mode Stadion in Norway - Holds 11,200 - perfect size, compact and NOTHING like a Barr identikit but with similar capacity. I like how it has two tiers and corners (essential to make it different from the idenitkits) but the two tiers are close together and it has corner seating only in the upper tiers - vastly reducing costs imo). I think two tiered stadiums get pricey when they are essentially two structures - one overhanging the other, with their own internal concourses, access etc.. - this one is within our reach I reckon! A beauty!!
  12. 100% spot on. Won't happen in a bijillion years though as JB will need the usual punters through at £18-£22 to make up for the losses of missing out on Celtic at home. He will be hoping that the fact that is so important will add 500-800 onto the crowd ANYWAY and get about £20K back in the till. Cutting it to a tenner we would need 2000 extra punters for that kind of money...
  13. Quite simply that is the answer. It amazes me that Football clubs can't get their head around what kids study in Standard Grade Economics - Price Elasticity of Demand. Demand increasing enough with price cuts that profits rise- Football clubs have it EASIER than this rule as they are only looking for profits to stay the SAME and cash in later on the benefits of having a larger match day market. In terms of a Stadium move (the point of the thread) I have ALWAYS maintained that any move MUST be coupled with a reduction in prices (especially cheaper Season Tickets) as with the buzz of a move it will be the perfect chance to cast the net and get the lapsed fans back. Imagine the dire sight of a brand new stadium with sub 4000 crowds. Get the Season Tickets WAY down (perhaps the Bradford Scheme I keep banging on about) and match day price to £15 and as you say Al our new ground would become the away game of choice and we COULD sustain home crowds of 7000 odds. Hell even 6000 would be a huge improvement!
  14. WOW! Was NOT expecting all 3 points!! Europe pretty much tied up eh?
  15. Clean Sheet Fraser is quality!!
  16. Indeed but in a City of 450,000 in real terms it isn't that impressive - even in a two team city...
  17. Woop woop. This could all but tie up 5th. Still take a point though.....
  18. Yet another reason for a stadium move that will house a large 'sports bar' as part of the revenue streams As for this - are Motherwell FC ACTUALLY reducing their Limiting their possible Clientelle to 2500 when it could be double that?? Just because a few moaning faces ST holders were too late for their pint one week? Who calls these shots?
  19. Spot on. A new stadium MUST NOT be a McDiarmid/St Mirren/New Broomfield legoland pop up toy town clone! We need something unique, not only in design but atmosphere and revenue streams. Fully enclosed for a start and you start to move away from the flatpack four stand identikit. A bigger main stand like the one above alos sets it off and to keep the (empty) seats down plenty of executive boxes/restaurants/bars - a proper 'sports bar' /shops in the 'corners'. We MUST move soon. If we don't we are going to dwindle away to a once proud club playing in a rotting ground in front of 2500 people each week. If we twin a stadium move with cheap pricing and get everyone back + new punters on board we can save the club before it is too late. This is pre-emptive of course but there was only 3500 at the LAST weekend game in a TOP 6 game when we are going for EUROPE.
  20. I'm afraid the blinkers will be on for those running our clubs and the mindset of - 'well everyone charges £20 for SPL football' will continue to enforce the status quo. Many fans, myself included are indeed voting with our feet. Some simply can't afford it but some of those staying away, myself included 'have the money' but just can't justify spending it on 90 minutes of football and choses to spend it on other things these days. £20-£25 entry plus petrol and food can go along way when you spend it on other leisure activities, four hours of golf at most courses in Scotland for example or a day's Snowboarding up north or 2 hours at a cinema for TWO people or more. Not to mention spending money on family or saving for holidays This isn't the 50s - people work long hours around the clock for their leisure time and are starting to see the bigger picture. Next season there will be 1500 'Well fans at least willing to pay £12-£15 to go to Fir Park sitting on the end of a radio, tv set or mobile phone DYING to know the score. To have an empty seat at Fir Park with their name on it (quite literally in some cases!) and not let them come in is one of the biggest follies of our time - and will continue to be until ONE club leads the way. Why not us?
  21. Aye get the U19 goalie in next week if Ruddy isn't back or get Stewart Kerr registered with the SPL. I'm serious by the way!!
  22. I have said this on another thread but Coke is a complete imposter of a player. Stupid tippy tappy touches that go no-where, slow in the turn, half arsed tackles and awful shooting. I seriously hope his wages are used elsewhere.
  23. Aye but a win today would have practically tied up 5th (pos europe) let alone put us 4th (def europe). We were shite but particularly at fault for me: Fraser - Absolute fannypad of a Goalkeeper Coke - Imposter of a footballer - seriously shouldn't be wanting to sign this guy up! Brown - Why put a Right Winger at Right Back when you have a guy ON THE PARK who has played at RB for 4 months? Should have went 4-4-2 when Craggs went off. Has to take the blame. Oh and Murphy is WAY short of SPL standards and time is running out for the 'Still Young' patter from folk on here. He has nothing.
  24. Fraser can indeed get himself to fuck. The commentators kept giving him the pitch excuse - he fucked up twice on the ONLY DECENT part of the park!! And he kept kamikazing his OWN players out the game - gonnae stop doing that! Pish goalkeeper - really bad.
