There is actually. Paul Slane has been nurtured by Motherwell for 6/7 years. He has given us 3 games in return. If he doesn't see fit to sign a Contract extension and give us the MINIMUM 2 years of his time in the 1st team then he goes back into the U19s for another TWO years. Without first team exposure who is going to sign him? Promising 17 year olds are highly sought after. 19 year olds that haven't kicked a ball are generally looked over.

Why Paul Slane isn't on a five year contract is beyond me!! It was obvious last season that he was going to be a player ( McGhee..) and he needs to be tied up. Him and Forbes are going to have a blinding season if early signs are anything to go by and together with some good signings and rest of a good squad could really make headlines this year; beating Old Firm, Top 6, Cup Run etc... Or Slane could go into the reserves at Celtic along with the rest of the SPL's 'best' talent.

Heard that the ESPN America channell we get the now (which is class) is to be abolished and some of it's content (Monday Night Baseball, This week in Baseball etc..) incorporated into the new ESPN UK channel amidst the SPL/EPL games. If so, then that would be an awesome package for £12 a month. Live football from Scotland and England AND Live American sports. Plus, shows like 'This week in Baseball' are quality and really showed up the crap we got covering our sports like 'Inside the SPL' to be high school media project stuff. My only fear though is the American stuff will be timefillers and most might be 'As Live' or pushed aside for SPL Highlights etc.. The should really run two channells, ESPN America and ESPN UK but I spose it is much cheaper to go with just one.

Giles Coke is an Attack minded midfielder. It would be folly to imagine another coming in imo. Striker, Centre Half, Right Back, Goalie in first then we can add 'extras'.

If we 'Sign' 3 more players, i.e. OUR players and hopefully on longer contracts than Jennings and Coke (still can't get away wi his name!) then one needs to be a Striker and one a Centre Half. We need to start Asset building. Of 4 signings so far only one can be considered an asset to the club. We need to get in players attached to the club in these key positions. A 'signed up' Number 1 goalie wouldn't go amiss either. If we get the 4 loan players he is chatting about basically 1 in each position would be as good a way as any to do it. One defender (versatile - Man U boy perhaps) One other type of Striker - so if he signs a Target Man then get a mobile McCormack type on loan or vice-versa. And what else? Jeez we really are spoiled this year!! I have on the wish list: Striker - Signed long term. Centre Half - Signed Long term. Goalie - Signed Long term. Versatile Defender/Right Back - Loan. Forward - Loan. That would do me to be honest! If there is one kicking about I suppose a left winger would do on loan too!! There, that is six signings to come!! Fucking beauty!!

First of all it is just insurance mate - on Gannon's part too. Remember he has a clause in his contract giving him a % of any sell on fee from a player he brings in. If they get off to a great start I'm sure he will sign them up. Secondly, You have already suggested these players may not be good enough! So if they are rank - you want them to be signed up for the next 3 seasons once gannon gets his jotters?? So what are these players? Unearthed gems you want tied to the club on long contracts or shite from league 2 you don't want at the club at all? Think you better pick a side and stick to it, the devil's advocatte thing just aint working for me.

Ya beezer. Barring a few exceptions over the years we are a team of league 2 players!! People need to get over this. League 1 and 2 players earn what SPL players do, play in front of the same size of crowds in similar or better stadiums! You think McGarry could walk into the Leeds or Southampton team and play in front of 25K + each week. What about Fitzy? Hammell proved he couldn't and Clarkson, OUR best player and International up here is harbouring doubts if he can. ALOT of very good players down there, many don't make it to the Champ/Prem simply due to the sheer number of quality players down in such a big country.

Alot of the boys in the leagues down south are VERY good. Athletic, fast and 'coachable'. Many of them don't make it to the Champ/Prem as it is just too competitive. Perhaps. But don't forget that DC was having a tremendous season under McGhee. He was transformed with good players around him up front and scored one of the most majestic goals I have ever seen in the very game you suggest made him a fans favourite for tragic reasons only. Don't forget that. Ok, his relationship to Phil and what the club went through no doubt strengthened the bond between the fans and Davie - but to suggest there was nothing there to strengthen is folly of the highest order. He was OUR player for a start and scored 13 goals when he was 17!! How is that nothing?

Seconded. 'Challenge' for the top 6 will do me. Boyle said in the JG press day that that's where we should be aiming for. Fair doos. A cup run over AT LEAST two rounds in either cup is a stonewall priority after our famine with McGhee imo.
