Hmmm 'Coisty' anyone? We could do worse. I reckon he will bring a 'Butcher' style of management to the club and really bond with the squad. He is well liked and well known and could get us a few good signings. Clearly he would want to prove himself as a manager to eventually get the Rangers job but if he does well with us to do that it is fine with me (although clearly not others ). Like I said we could do worse.

You would rather get a total haddie, a run of the mill Jim Duffy who would keep us ticking over in 9th place, season after season than get a real coup of a Manager who is looking to get his career moving and will take us to third/europe/cup finals along the way? Don't get me wrong there is a way do go about doing this and McGhee got it wrong but if someone like Gary Mac came here with the view to doing well and getting a job down in England and who knows what in the future AND takes us to a new level in the process it would be folly to not accept that and revel in it.

I agree actually, he would be an astute apointment and could be another rabbit out the hat so Boyle might go for him - he will have loads of contacts down south and turned Stockport around - I remember them being a solid 'banker' on the coupons to get beat at one point and then not long later a solid 'banker' to win on the coupons so that is some feat. Like many I dived in and veoted for Luc without even noticing this guy, I still maintain though that with Luc we will get a freshness and something different, perhaps a few dutch players in. He could very work out to be a 'career-man' - it is so rare these days that it would be a fantastic thing. Additionally he must only be two or three years away from a testimonial (at 23 years old ) which could have an impact on him staying on.... I hope!! EDIT, Clarky just completed his 8th season as a 'Well player!!! Two to go for a testimonial!!!

I think it would be a gamble for Clarky to go down south. It is so competitive down there and fans are more fickle than ours. Clarky is a frustrating player, sometimes he looks like he aint ever seen a fitbaw and other times he looks like he should be starting for Scotland! We have been patient with him and it has paid off. A random club like Reading or something won't have fans that will sit through his first touch bouncing off his knee saying 'Hard lines Clarky - next time pal'. He should stay at the 'Well - for ever!

I think we will most likely see Hughes and Klimpl in Aberdeen shirts next season. I also think Clarky is a definate to sign a pre contract in January unless we get the finger out and give him a new deal soon Thing is though, losing those three, our three 'best players' in the eyes of many might not be that bad a thing. For a start Hughes flatters to decieve most of the time and with him away we will stop playing everything through him. Klimpl, although a fans favourite - he has his 'legend' moments but is he actually that good? Also with Clarky, I doubt we could get another 'international Striker' up front for us and on his day Clarky is a fast, clinical and most importantly commited striker, however we all know he can be frustrating and perhaps we would get a more consistent striker in in place of him. Don't get me wrong, I would hate to lose the 3 to Aberdeen, especially Clarky - not every club has a player with so much attachment to the club who has scored over 60 goals for them but it won;t be the end of the world.

Next summer but their Aberdeen pre contract agreement begins in January I cant BELIEVE we haven't gave Clarky a new contract - we will leave it too late again. Hope he likes butteries.

If you honestly think there is even a possibility we only sign two new players then you are remaining remarkably calm about it as we would be heading straight for the first division - we won't even pass Go. That would leave us with a 'squad' of 13 First Team players!! McLean is yet to sign, so it could only be 12!! Add in your 'two' signings and promote a few youth it could barely reach 20 AND that is using the best of the U19 team!! Madness mate, we need 6 to be comfortable, 7 or 8 to really be safe incase of injuries etc...

The old firm going their 'own way' would prob involve Live games being shown that only involve one Old Firm team or both plus they keep all the money from the TV deal to themselves.... oh wait a minute...... They can fuck off.

The SPL are giving the clubs the TV money owed to us all to 'tide us over' and they will get it from Setanta. An as Melvin says there will be bargains to be had as clubs release players and salary demands may have to be less from players in this climate. Given all this I would be extremely dissapointed if we didn't replace EVERY player going out with a NEW signing. It would also be folly for the majority of these to be 'loans' as we need to build on our assets but one or two loans would be fine. Still we should be looking to replace Smith, Krysiak, Klimpl, Malcolm, Hughes, Sheridan. That would only take us up to what was a paper thin squad last season!! 6 new players should be the LEAST we should expect.

I have heard they are almost impossible to deal with when trying to cancel. My Dad phoned them tried to cancel and they told him they couldn't do it! They said he had to put it in writing and when he asked the address they told him they don't give out the address!!! He told them to fuck off and cancelled his Direct Debit, I think they are still trying to get money out of them!!
