Agreed. This would be unacceptable as far as i'm concerned. I think we have made it clear we don't want another 'promotion' from inside the club as our team manager. If Leitch wanted to stay on as assistant then fine, if Craigan was to become Assistant/Player then fine but we need a new man in. Apart from inexperience a 'promotion' doesn't shake the squad up and everything remains a bit stale. The Malpas era was a perfect example of this. Also, given that we know some of the powers that be in the club read these very boards, appointing from within when it is clear our feelings on such an appointment would be a catastrophic act of folly.

Some of these names give me the total fear, like McCall, Pressley, Lennon etc.. Others are less than inspiring like Williamson, Leitch, Butcher. However, Big Luc Nilholt is ONLY A PHONE CALL AWAY!! We should give him a chance. Like others have said, some young Dutch talent (I mean footballers not cock sockets) in a team on a European tour and playing on the best surface in the SPL would do me!! Do it MFC!!!

Yeas, but that was before, funnily enough - football on TV!! If we don't get the money from a new deal in Scotland we will not only be strapped of cash and putting a poorer product on the park we will be competing with highly popular 'Grand Slam Sunday' superstars on the TV. The fact of the matter is Chelsea v Manchester Utd on the TV is far more attractive these days to alot of locals than Motherwell v Hibs, whether that game is a real game or on telly too!! Times have changed and I just don't buy the argument that fans will come rushing back because the SPL is not on their telly, something better always will be. As a result, what will happen to the 3000 odd die hards who crave their Satuday 3PM 'fix' of football? Yup, even HIGHER gate prices to balance some of the loss of TV revenue. Honestly, say hello to the beggining of the end if we don't get a TV deal. That is of course you call it a day in a couple of years time when Motherwell charge you £32 to watch Billy Mehmet captain Motherwell to a resounding 0-0 draw with St Johnstone in front of 1700 fans........

I think your point about squeezing a 10 month season into 'the summer' is fascitious to say the least mate. Obviously it would overlap and we would have plenty of football in October/November/Early Dec even. All we would be doing is putting the summer 'break' in at the winter, with a lengthy close season from Early Dec through to Early Feb. Given the pitch problems, chronic weather and low crowds competing with free world class premiership football in the pub at this time is it such a bad thing? There could be a summer 'shutdown' akin to the time off for the current 'winter shutdown' in many countries, halfway through season, perhaps around Early June and this would allow players - and fans a 'summer holiday' or to head off the European/World Cup if one is on. After that, the Season would be back up and running in Early July. I reckon gates would increase, especially during the 'summer' months with 'floating' fans going to games on a summers day/evening with little else to do. Your point about 'the English' not wanting to watch it as they are in the pub in a summers evening? - Exactly what we want!! OK, the highlight of their weekend might not be Motherwell v Rangers but they will still watch it in the pub!!, agian with little else to do. Setanta/Sky know this, it is why they screen Monday night crap - people have little else to do!!! Having said all that I really can't think of a reason NOT to go with summer football, in this format!!

That would be quality. I actually looked on enviously at the Hearts posters areoung Tynie. They seem to have their act together R.e. heritage despite being filled with Lithuanians!! We should try and emulate their efforts and the posters on the floodlights would be a cracking, and attractive addition to the stadium. In fact, how about one HUGE big fuck off poster of the league winning team, the size of the yella frame at the 'standless' part of the main stand!!
-
That my friend IS the answer. Like others have said though, FAR too sensible!! Was reading an article today that pointed out that, in terms of TV revenue Scotland is punching WAY above its weight and is top outside the 'Big 5'. Almost double the likes of supposedly 'equal or better leagues' like the Swedish Allveskan, Dutch Eredevisie etc.. We all hate to admit it but we really do need the Old Firm for TV revenue.

I am not worried by Celtic. If they want McGhee then great. I don't think McGhee will be after a single one of our players at Celtic. Whereas at Aberdeen he could and probabally WILL take Hughes/Smith/Klimpl with him. Once their contracts run out it is a logical step for Reynolds and Clarkson to take next season as well. That would give me the dry heaves, at Celtic he won't bother us. I am DEFINATELY concerned tho that McGhee will hardly be busting his ass to get players in in the next few weeks. His mind will be elsewhere and will he even WANT to sign players for Motherwell, perhaps strengtheing us with a few gems, knowing 'Well could be the opposition next year?

Thats like whinging like fuck at Adidas for putting three stripes down the sleves, claiming they are bastardising the strip!!! And for what it's worth there are plenty of wee details that look different to the other CCC Strips, wee bits of piping here and there for instance. it is OUR strip, albeit with CCC fashion influences but it's not like we have an Aberdeen/Accies/Stranraer off the shelf thing you can buy without the club badge for £11.99 in Sports Soccer!
-
So, in other words a completely unique strip Get a grip of yerself min!!!!

Awesome. Quite fancy the Malta ones. Package holiday wi Thomas Cook for half of Lanarkshire to the sun - and both big capacities too. I reckon Wales is the favoured choice tho, for cost etc.. and there is two chances of it. Although, small grounds by the looks of it, could be more 'scrambles! After that, in Order I would fancy NI x 2 Luxembourg x 2 Faroes x 2 Albania wouldn't be the worst either x 2 I suppose you could deal with Estonia aswell x 2 (except the team with 500 capacity ground ) That leaves half the draw though that is completely chronic!! Kazachstan, Macedonia, Montenegro, Azerbaijan and Armenia all third world holes all miles away and many, many £££ away - like a grand a flight away - forget it!!!! And two chances of getting each Still half the draw to hope for!!
-
Would take Dailly in a heartbeat, although if it's between him and Klimpl I'm no' sure. Doubt we could get both in.

Listening to The View just now I think a line from the duet with Paolo Nutini , Covers sums up big boab and McGhee's poorer season at at the well this year: "Your season is colliding with the evil massive things you provided..."
-
Not quite 25%, i'm sure some of the remaining 6 or 7 hundred will renew still, but I get your point. As an aside is Davie Clarkson not getting a holiday? He seems to have been captured by the club and used for photies all summer I can just imagine him locked up in Ale's boot room wearing a gimp mask untill released for a photie for the website...

, I know it's "Layman's" aint it - common mistake that one.

Cheers 'Flow, good enough for me

Good looking top that. Even getting rival fans over on P&B saying it is a belter However, something I ask EVERY season and no-one seems able to give me a simple straight answer is do the club get the majority of sales £ from Strips/Merchandise etc.. and give a cut to PSL OR do MFC get a franchise fee regardless if they sell one top or ten thousand tops- similar to the Catering deal. Just something I think about when buying one, as I'm getting a bit old for replica tops but like to help the club out. ANSWERS??

Really, I know a monkey named Brian from the Congo too, you know him? Also, I'm sure you could point me to the place that is inundated with 'Well transfer news seeing as it has been two weeks since the season ended?

Looks like we will have EVEN LESS spondoonies to spend in the near future.. Cheerio Craig Burley!!!!! Wonder if SKY will steam in and take on Scottish fitba' again. The return of 6.30 Sunday Night games?! Maybe BBC or ITV even could get involved, it isn't that bad a package, especially with the Old Firm games and most games against them aren't the 7-0 walks in the park they used to be when Sky showed them back in the day. If someone takes us on I wouldn't be that adverse to Setanta going down toilet avenue. The package is crap, viewing quality is laughable and I have it on Freeview which means I only get Set 1 and miss alot of football!! If Sky get Scottish Football as well as the Prem/Spanish and Golf Majors they have already it would be a no brainer to switch imo.

Any Fans Here With No Connection To Motherwell/lanarkshire ?
Juan Kerse replied to trafficlight's topic in Club Chat
Born in Paisley and lived in Glasgow's southside for seven years. Never lived in Motherwell in my life, in fact never been in the town except for the fitba'! We moved to Lanarkshire when I was seven but despite being about 7 miles from Motherwell AND them being the closest 'Premier' team to us I don't think I had heard of Motherwell!! I was into fitba' quite a bit and my Rangers fan dad took me to the odd game at Ibrox whenever he could wangle a ticket. Like most Rangers 'fans' I thought 2 games a season was enough and wasn't really bothered, half heartedly celebrating (at most) when leagues/cups were won. This continued for a few years into high school but I was never that into it. My mum, from a BIG catholic/Celtic family wouldn't allow Rangers tops (because of the 'Alcohol' Advertising on them ) so I never even had one of them (although I did have a Celtic top from somewhere ). Then in high school, when I was about 14/15 the school done this thing with Motherwell FC where you paid a pound and got a 'lenny' of one of the season tickets the school had. I quite fancied going to another stadium and seeing another team so I heard this and raced to get in line for the 'first come first served'. I was the only one to take it up (- all season!!!) along with my mate, who had just passed his driving test so we drove to Motherwell v Dundee Utd. The world and his maw were at that game and we had to sit up the back of the South stand in a crowd of about 12,000 (although I thought this was pretty normal behaviour ). Can't remember much but some punter called Nyssonen scored and the 'Well won 1-0!! It was enough for us to both head along for the next couple of games, with little else to do and it only cost a quid for a 'lenny' from the school. I remember the football being pretty shite and we weren't really that into it. As the next game was against Rangers I remember joking about a moral dilema if I would be happy if Rangers scored. As it turns out when John Spencer rattled in the winner for the 'Well it was the best thing to happen to me, it was amazing to be in the East Stand celebrating ACTUAL joy and I was hooked, totally hooked. Scarf bought the next week from the guy at the railings and been to just about every game for the last 11 years. I even got my kid sister involved who was only about 7 at the time and took her to games and then my 'Rangers' fan dad followed and started going to games. At first he didn't really care and just went for the crack but it started to grow to the point him and my sister were kicking about in Nancy with 'Well tops on - and I wasn't even there!!! It just shows you what can happen, I'll defy any 'Rangers' or 'Celtic' fan who goes to no games and knows nothing to go along and NOT catch the bug - I believe kids should get into games at fir park for a quid, every week, it just shows you how far that quid went against Dundee Utd 11 years ago!! -
Incidentally I read somewhere that it is UEFA criteria to have 3 strips if you play in European competition.( No, ThePettedLip this is not a windup put the monitor down, step away from the window..) Can anyone shed any light if this is just a recommendation or if we have to play ball with it or not?
-
Aye, of we think SPL prices are bad some of the lower league games are bordering on extortion!!! It is so simples as my friend Alexander the Meercat would say, SPL games a tenner, SFL games a fiver. £1 for kids in any ground. But naw, let's charge an adult and two weans £32 to watch Stirling Albion

Tell you what there is very little chance McGhee will be our Manager come pre-season. There are just too many vacancies which McGhee will either get or will get a knock-on vacancy as part of the domino effect when managers start to move around. Not bothered about Mcghee leaving to be honest but there is NO WAY he will sign one player for us while his future is in the balance. We could be facing a Euro start in a few weeks with no manager and a squad of about 12 experienced players.
