  1. There has been a lot of draws this season. Dundee haven't won in 7 (and are away to Hearts next) Hamilton have one win in 8. Kilmarnock have one win in 8. Inverness have two wins in 8. Partick have one win in 7 (and a game in hand away to Celtic) Inverness have two wins in 8. These are the teams we are competing against and right now there isn't much between any of them.
  2. This post is about 1,000 times more depressing that anything I saw last night. Some people need a serious wake up call. We are trying to run a top level professional football team in a global market on the back of 3,500 supporters. What do you expect? Silky football, squad bristling with talent, sweeping teams aside....etc. We got beat by a bigger better team last night. Man the fuck up.
  3. Went for Heneghan. Just do not see what others do in Clay. 8 matches, 0 goals, 0 assists, consistently wants 1 or 2 seconds after his first touch that you just don't get in this league, what does he do? We lost Pearson and we've replaced him with a guy that's nowhere near the level of player that Pearson is even towards the end of his career.
  4. With all due respect I think this line of thought is rubbish. We scored 5 against Hamilton (good goal chopped off), scored 2 against Partick (good goal chopped off) and scored 2 again tonight and had plenty chances (don't know if the chopped off goal was good or not). Our wide players are just not good enough, and that includes Johnson when he was here. Before we went with Moult, McDonald, Bowman, we'd scored 2 goals in open play from 4 matches and not won any of them. Do you remember the Dundee game? Anyone who thinks were are going to win games in midfield needs rattled on the forehead. Our biggest threat is our offensive threat and if we don't use it we'll be in trouble.
  5. He was good in the first half when we were more compact but when the game opened up he didn't have the legs to be effective.
  6. Better than against Partick but he's not going to win many headers against Soutar and Rossi. Bowman has to play up top.
  7. Cadden going off was a huge blow as we now have no pace or out ball. Otherwise I thought we defended well and had the best chances to score. Not sure what happened at the goal, looked like a big deflection but the guys at home (or in the Cooper) will have a better idea. Need to change it in the 2nd half, Ainsworth surely has to come on with the lack of options we have.
  8. Don't know if you've noticed but we don't have a midfield. Who are you going to put in there to counter Paterson and Nicholson? Chalmers is better on the ball than off it and can't defend for toffee. We are at our best when we take the game to the opposition. You can have us set up conventionally and have a Dundee level performance where we have no punch whatsoever or you can have us set up offensively and at least we'll score a goal or two. Hearts have some decent players but they aren't some terrifying juggernaut like you suggest.
  9. We should be playing to the strengths of our squad, not Hearts.
  10. 7 goals in two games suggests it does work, even if only 5 of them counted due to inept officiating. The biggest problem against Partick was application rather than personnel or team shape. Would be disappointed if we did change it and Bowman might just be the chap to play against Levein's hammer throwers. Hearts have lost or drawn 14 out of the last 20 away league matches so I'll be disappointed if we don't pick up a point at the very least.
  11. Surely has to be one from Tait, Cadden and Lasley with maybe McDonald getting a few 'he scored a goal' votes. Went for Lasley Surprised he was taken off because Clay was dire today. Must have been with an eye on the Friday match.
  12. Moult had a 10 out of 10 performance last week but it was more like 1 out of 10 this week. McFadden improved us but so did Moult by coming off.
  13. Steal of the century, Partick should have been 4 or 5 up when we equalized. Funnily enough we could got all three points for in the later stages but we were lucky Partick let us off with some slack finishing.
  14. Typical dismal Firhill performance so far. So sluggish all across the park and getting knocked off the ball so easily. Front three aren't at the races and if Moult wants to step up a level he's going to get a lot stronger. Partick have weak link keeper Scully in goals and we've not had a shot on goal.
  15. Dom Thomas has 102 minutes of football this season, the longest he's been on the pitch is 54 minutes. To put his game time into context Joe Chalmers has 589 minutes of league football so far this season. Dom Thomas has 785 minutes of league football over four seasons.
  16. We've failed to score in 5 out the last 6 matches at Firhill. Surely can at least score this time, Jags fans saying their defence has been pretty dodgy.
  17. When I was a kid I sat right behind the goals on the north terrace, next to the posts. There was plenty balls flying around there. We could watched the game from anywhere but we went there. Why? Because it was exhilarating to duck as the ball came flying at you. It was part of the excitement of the game. I don't think its a good idea for young children to be smacked in the face with a hard object but I also think the 'think of the children' argument is over played. Whether deliberate or not if you go to football there is a risk that you'll get hit with the ball. I really dislike this attitude where every element of risk is being stripped out the game. Its part of the appeal of going to football. The day football is a passionless, completely safe environment is the day nobody goes anymore.
  18. Well I was a goalkeeper and I've been hit in the face plenty times, including one notable time when a striker launched a thunderbolt past me, I turned expecting to retrieve the ball from the net just in time for it to hit the bar, come straight back out at a rate of knots, hit me square on the nose and put me flat on my back. So it clearly doesn't work, if that's your opinion.
  19. Moult gave that rarest of things, a 10 out of 10 performance. We'll all never forget yesterday.
  20. Atrocious record at Firhill and the last match there must rank as one of the worst football matches ever seen with human eyes but you know what, I'll still be there. Not only that but I think we can win! The madness of football.
  21. My opinion is that Dougie Imrie adds a lot of entertainment value to this fixture, he's welcome to blast the ball at me if he likes. Football is pantomime and because the game has been 'cleaned up' by twatty johnny come lately band wagon types that jumped on in the late 90's, there aren't enough 'baddies' in the game. No wonder no one turns up these days, they have made football as dull as it can be. Instead of decrying Imrie, I say an opposition player should do this every week. Gets the crowd going. Must be worth at least £3 worth of the admission. As for the paedo songs, you sing stuff like that you got to be able to take a bit back, instead of going off on one like a self righteous fanny.
  22. I said recently that the big weakness in our team was the wingers. Today Ainsworth was benched and Johnson gone and we were miles and miles better. Surprised to see criticism of McDonald and Bowman, McDonald was tremendous today, won lots of ball, interacted superbly with Cadden and played great balls between the centre half and the left back. Bowman did well too, linked well with Moult and won a lot of knock downs. And of course Moult had a ten out of ten performance. And Cadden, unlike Johnson, takes the ball to the byline. We just looked much, much more potent going forward.
  23. Excellent first half performance, utterly dominant....and yet Ali Crawford could easily have got a hat trick. Need to stay switched on 2nd half because Accies did come back into the game towards the end of the half.
  24. Hamilton are averaging about 1 goal conceded per game this season. We might score 4, because crazy things happen in football, but it would be highly out of the ordinary. In fact we have only scored more than once in 1 game and Accies have conceded more than once in two games so everything points to a 1-0 or 1-1 today.
  25. Wouldn't surprise me if we have some kind of deal with Lucas' agent and we are effectively getting him for no costs. Otherwise I don't see what he's doing there and why we keep going to him.
