  1. To be fair though Willie Collum has not had a match yet in the play offs!
  2. Except they have been playing Alloa, Cowdenbeath, Livingston, Dumbarton, Raith Rovers....
  3. The ironic thing is if our squad really didn't give a fuck we'd have probably been a lot better this season.
  4. Rangers have kept 5 clean sheets in their last 19 matches. You WILL be jumping out your seat a couple of times at the very least.
  5. We shouldn't go to Ibrox and sit back. We can't defend. But neither can Rangers. Vuckic is involved in about 90% of Rangers good play, eliminate him and we have a pretty good chance of getting at least a draw. Usually Erwin plays up front with McDonald playing in the hole. Think we just need take the McDonald role and reassign that role to man mark Vuckic. Perhaps Carswell could come in for that role. Keep the two wide players.
  6. The key will be getting a result away from home. If we can get it back to Fir Park we have a very good chance. Rangers are highly dependent of Vuckic. They aren't even a great team with him but without him they are a pretty poor outfit.
  7. Honestly, I doubt the crowd will effect the outcome of the match. We need to get a result away from home first, if that's Rangers, we will have to play in front of nearly 50,000 of them a few days before. I've seen Motherwell beat OF teams in front of full houses at Fir Park and get turned over pretty easy in front of relatively low crowds in recent seasons. If you could say with any certainty that the crowd had a real effect on the outcome of the result, I'd agree with you, but I don't think you can say that with any certainty and as a result we have to try and make as much money out of the tie as possible. Even if Rangers fans are given the normal allocation of the South Stand and part of the POD they shouldn't outnumbered the home support by much, if we manage to get our support out for what is a pretty crucial game.
  8. He's been in and out the Ross County team for the past couple of season. Nay. I'd rather have Jamie McDonald or Derek Gaston than Brown.
  9. I think we need to keep an eye on Mr. Hutchison. He came out with some blatant porkies in the Radio Clyde interview and it seems like some of his responses last night weren't very adequate or led to further questions. Telling fans not to buy a season ticket if they have a price gripe, not allowing Baraclough to take questions, expecting 2,000 WS patrons to pay in every month, picking up at least £1,000,000 debt repayment when he leaves. I'd be would be worried about all of those. I've always been a Saturday fan and not really got involved in the running of the club but I think more and more I feel like I have a duty to protect the club from the people in charge. If Motherwell FC has to find a different level of football with lower budgets I'm happy with that as long as we have a well run club. What I'm not happy about is being constantly emotionally extorted to put more and more money into a club that seems incapable of turning out even accounts, never mind modest profits. I think I speak for many fans by saying that despite not being rich by any matter of means, I put all I can into a club I love, but I cannot put in anymore. Maybe it's this constant grasping for money from a small fan base that has turned so many away. Hutchison says he is going to employ more marketing staff. I'll be interested to see how they are utilised.
  10. Same Sutton that only three players in the league have scored more goals than this season despite only starting 2/3rds of the season? If Sutton has proved anything this season it's that he can score goals in a piss poor team. I'll repeat, the only players in the league who have scored more goals than Sutton this season are two shortlisted PotY candidates (Stewart, Rooney) and a guy that just got called up to the Scotland squad (Griffiths).
  11. Slightly disappointed at the season ticket prices, I felt they could have made a token reduction to make the cheapest adult ticket sub £300 without the early bird discount, given the possibility of relegation, 1 less home match, the whole play off match price saga and the fact that season tickets jumped in price last season by effectively £50 with out much reward for the fans. However if we go down to the Championship we'll still need a Premiership level budget to have any chance of getting back out of it so I wasn't expecting a huge decrease. Will renew of course but it's slightly bizarre that fans will effectively be paying an increase for relegation while it stays the same if we keep a place at a higher level.
  12. The Erwin situation is about whether he is the right player at the moment with the situation the club is in, not about giving youth a chance. He's had 36 appearances this season, he got his chance, he's picked every week and right now should be considered as a first team player, not a youth kicking around on the sidelines looking for an avenue into the team.
  13. Sutton's positional sense and timing to make runs is far, far superior. And of course, so is his actual finishing.
  14. I think whoever we play it's going to be not far from 50/50. The one disadvantage I think we have, apart from missing McDonald if the appeal fails, is having the away league first. Our away form has been so poor and it doesn't look like changing any time soon which means we would most likely go into the 2nd leg with a deficit to claw back but although there has been a lot of negativity recently our home record is pretty good so I don't think that would necessarily mean we couldn't pull it back. Watched the Alloa game today and they came back from losing the first tie 3-1 to win 4-3 on aggregate. Anything can happen, it's football.
  15. If supporters can't be bothered why should players who will be bombed out or go back to their parent clubs? A lot of the apathy around the club has to be put down to our so called supporters who don't seem to have the backbone to watch a struggling team after 1 poor Malpas season in 10. Sub 4,000 attendances, sweetie wrapper atmospheres and guys shouting off about being done with the club or not they aren't going back on the internet but not a single supporter protest outside the main stand or even any real show of disapproval, certainly against McCall and hardly even any against Baraclough. They are every bit as tepid as this team. No passion, no desire, no determination, totally negative outlook, chucking it, no guts, no fight. All those apply to both a sizable chunk of our team and support. When the bad times come you've got to roll up the sleeves but a lot of our guys seem like they are just looking for an excuse to jump ship.
  16. I've said it over and over I don't really have a problem with Erwin. There is some potential there. What I do have a problem with is guys on here making out he is the second coming when he's nowhere near being at a level where he should be an automatic choice for a decent Premiership level team. I also have a problem with guys slating one of our greatest ever goalscorers on one performance against Partick while casting a blind eye to 4 poor performances in the meantime by Erwin. There's a double standard there. Finally I think the manager has made a terrible mistake going with an inexperienced forward who hasn't quite got the knack yet of scoring goals over an experienced striker who's done it season after season, especially at this stage of the season when survival is in the balance. Erwin was very poor against Accies the previous week, Sutton had something like 12 goals scored against Ross County in a Motherwell shirt, Sutton should have started that match against Ross County. All I'm saying is that we should be putting out our strongest team over trying to develop a young player that might well leave next season anyway. I just think it's unacceptable for a manager to have two players on the bench yesterday who have scored 50% of our goals, and not start them in a must win match with a relegation play off at stake.
  17. Long has made at least three times the mistakes in fewer matches. Also Twardzik has had MotM performances in him when Long doesn't. And finally Long takes about 15 minutes to distribute a ball from feet or hand and doesn't have a clue what to do.
  18. If wanting someone in the team with a proven goal scoring record when we are on terrible runs and staring relegation in the face is having a man crush then I guess I have one. We needed to win today and about 50% of the teams goals were sitting on the bench in the form of Ainsworth and Sutton. Both players have big flaws in their games but if you don't score you don't win. As for Sutton being poor against Partick, fine. But Erwin has been poor against Hamilton, Partick, most of the Kilmarnock match at Rugby Park, St. Mirren today and others. Yet Erwin seems to be beyond any kind of criticism on here, while Sutton only needs one poor performance to get binned even though he's up there with some of the greatest ever players to pull on a Motherwell shirt in terms of goalscoring - Willie Pettigrew, Ian St.John, Pat Quinn, Wilson Humphreys etc. And I've given Erwin plenty praise when he deserved it but he isn't good enough to be a stick on first choice striker. That's one of the reasons we are in a relegation play off and one of the major mistakes Baraclough has made. We had a chance to go with Sutton and McDonald up front in the run in and we didn't. That and the George Long debacle are huge mistakes in team selection that Baraclough has made. By the way, if we get a last minute penalty in the play off that we need to score to save ourselves how do you want to take it? Erwin or Sutton?
  19. It's hardly abuse to point out if we sell a striker that can't score it's a bit of a result. Also Erwin is one of the reasons the team is mediocre. He plays well about every 4th or 5th game. I'm happy to give him MotM awards when he does turn it on but the facts are that for about 75% of the season he's been run-of-the-mill to poor.
  20. Starting our two top scorers this season, maybe?
  21. If we get a development fee for a striker that's scored in 3 out of 36 appearances this season we should be doing cartwheels.
  22. In a novel twist, I'll actually be going along to watch and support the team, even though we are shite.
  23. I don't. If we lose the play offs we deserve to go down. We need to take our medicine.
  24. Sutton. Stepped up and took the pressure penalty. A few seconds but the most any Motherwell player did today to step up to the plate. Also the brief time we looked any good was immediately between Ainsworth and Sutton coming on and that comedy goal we gave away.
  25. Club are making a lot of noise about appealing McDonald's red card but from what I saw he raised to his elbow to the player. McManus 'tackle' was a disgrace. Lasley and Pearson got away with a few as well despite being booked. These are supposed to be our experienced leaders setting an example to the rest. Our discipline this season has been absolutely disgraceful. How many red cards is that now this season? Could end up in double figures at this rate. At the other end of the scale you have guys like Conor Grant who look scared to get a bruise.
