  1. Faddy - got a lot to prove between now and the end of the season - reduced terms? McManus - he's been decent but not brillant, would probably depend on his wages. Lasley & Hammell - musts. Las is getting on but surely has another year in him at least. Hutchison - irrelevant because I don't expect him to be here after the summer. Hollis - undecided, hasn't done much wrong for me though. Stewart - like most of you I've only seen him once, a decision for goalkeeping coach me thinks.
  2. Can't believe Vigurs has been dropped for Lawson. I've said it before but I'll say it again, he is the only midfielder we have with the little bit of quality going forward. He hasn't done it consistantly but look at the highlights from last week and he was involved in most of the good stuff. Looks like we are looking for a point.
  3. Let's just hope Joe Shaughnessy doesn't get sent off this time.
  4. Vigurs ball for Aniers second was tremendous. More or less put it on Henri's laces.
  5. Anier and Sutton have scored 71% of our goals this season. Rest of the squad 29%. Probably the best thing would be to try and keep Anier and Sutton, don't you think?
  6. Ainsworth played 45 minutes as a sub against Aberdeen and didn't play at all against Albion Rovers due to injury. I've not been any great fan of his so far myself but your reason for wanting rid of him doesn't tally with the facts.
  7. We seemed to be playing without a left midfielder today. Vigurs was mostly behind the striker today pinging balls into the wide positions for Ainsworth and Anier. For me that was one of the key differences. When Sutton picks up the ball in front of the back four we have no one making a run into the box. Today it seemed to be Vigurs picking up the ball meaning we had Sutton free with Ainsworth and Anier giving us some width. It's also a lot easier for someone facing goal to play balls out wide than it is for a lone striker, who is mostly going to play it backwards or flick it on.

    St Mirren

Agree, thought Sutton was brilliant today. My MotM as well but it was a difficult choice because the rest of the team wasn't far behind him. There have been times this season when it's been difficult to pick a MotM because everyone has been so poor so it makes a nice change to have the opposite problem.
  9. Anier has 7 goals in 11 starts. I don't think we can afford to let that number of goals leave if we can avoid it. Ainsworth played well today but overall I think he's been poor. He's got a few matches over the Christmas period to show some consistent form and prove today wasn't a fluke.
  10. Easily our most convincing home performance of the season. Everyone in the team would get pass marks from me and four or five did really well. To be fair St. Mirren were poor, offered nothing up front and were poor at the back but we could have scored double the number of goals we got and maybe even more. Anier and Ainsworth actually gave us some pace and width today although they were up against a couple of inexperienced full backs. We need to see more of that.
  11. People obviously forgetting the discomfort of standing for 90 minutes on a block of concrete or a heap of ash. If you are old enough to remember you'd probably be wishing for your old seat pretty quickly, if you are too young to remember you don't know what you are talking about. And the idea that terraces some how improve the atmosphere is a lot of rubbish. Sure, maybe at Borussia Dortmund or something when they have 20,000 fans on a terrace but not in a sparsely populated terrace with a small crowd dotted around the barriers. Pure idealized, nostalgia tinged rubbish. If you think things are bad now think back to standing on an open terrace at Tynecastle getting humped 5-0 with a few hundred fans getting soaked in the monsoon. You might as well campaign for toilets to be taken out and everyone pisses up a wall as used to be the case!
  12. You can always tell a shite argument when they compare something to the Nazis.
  13. St. Mirren are in decent form over the past couple of months and apparently are playing some good football. They have only lost twice in nine matches and have kept a few clean sheets recently since the introduction of Kello in goals, a good signing I think. Having Darren McGregor come back will have helped in that regard as well, I thought he was a decent player before his injury problems. Scoring is perhaps still their big issue, they haven't scored in their last 3 league matches but when they do score they tend to score more than one. They've won away to Hearts and Partick Thistle and lost away to Dundee Utd and Aberdeen so perhaps since we seem to be in the middle in terms of ability this one will end in a draw. We've failed to get two results in a row since September so maybe a draw wouldn't be that bad.
  14. I think Aberdeen, Dundee Utd and Inverness are all a fair bit better than us but that still leaves two slots in the Top Six to fight over. I'd imagine St. Johnstone will be up there to but I think we should still be looking to finish Top 6.
  15. On the face of it Ross County are struggling but they have won 3 out of 7 at home this season and two of those loses were to Celtic and Dundee Utd. From that you can say more often than not they win at home against mediocre teams. Would take a point out of this match, beat St. Mirren at home and go to Firhill were Partick are yet to win this season. The Aberdeen match I don't have much hope for at the moment.
  16. Not me, because I was always a fan but its hard to believe there was a time people saw it fit to complain about a left winger scoring 10+ goals a season.
  17. Fingers crossed I can add a 9th MotM award for Murphy below. Not holding my breath though.
  18. We've had or will have to pay for damage at two away ground this season. We will also be in trouble over smoke bombs and missiles thrown on to the pitch last week. It's pretty obvious to anyone bar the 'it's not us it's you' mob that there is a problem with 'Ultra' groups across Scottish football. I broadly support the Well Bois in creating atmosphere but causing damage, smoke bombs, flares, missiles on the pitch and violence is a step backwards to the bad old days. The clubs need to talk to the police and get them to do what they are paid a lot of money to do and that is to remove trouble makers. What happened last night was blatant criminal damage in the presence of large numbers of police. The police also stood and watched at New Douglas Park. They are not doing their job and taking a huge amount of money out of the game.
  19. Stuart McCall's biggest error was made months ago. His squad rebuild was a failure, we do not have the right types of players or even players to play in certain positions. I think the squad is so limited it would be very difficult for any new manager coming in with no scope for bring in new players in the transfer window. If anything it will be players leaving rather than coming in. Therefore I don't see much point of getting rid of McCall, especially if it was costing the club even more money. We won't improve until we bring in at least three or four decent players and that won't happen until the summer. I'm afraid the best we can hope for this season is a return to scraping wins as we did at the beginning because this squad just doesn't have the creativity or pace to do anything else. We've had a period of good times, now we are sub standard and we'll all have to just sup it up until season 2014/15. We have some 'easier' matches coming up so I think the support should forget about what has happened over the last two months or so and support the team and management over the next month or so. As poor as we've been there are points there to be won and getting on the teams back won't help. If a month from now we are no further forward then we'll really have problems and perhaps action will have to be taken but that's speculation on a future that's not happened yet.
  20. They should have scored about 15 seconds into the match!
  21. Let's hope it works this season as well.
  22. Pot, kettle? Our fans did much the same last week.
  23. Last six matches I've seen Celtic 0-5 (0 shots on target) Albion Rovers 0-1 (2 shots on target) Dundee Utd 0-4 (1 shot on target) Hibernian 1-0 (4 shots on target) Aberdeen 0-2 (2 shots on target) St. Johnstone 0-2 (1 shot on target) So 540 minutes of football, 10 shots on target. Or a shot on target over 54 minutes and a goal ever 540 minutes!!!
