Craigan. He might not be the best defender we've ever had but he always gives you 100%. Something not everyone out there last night could say. Crags was far and away the best performer last night.

I'd be amazed if Rangers didn't brush Killie aside without too many problems so I don't really think anything we will do will affect the title race. I've been a bit worry about the sort of end of season lethargy our team has fallen into and last night didn't do much to dispel those fears. We look so off the pace I find it hard to believe that we can just turn up at the Final and start playing an A game after a month of half paced, not concentrated or competitive football. Obviously if anyone has niggles or injury problems they should sit this one out but I'd play as strong a side as possible because this is the game where we really need to get back up to speed and I don't think it will be beneficial in the long run to give players an another rest. They have had enough rests over the last 4 matches. Get stuck into them, let them know they are in for a hard game in the final, put the fear of god into them and if Celtic lose the title and their heads are down a bit and they think 'oh no, we have to play them again at a neutral venue with 15,000 fans behind them' maybe we'll have a chance. I don't really care if we win or lose but I want to see the right physical and mental attitude from our players.

We need to get things back on track. All though we lost the last game of the league season before the last Scottish Cup final we went into that final on a great run of form with all the confidence that brought to the team. We don't want to go into this final on the back of a run of calamitous results. We should play our strongest team in the next two matches and tell players if they don't play in these games they won't be playing in the final. My worst fear is we switch off in the run up to the final and then can't switch back on. And I personal think it will be very difficult to go from 5 matches of constantly alternating line ups and a general lack of effort to suddenly then go to the top of your game, which we will need to be to win.

He's no Randy but I don't think Langfield is a bad goalkeeper, he's much better than say, Graeme Smith. Certainly got Aberdeen a few points at Fir Park down the years.
-
Or maybe it was all the Union Jacks in our end when we traveled to Celtic Park in those days...
-
Hughes falls into the same category as Gow. Loads of technique but just doesn't perform consistantly enough.
-
If the bonus was agreed then we should just pay up. Maybe put in a wee handwritten slip with the payslip... "The last performance bonus of your career, from your former employer. John."
-
The way I read that he put in £435k up £300k on the previous season, ie he put in 135k the season before. Dundee Utd have big debts so they probably are paying out more on interest and repayments than we are.

Well Michael Stewart left the club, that probably accounts for about 4 red cards a season!
-
Hearts only have 2 red cards this season, same as us. Think Accies are the Red Card Kings this season.
-
If Randolph goes, I'm pretty sure Tomas Cerny is out of contract at Accies. Would be a decent replacement.

I'm guessing the vast majority of season ticket holders got their tickets today considering it was a public holiday. I think there will be a steep decline in sales over the next the rest of the week with it picking up again on Saturday. It's looking like we will sell all or most of the tickets but I fancy there to be a few thousand left for the ballot at the end of the week although I can imagine some folks will be sweating over getting one.

Totally agree, though he played him self out of the Final on Saturday. We had three players in contention for right back but if Hateley plays in midfield, I'd rather stick Saunders in there than Ross. Of course it depends on Saunders not being injured and keeping his form up but Ross had a bit of a howler it has to be said. I'd also pick Hutchinson over Gunning any day of the week and Craigan has to start to. Agree with the 4-5-1 formation with us looking to Murphy and Humphrey to attack. Celtic's full backs are better attacking than defending so it's important we try and given them something to worry about and not let them come on to us and push us back. I'd have someone follow Kris Commons all afternoon. Celtic are pretty strong across the midfield, in fact three of my four midfield picks for team of the season would be Celtic midfielders but I do think they are dodgy in defence and if you can pressure them we can definitely one or two goals.

Went up to Fir Park at 10.30am. Came home at 3pm! Only the 4 and a half hours standing then. Still, I've got my ticket even if my back and knees are jiggered. The 'wee wummin at the windae' said there would be plenty tickets left for non season ticket holders to pick up. I reckoned there was about 600 people in the queue ahead of me, at say, 3 tickets on average per person equaling 1,800. Then there was probably about 300 people behind me equaling roughly another 1,000, plus late comers. Then there was the people that got their tickets before I got there and those that went to the shop. So I'd 'guesstimate' that we sold about 3,500 at Fir Park and assuming the shop wasn't as busy say 1,500 - 2,000 there for a total of about 5,000 - 5,500 which is funnily enough roughly our core support!

Jennings and Murphy were the best players, in the first half anyway. Went for Jamie Murphy.
-
We never really played our top game today but up till 2-0 we looked like we could get a result. After that all the pressure was off Rangers and you could see our heads go down. Best forgotten, move on.
-
Wasn't the last win at Fir Park the first one Rangers had got there since Walter Smith came back?
-
Good shot stopper but hopeless on crosses.
-
Good stuff. Most be getting old cause I was at most of those games!

Celtic have Hooper, Stokes and Samaras all under contract for the foreseeable future, plus Maloney and others. Can't see Celtic coming in for him. Rangers on the other hand.... I don't think he will go down south though. He's tried that a couple of times and its not worked out for him. He knows this league, has been relatively success here and I think he'll stick to the SPL. He'll either go to a bigger club in the SPL or stay at Fir Park.
-
We've already beaten Celtic at home, we need to do over Rangers as well in this season of seasons. It will also probably end Rangers title hopes and put to bed any end of season controversy which I'm sure everyone wants to avoid. Rangers at Fir Park was arguably our worst home performance of the season but I think we'll be up for this one with the Final coming up and we will want to prove a thing or two.

Not a fan of Runrig or Celtic music for that matter but I was in a pub up in Crieff recently and they had some live music on. Guy ended with this, everyone was totally jaked and it got pretty wild, everyone singing and dancing around. Great stuff. Again, everyone knows the words. PS - Crieff pub guys version was much better than that Runrig pish! PPS - Oops, meant to edit. Delete the top one!

Just finished up my last job so it will depend on getting something else between now and then.

You can't win. We take 4,000 regulars and we get called a wee diddy club. We take 20,000 and our support is 'glory hunters'. Personally I want as big a Motherwell support as we can possibly muster. I'm sure it must be a big boast to the players to look to our half of the stadium and see it filled with flags, scarfs, colours and singing. And although I go to virtually every home match, there are plenty people who just can't make it with any regularity. People who can't afford the prices of modern day football, people who work weekends, people who work shifts or only get to see their loved ones at weekends, people who live in other areas of Scotland, or England or abroad. Then there are people who maybe aren't so interested in football but want to support the town in a high profile match. There are lots of reasons why people will go to this game but not turn up normally. And one other thing. Are they really glory hunters? If you are really hunting glory doing so by supporting Motherwell in a Final against Celtic probably isn't the ideal way to do that. If you hunt glory you don't support Motherwell, you support one of the other two, one of which we are playing in the final. The only glory hunters at this match will be in the other end.

No, not thinking of that game. Weird, I thought Derek Adams scored in that match and Spencer got the winner. Looked it up, 1-0. Memory playing tricks!
