It was only 5-0 at half time! The famous Arbroath v Bon Accord match was 15-0 at half time.
-
3 shots on target in the whole game. And that was both teams not just us! Did you hear Eddie May on the radio? He said something like 'We dominated the second half but some times a team can be absolutely murder, like Motherwell were today, and score with their only shot on goal'.
-
Good player but would be a risky purchase with his injury record. I think that might keep him from ever making it to a higher level.
-
You do have to give the guy a chance, I'm mentioned it before but Chris Porter had a really slow start to his Motherwell career for example and he turned out a great buy. However I think Chris Humphrey's deliver from the corner won us the 2 points as much if not more than Jutkiewicz predatory skills. He couldn't really NOT score.

I wasn't at the Dundee United match but supposedly we ground out a win much like we did today with out really playing much football. If so, that's one good performance (against Rangers) in the last six matches. To be honest I think I'd rather watch us play better football and finish out side the Top Six than watch the drivel like we were served up today. I'm glad of the three points but a repeat of today over the rest of the season wouldn't exactly have us looking forward to the weekends.

Felt Craigan and Hammell were the best players. Humphrey did OK but he's a bit like O'Brien last season, tries hard, pacey but doesn't have much of a touch. Going for Craigan.

Good news first - we won. Bad news - we were fucking dire. The first 20 minutes were dire, looked like it was the first time most of them had played the game. Jutkiewicz, who was awful, scored a fluke goal that hit off him and went him and we 'perked up' by a tiny amount until half time. Second half I don't think we created a single decent chance in the second half while Falkirk headed over with an open goal gaping and might have had a goal when Ruddy caught the ball on, or maybe over the line. Falkirk fans seemed to think it was in. Literally no excitement today at all - side ways and backwards passing, no tackles, no quality crossing, no chances, rotten basically. Gannon's midfield experiment with two holding midfielders at home to Falkirk was pretty negative. I don't want to see another game like that again this season. Ruddy (6) - Not much to do except watch Falkirk players miss open goals. Moutaouakil (6) - Nothing came off for him today Craigan (7) - Solid and steady. Reynolds (6) - Did OK. Hammell (7) - One of the better players today, not that was saying much Hateley (6) - Patchy display Coke (6) - Wandered around and didn't do anything terrible Forbes (6) - Wasted playing in a deep position Humphreys (6) - One touch of class with the corner that led to the goal, tried hard but I still don't think he's got the ability to match to his pace. Murphy (6) - Good on the ball but floats about on the margins too often Jutkiewicz (5) - Got the goal but showed nothing else. Saunders (2) - Falkirk piled pressure down his side in the late stages O'Brien (2) - Unfortunately injured, looked a bad one, lets hope it isn't McHugh (1) - No impact that late in the game
-
Hateley doesn't make it.
-
Few full backs coming through as well, maybe not so strong in central defence though, I like Goodwillie (no jokes please) but we look a little flimsy up front. Can't believe Tam Scobbie is still an under U21!
-
If Fraser had conceded that goal there would have been a separate thread on it entitled 'Fraser - Get Him Pumped Oot NOW!'.
-
Since when did teenagers do what their dad tells them!
-
Damn it's windy. Maybe Ruddy can get a goal today!

Didn't Rio Ferdinand make a complete fuck up a couple of weeks back? He's lost his superstatus then! All players have bad games, you can't really judge players on a small selection of games. Hibs fans watching us last week will probably think Giles Coke is really shitty compared to Kevin McBride. The point is, we are going to cap this guy just to 'mark' him cos he's not really Scottish and could piss off and play for other nations if he should feel like it. We are giving him a game for Scotland exactly because he's not entirely committed to the cause and this prevents him playing for anyone else. It's also unfair on others who have worked hard over long seasons to get to their position in the game and neither is it picking the player on merit. If 6 months from now Fox has had an impressive season and is personally committed to Scotland, fine, give him a chance but picking him now isn't right.

Hammell - European wins 2, OF wins "dunno but a few" Fox - European wins 1, OF wins 0

You are right, a 1-0 or 2-1 or even 2-0 home win would "as much a sensible guess" but what I am taking from what you've said there is that you don't think guessing a draw is a ridiculous suggestion either because it's "as much" a sensible guess. Both are sensible, you can justify why you might think it might be a home win and someone else can justify why they might think it would be a draw. What is ridiculous is the idea that Billy Dodds has some kind of agenda against us and always backs the other team even if it would be preposterous to do so, that is obviously not the case, he's tipped us to lose twice, away to Dundee United and home to Rangers - I'm pretty sure most Motherwell fans would have done the same.

St Johnstone 1-1 Motherwell http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/s...rem/8212157.stm DODDSY GETS IT RIGHT! Aberdeen 2-2 Motherwell http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/s...rem/8248344.stm DODDSY GETS IT RIGHT! Oh and I doubt he predicted Inverness to win cos the league cup isn't part of the BBC Predictor and nothing is coming up in searches. Seriously, guys, if this was on a Celtic board we'd be laughing at the paranoia.
-
I didn't see the game last night but Fox obviously tore Rapid a new one as Celtic went goals a-plenty and extended their run to 1 win in 6 at European level.
-
How many games have we won? And how many have we drawn? How many games have Falkirk drawn? Oh look it's three in a row. Look dispassionately at the results and tell me a draw isn't a sensible guess for tomorrow's result. For the record I'm going 2-1 to us but then Billy Dodds isn't paying £20 to get in like I am.
-
But he's not tipped us to get beaten every week, that's just not true. His tip last week was Motherwell 2-2 Hibernian. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/s...rem/8284490.stm. With all due respect you are just mouthing off cos you don't like the guy. You are entitled to not like him but don't make up 'evidence' that's easily proved bullshit with the minimium of effort.
-
Or maybe he's not a biased Motherwell fan and looked at Motherwell's recent form against Falkirk "at The 'Ark" which isn't very good, saw Falkirk are undefeated for about a month in the league and then noted that we've not been very good in the last couple of games and haven't scored more than one goal in a league game (or even a goal in open play) since August and came to the conclusion that it might be a draw.
-
How many times have all the 'Fox is better' types actually seen Fox play? He's played 9 or 10 games for Celtic, facts is you don't really know how good is he or isn't. Anyway, Lee Wallace has generally been regarded to be the best left back in Scotland for a few years now and he has exactly zero caps; some guy comes up here, puts on green hoops and jumps to the front of the line after a dozen games with out actually proving anything yet. I've nothing against Scott Brown or Kevin Thomson playing for Scotland, they have proved themselves over years that they are good players but these queue jumpers really get my wick, especially when they aren't even Scottish.

Van Der Gaag played plenty for PSV. He was never a first choice but in the early ninties he was getting 10 - 20 matches a season and played along side some impressive personnel - Romario, Erwin Koeman, Wim Kieft, Hans Van Breukelen, Gerald Vanenburg, Gheorghe Popescu, a young Ronaldo - and a certain Artur Numan later of Rangers. He also played with Scott Booth at Utrecht and a young Pepe at Maritimo, now of Real Madrid. 1988/89....PSV 1989/90....NEC 1990/91....Sparta 22 (2) 1991/92....Sparta 33 (1) 1992/93....PSV 10+6 (3) 1993/94....PSV 18+1 (1) 1994/95....PSV 7+2 1995/96....Motherwell 12 (1) 1996/97....Motherwell 26 (6) 1997/98....FC Utrecht 25 (1) 1998/99....FC Utrecht 16 (2) 1999/00....FC Utrecht 30+2 (7) 2000/01....FC Utrecht 18+8 (2) 2001/02....CS Maritimo 27 (3) etc.

Falkirk have three clean sheets in a row, I think a lot of 'Well fans that think this is going to be an easy game are deluding themselves. I'm not a big fan of Olejnik in goals but otherwise Falkirk have a decent side in terms of personnel and it would be foolish to treat them lightly. This will be a tricky match but hopefully with a full weeks rest our players will have a bit more energy about them at the weekend than we've shown in the last couple of games. Will be interesting to see what Gannon does about the recent problems at the back and in giving John Sutton some support. Could we see Craigan come back in while Jutkiewicz drops out? As some else said we really need a good performance to keep the impetus up otherwise with some difficult games coming up we could fall back.
-
There was a 7 year old reading what I was writing or I would have been more forthright!
-
Jutkiewicz just doesn't fit into the formation and can't play the position he is being asked to play. Its as simple as that. When Slane comes back Jutkiewicz be back on the bench, unless Gannon loses the plot and thinks he knows better than the evidence on the park. It's Jutkiewicz or Sutton, not both and on this seasons form Sutton looks the better bet.
