  1. See Jason Krones has started the last couple of matches for Albion Rovers.
  2. First half performance was good. St. Mirren had 9 or 10 players behind the ball most of the time but we manage to keep possession, spray some passes around and create a few chances. Great finish from Scott and I thought we missed him when he went off early in the second half. Second half you could see echoes of the Ross County match. Started to look a bit nervous and weren't putting in the defensive work, either preventative or clearing our lines. Too slack and allowed St. Mirren to come back into the match and at a 1-0 the game was still up in the air. Was glad to see Maguire fitted right in. Like Scott I think he's got the potential to be an excellent player for us.
  3. As others have said St Mirren have been pretty stuffy this season. Only conceded more than 1 goal in 2 out of 7 league matches and one of them was late in injury time. Rangers, who put 5 past Aberdeen and 6 past Hibs only managed 1 against St Mirren. Might well be a tight and frustrating match today, maybe it's going to be down to one defensive mistake.
  4. I'd pretty much agree with everything up until your comments on Cole. I thought Cole showed today he links up far better than Long does. He had some really nice touches and lay offs around the 18 - 20 yard area. Having said that Long has a couple of goals without really looking like a player whereas Cole doesn't really look a goal threat. I'd rather play Cole right now, have some joined up play and hope he can contribute goals at some stage. The problem today was we were sloppy in midfield and there were too many over hit forward passes but I thought Cole showed a hint of something.
  5. I thought James Scott was our best attacking option.
  6. I'd agree about the sending off but Robinson says it was never a yellow and to be fair he was a lot closer to it.
  7. Strange game. Almost like a pre-season. Slow, players looked rusty, oh and sunshine. Lots of chances created by both teams but the goalkeepers had very little to do. Before we scored I felt like Ross County created more and better chances, really too many for a visiting side of Ross County's calibre. Well taken move and goal looked like it was going to give us the three points but then we missed a great chance to make it 2-0. Echoes of the Celtic match in that we couldn't hold a lead for very long and crumbled a bit under pressure. We've conceded 10 goals in the last 5 and a lot of them have been really cheap goals.
  8. Need to keep an eye on Ross Stewart today. Seen him a few times over the last year or so and he always impressed me.
  9. I want to formally apologize to everyone as I put Motherwell on my coupon this morning.
  10. Donnelly keeps his run going - 5 league matches, 5 bookings!
  11. Apparently we should have pumped them. Looks like the score flattered Hearts a bit. Anyway. Tee hee at Hearts and Levein. Fucking hate them.
  12. I've been supporting Motherwell for more than 9 games.
  13. WHY CAN'T WE HOLD A LEAD!!!!!
  14. Looking forward to seeing this one.
  15. Actually might have been worth going just to watch Levein squirm on the touchline to the chorus of booing.
  16. Didn't go today. High ticket price, I was in Edinburgh last weekend, the eye wateringly bad match at Tynecastle last season. Sounds like I made a good decision if the howitzer exchange they are talking about on the radio is anything to go by.
  17. I'm not a referee but surely if the foul starts outside the box it's not a penalty. I will agree though that the referee didn't get the decision right.
  18. Interesting that we've signed another player we'd tried to sign in previous windows. I'd still like to know who's picking our players because there have been a number of times when we've pursued the same players after a change of manager. I'm fine with the signing but I'm not sure where he fits into the team if we are playing 4-3-3.

    Vs Hibs

At £29 for a ticket they better win. Would be great to hear the booing as well at the end. Can't stand Levein. Scottish football goes up a notch when he's out the door.
  20. Back four were excellent today but I'd have to pick between Campbell and Scott. I'll go with Campbell.

    Vs Hibs

First thing I was going to say was that was by far the best back four we've played this season. Carroll at left back and Hartley in the middle in place of Dunne makes us far more defensively secure. I've been dismissive of Hartley, I felt his lack of mobility would be a problem but today his reading of the game was excellent enough that that never happened and of course he's always a threat up the other end - compare with Dunne who is 6'3 and never scored a goal for us. Also, contrast our defensive display against Hibs who were an absolute shambles at the back. Midfield I feel there's still a bit of work to do there when we are on the ball, we don't have the touch, or composure that we had with Turnbull and Gorrin last season, but everyone put in the effort and it was a big improvement on the last couple of matches. Thought Scott was excellent again playing in a wider position. The one down side was that 1-0 up we missed probably about 6 or 7 real chances. We've got to be a bit more ruthless when it comes to taking our opportunities because the game was open for most of the 90 minutes and really it shouldn't have been. Overall though the kind of response to the Hearts match that you'd have been looking for.

    Vs Hibs

This is an important match for me. A shite Hearts came here and won at a trot without even playing anything above average. Now a shite Hibs are coming to Fir Park and if we don't put them away our chances of improvement, at least with Turnbull out, look limited. Hibs best result and only win in their last 8 league matches was a late goal 1-0 win at home to St. Mirren. They struggled to look convincing in the League Cup groups - a draw against bottom of League 2 Stirling, were far from convincing against Alloa and Elgin and then lost 3 goals to Morton. No excuses. These are the games we absolutely have to start winning if there is going to be any kind of progress.
