  1. The introduction of Seedorf and Hylton completely transformed the game and turned us from huffer puffers to...actually quite an impressive football team. Throughout the game we had most of the possession unfortunately we didn't know what to do with it and didn't really carry much threat. In fact it was QoS who looked more likely to score with one hacked off the line and a good one handed saved by Gillespie from Doobie's shot among their efforts. QoS didn't really carry any threat second half but neither did we. Cole struggled to get into the game and Ilic barely contributed. Scott up front was isolated and no one was linking up or making runs from midfield. When Seedorf came on he almost immediately put the boosters on and flew past his man. It lifted the crowd and his team mates. Suddenly were were playing great football and looking threatening. Fair to say QoS looked out of gas in the closing stages but none the less, Hylton and Seedorf were great to watch and more importantly actually linking up with Scott. Wasn't much in the penalty but I did think it was one. Seedorf took his goal well and Hylton's was a screamer. Overall a mixed bag, as already said Seedorf and Hylton looked exciting and pacey but Carroll was skinned a couple of times, Dunne is still Dunne and I'm not convinced by Donnelly in the 'Gorrin' role. More of the last half hour would be nice.
  2. I was calling him out for being snarky towards me for no reason by using the benefit of hindsight without even take into consideration the context of my actual comment - ie, we should play a couple of younger fringe players. The fact that I forgot Queen of the South were in the play off final and Maguire wasn't available or that we were 3-0 up wasn't really central to the point I was making. I deliberately retorted in a similarly shitty and annoying manner, completely aware I was doing so, ie, as had been done to me. If you need anything else explained to you that's not literal or surface level let me know. But the truth is I actually don't mind Wee Yin as he doesn't seem to hold a grudge or belong to some clique of midgets who are all angry at me for discrediting them so many times. Long ball bad - correct. Robinson's midfield acquisitions shite - correct. Kipre's second contract - correct. Play technically superior youth players - correct. Won't win with McHugh - correct. I think that pretty much covers all my major arguments over the last year or so. It's that sort of intelligent prescience that enabled me to win the Pie & Bovril prediction league. **kisses** see you August.
  3. Never been to Annan, Dumfries or the new Dumbarton stadium so should get at least one new ground ticked off.
  4. I like him as a player but he's 21 now. Needs to step up soon.
  5. Would go for Gillespie today. Had an excellent season since he came into the team.
  6. I don't see it though as he's not featured. The thing about it though was the 1 match he did play, despite it being one of the worst team performances of the season, I thought he was our best player that day.
  7. Oh yeah, probably. The play offs are here, there and everywhere at the moment. Still think we could have given a couple of younger players a start and give them a taste of first team football, especially as quite a few players are off at the end of the season or haven't been in great form.
  8. Livingston were probably the better team when we went 2-0 up. Poor defensively again with Dunne again not covering himself in glory and Livingston actually had more chances than we had up to that point. Great wee 'off the training ground' style goal though. Livingston then went into holiday mode and it looked like we were going to give them a drubbing until HT came and we went into holiday mode. Bit gutted Turnbull didn't get his hat trick. Donnelly playing the Gorrin role and not sure it quite worked out. Few misplaced passes and didn't seem to really get on the ball very often, it was only one match though. Will be interesting to see the second Livvie goal on TV as it looked miles offside to me.
  9. I would have liked Maguire or Livingstone to get a start. Was it a good game on your laptop?
  10. Aldred has been our best defender in his time here but we've conceded 3 or more goals 9 times this league season and Aldred played in all but one of them. As I've said before the defence needs a complete re-work. This summer needs to be a rip it up and start again one. Gallagher is coming in, we need another starter centre back.
  11. I think that was just because he watched the match.
  12. Any so called Motherwell supporter who doesn't want Motherwell to win every game is a weirdo and needs to find a new hobby like doing jigsaws but not bothering if they complete them or racing pigeons but not bothering of the birds show up. The whole point of the game is to win! It's our team vs another team - that's all the meaning you need.
  13. As I see it we have... Gillespie Gallagher Turnbull Campbell That's who's good enough to go into next season as stick on first choice players. Perhaps there are other players in the squad that can join that group, maybe Tait goes back to right back, or Polworth comes in and does a job but that remains to be seen. Right now we have 4 proven players.
  14. Most of those players were on the way out anyway. And he hardly binned Lasley. I'm talking about the his own players, players that have 40, 50, 60 matches under his management. Robinson has been very loyal to a lot of them, overly loyal in some cases and the end of this season should be the end of the road for a lot of them. Quite a few of them should have been out of here 6 months ago, or a year ago. Robinson stuck by them for not much return. He can't afford to make that mistake again.
  15. Why's he not been playing these end of season matches then? Especially as Tait has been poor recently. I'd like to see him get a chance but I'd rather he got game time now than going into a new season not knowing if he can step up.
  16. Gillespie made three or four decent saves and therefore saved it from being even worse.
  17. It's not the finish that's important it's the general standard of play. If you accept that the standard of a league can go up or down from season to season then obviously finishing 8th doesn't denote the same standard of play from season to season. Finishing 8th in a strong league might be an excellent result for a Motherwell team. This would be the case for Motherwell in the second half of the eighties when almost all the teams above us were decent to very good and it was a big achievement to finish mid league. The standard of the league has been in decline for decades but even relatively to the general decline this season it was very poor. Teams like Aberdeen, Hibs and Hearts have had long spells of really poor form but still finished comfortably Top 6. Aberdeen won 1 home match out of 8 - guess who it was against? Hibs won 3 out of 17 matches mid season. And the current Hearts team are absolutely, risibly tripe and yet finished Top 6 despite currently being on a run of 2 wins in 13. None of these teams are any good. As for the bottom three, they have to rank as three of the worst teams in the history of the Premiership. Dundee's win today means they won't have the worst ever points tally but I believe from memory they are still currently joint second worst - and that's where 12 of our 48 points came from this season. So finishing 8th is completely relative to the other teams and the general standard of play. In my opinion finishing 8th when all but 1 or at a push 2, of the sides above you are pretty low quality teams is nothing to crow about and shouldn't just be accepted. The standard both as a team and relative to the league just wasn't good enough over the season. If we'd reached the heights of mediocrity this season we'd have finished higher up the league much like Hearts and St. Johnstone did.
  18. Robinson needs to learn how to use a sharp set of knives. Football's ruthless and Robinson needs to understand you can't do this job without getting blood on your hands. He's been loyal to a lot of players but their performances haven't matched their managers belief in them. I don't think the manager should be fired on todays, or the last few, performances. However unless Mr. Nice Guy purges the people that let him down again and again the outcome is inevitable - next December will be very much like this one.
  19. If 2 draws and a lucky if entertaining win against three of the worst teams to perform in top level football in Scottish football wasn't enough then that pathetic capitulation against the team in 7th shows we are a million miles away from Top 6 and closer to relegation that our points tally might show. Our defence was a complete shambles. Dunne showed todays he's just not good enough. An absolute nightmare of a performance and rightly hauled off. Gillespie was our man of the match but the whole of the back four needs reworked including Tait who's recent performances have been awful. The key to the revival was the midfield but without Gorrin and Hastie the midfield is back to its old useless self, not helped by playing Turnbull so deep it wasn't uncommon to see only the goalkeeper and Dunne behind him. Cadden was atrocious today, maybe the worst of a bad bunch, he offers nothing. He came leave any time he likes. So like the defence the midfield needs completely refashioned. Gorrin, Hastie, Ariyibi all gone and I think Turnbull will go too. That leaves us with Campbell. Up front you have to feel sorry for Scott who's been left completely isolated up front. I thought Robinson got the substitutions right today but he's got to start thinking about a formation that can accommodate a second striker. Robinson needs to build a new team and show guys he's been loyal to the door. This group of players have had two seasons and they've not been good enough. Next season has to be a new start, a new team. If it isn't Robinson is going to find himself in the firing line again.
  20. Why is it our creativity just bleeds away when Cadden and McHugh play? Our midfield is back to being absolute shite. Think we should have had a penalty, looked like a hand ball on the line to me. Unfortunately Dunne has given away a definite pen at the other end. We cannot depend on Turnbull every week but can we really look to the same old faces that have let us down so many times before to step up now? There are quite a few players out there that aren't good enough and the patina of respectability Turnbull has given us is just that - a patina.
  21. St. Johnstone have won 3 (Dundee, Dundee, St. Mirren) drawn 1 (Livingston) and lost 1 (Hibs) out the last 5 home matches. We've drawn 2 (Hamilton, Kilmarnock) and lost 3 (Aberdeen, Hibs, Celtic) out of the last 5 away matches. St. Johnstone have had easier matches but we've not won away against anyone outside the bottom 3 since last December......when we beat St. Johnstone.
  22. Gotta be better than watching Motherwell in the first half of the season, win, lose or draw.
  23. Two absolutely honking stone age hoofball teams. Seems like a good fit for them.
