But we concede virtually every match and you get points from individual match results, not end of season totals. So far this season there have been 16 matches were we would have gained a point or points by keeping a clean sheet. That's a massive number of points over a season. In fact it's 31 points. Probably enough that if we'd done that in half the instances we'd be in Europe next term. If we don't tighten up at the back it will absolutely mean Bottom 6 again next season and it's quite clearly the main priority to be worked on during the summer.

If, like me these days, you just go to home matches you'll have got 5 wins in 18 matches this season. That's not good enough. Or if you like 75 quid a win on your season ticket! More if you are in the posh stand! 🤣 And 2 of those wins were against a team that have been hopeless all season and must have one of the lowest points tallies in the modern era. If you take them away you get 3 wins from 16. Ain't great is it? We've scored goals but our defensive record is absolutely appalling. We've managed 3 clean sheets in the league all season. 1 at Fir Park and 2 away. I mean even Livingston managed more than 50% more clean sheets than us (7). That's got to be some kind of unwanted club record surely? 3 clean sheets in a season..... I supported the manager through the tough period because I want to look at things more long term than a period within a season but there is definitely a lot of scope for improvement. I'd keep Kettlewell at the helm but there are areas where we need to show considerable improvement next season.

The Slattery goal would be my pick. It's the type of goal a real top side like Manchester City or Real Madrid would score. Didn't Spittal score a peach of a free kick this season? Or was that last season?

Would fancy him to beat the league record but for the season he's gonna have to do pretty well. But who knows, maybe there is a last day of the season hat trick against St Johnstone in the future!

I stopped commenting on games I don't go to a while back, which is most away matches. Not saying everyone should do that but I just don't feel comfortable having an opinion on something I didn't actually see for myself.

Losing will always generate more comments than winning. It's just the nature of it. When we lose every supporter will have his own ideas as to why - line up, tactics, subs, in game events etc. That will produce discussion among the forum members. When we win most people will be happy to post their thoughts and then move on as winning doesn't tend to produce the same level of alternative or individual views. People will always disagree when we lose, very rarely will people disagree as to why we won. That's usually fairly obvious.

Went for Gent. He's good going forward and today was his type of match when he didn't need to worry about defending too much.

Just as well Nicholson scored a worldie as I was starting to fall asleep. I'd describe the first half as 'low key'. We played OK but I didn't see too many outstanding displays and let's be honest Livvie knew they were away and we didn't really have anything to play for. The game just had that uncompetitive feel about it a lot of the time with no real edge. One more home match and I'll take another 4-1 win but today just had that 'end-of-the-season' feel about it.

To be honest not too sure about some of the figures stated for players but that's how it works out. We all know wee Dougie used to add a few inches on to his height!

Was talking to some Celtic supporters this week about Theo Bair and said he must be the biggest player in the league. Well I wanted to know for sure....so I did the research. Top Ten Units in the Scottish Premier League (height x weight, goalkeepers excluded). 1. Theo Bair (Motherwell) 2. Ricki Lamie (Dundee) 3. Cameron Carter-Vickers (Celtic) 4. Michael Nottingham (Livingston) 5. Leo Balogun (Rangers) 6. Dante Polvara (Aberdeen) 7. James Scott (St Mirren) 8. Stephen O'Donnell (Motherwell) 9. Charles Dunne (St Mirren) 10. Dan Casey (Motherwell)

Kelly made a few good saves and looked reasonably secure on a blustery day.

The last three matches at Fir Park have been atrocious and that was the worst one by far. We probably deserved a draw but not by any great play, more each team was as bad as each other. The weather conditions didn't help but still..... Only good thing about it was dead silence from the Hibs end when we scored! When your team is pish, schadenfreude goes a long way! The second half was slightly better than the first, else it might creep into my Top 5 worst games ever.

There was a whopping 4 goals in 4 games in this fixture over the season and 50% of them were yesterday. Clearly two teams that cancel each other out.
-
Not a day for attackers or even midfielders getting a MotM award. McGinn did well as a stand in centre back so I went for him.

Started the game quite well but St Mirren got a hold of the match and their goal had been coming when they got it. Thought the midfield of Zdravkovski and Halliday was really poor. There was a spell when pretty much every player made a mistake as soon as they got possession. Our launched balls up to Bair were predictable and although Bair and Vale combined later to get a goal they were pretty poor for most of the match. Much like the Aberdeen game we didn't really look like scoring and it was a bit of a surprise that we did. The one positive was that St Mirren didn't cause us too many problems considering we had a back three with two full backs in it. Draw was probably the right result but it was a tough watch for long spells.

They'll also be getting a lot more prize money and an extra Old Firm match finishing Top 6. But let's face it, Spittal was never staying. We are lucky to get one good season out a player these days before they are snapped up. Hopefully we don't get any of that boo boy nonsense.

How many midfielders do Hearts need?
-
He'll be miles off it. Look how bad we were today with a week off. He's not played in 2 months. And you need to give kids a chance to learn and gain experience. Ferrie wasn't any worse than anyone else. Bair was straight through on goal today if he didn't have the first touch of a pregnant hippo.

And 1 clean sheet in 20 league matches and we couldn't score!
-
Yep, seen that movie a few times! Will sum up the match in one sentence "Just never looked like scoring" and that's against an Aberdeen team that's hardly kept a clean sheet this season. Hardly took a touch in the first 6 or 7 minutes of the match and that basically set the tone for the match. We need to start on the front foot. The only time I can remember us actually doing that was against Livingston when we had a good win. We weren't abysmal bad today but it was all a bit tepid and at home we should be setting the tempo, not sitting off teams. We've seen it so many times this season and you know what, if you do that you don't win.
-
Hopefully we can put a demoralised Aberdeen to the sword but I seem to remember a few times when Aberdeen were absolutely gash and then they come to Fir Park and pump us!
-
Aberdeen have 1 clean sheet in their last 20 league matches. So we better see a goal at least!
-
Fantastic result. Just wanted to point out that Lennon Miller has played in 6 out of our 7 wins despite being out for a long spell. Coincidence? Don't think so.
-
Aberdeen have literally spent millions of pounds and have 6 wins this season. We have the 5th best record in the league in terms of loses. In fact we've only lost once against anyone outside the Top 3 in the last 18 matches. But you keep dismissing draws that we've got away from home against teams like Celtic, Aberdeen and Hibs. as if these results don't count or are an actual negative. We have 11 defeats in 28 currently. The last time we finished 3rd we had 12 defeats in 30. In terms of defeats we have not been excessivily losing - we usually lose around 16-17 matches a season.
