One of those one's were pretty much everyone was good in the first half and then it dropped off second half. Spittal scored a great goal. Mugabi was excellent then made a mistake and looked a bit shaky after that. Miller did some good stuff but was also sloppy at times. Bair caused Celtic a lot of problems first half but was puffed out in the second half. Vale looked like he has tidy feet but perhaps his shooting let him down. Difficult to pick out one guy but I'm going to go for Adam Devine, made some good defensive blocks, got forward too and I just like the look of him over the last couple of matches.

Rangers and Celtic are much better than us. Hence we don't beat them much. It's why no one else has won the league since 1985 and the entire history of Scottish football has been dominated by them. However I do remember some like pumping Rangers in the playoff 6-1 or the semi final win with Moult's wonder goal or a bunch of draws in recent times at Fir Park, Celtic Park and Ibrox or the semi final win on the way to the '91 win or Tommy Coyne scoring a header in a gale in the Scottish Cup or a bunch of other times. Maybe you should remember some of the good times as well. And of all the posters here I don't think I'm one that can be accused of being a happy clapper. I just think Motherwell fans should be fair, have realistic views and maybe have the self awareness of recognising where we are in the game. Putting in a good effort against a team with x 25 our resources and losing out narrowly ain't the worst thing in the world.

Every Celtic player is better than our equivalent. To compete in the game we have to make up with that with sheer workrate - which we did. This however leaves you vulnerable in the latter stages of the game when stamina and mental fatigue become factors. That's what happened today, it's what's happened many times in the past. If it was mentality we wouldn't be holding out to 94th or 97th minute or indeed getting a late draw at Celtic Park earlier in the season. People just need to get a grip. Obviously it's gutting to lose like this but we don't need the finger pointing and vitriol. How about maybe, just maybe, giving the team a slap on the back for competing against a team who's wages bill for their subs today is more than our entire club budget.

I don't necessarily disagree with the tactical element of what you say but it also seems like a big slice of what-might-have-been. We were under almost constant siege for the second half, certainly the last half an hour, most of our players were done after the 70th minute. It's a big, big, downer to lose the match like we did but like I said giving Celtic basically 45 minutes to score a winner was a bigger issue because after that happened we were always going to get deeper, more tired, less concentrated and I'm not sure different personnel or set up would have made that much difference. Not the first time this has happened, we are probably all veterans of it, hence my belief that Celtic having the ball in our half for pretty much the whole half had more to do with it than individual players or set up. Also let's not forget that Maeda missed probably the sitter of the season before any of this happened.

I'd be happier with 3 or 4. Most weeks we are competing against teams with bigger budgets, in some cases much bigger budgets, but I think the general effort and application is OK. BTW, Aberdeen have 1 win in 9. Hibs have 1 win in 9. Livingston have 1 win in 19. Ross County have 1 win in 11. St. Johnstone have 1 win in 10. Know why? Cos there is so many draws in this league.
-
We've not lost to anyone outside the the Top 3 since early December. Too many draws but let's not make out like we are losing every week cos we aren't and the players are clearly trying.

Another sickener but the players gave everything.. The truth is we should have gone in at half time more than 1-0 up. 2-0 would have made it a lot more difficult for Celtic and would probably have been deserved. 2nd half we came out and sat too deep and Celtic scoring in 50 minutes was always going to make it hard for us. Players gave an enormous amount of effort but we tired and had no out ball for probably the last twenty minutes and there was a sort of inevitability when Celtic scored. A lot of mumbling about the substitutes but they had to be made, we were out on our feet. Hopefully we don't suffer a collapse of moral like we did last time this happened.

I think it's always worth remembering that Steelmen Online represents a fraction of the Motherwell support. There are, what, 150 regular posters? Is it even as many as that? Even if it was 400 or 500 it would still be a single digit percentage of the overall support.

He's not been playing for St Johnstone recently. Or on the bench. I assumed he is injured.

This obviously should have been communicated but lets not make out that it's some great scandal. At the end of the day manager contracts don't mean a whole lot, it's not even on par with a player contract when you are dealing with a potential asset or a squad position opening up.

Would rather watch us in the Championship (or lower) than give up the 51% stake. We are what we are and we need to cut our cloth accordingly. If that means we can't be a Premiership club every season, so be it. Having said that I suspect we have squandered massive amounts of money on ridiculous player turn over and managers and that needs to end. Also we can't afford to subsidy a women's team so they need to find their own level just like we do.
-
They are 3.3/3.4 Maybe you round up 0.4 but the rest of the world doesn't. In any case the point is you don't need an elite level striker to have that sort of conversion rate. And the deeper point is that players need to be judged on longer spells of form rather than 5 or 6 match purple patches.

If the players carried out Kettlewell's instructions then he should be sacked but somehow I don't think playing ineffective head tennis on the half way line for 5 minutes at a time was the game plan. Players need to take responsibility for being gutless, garbage and showing no quality whatsoever. -

Club's been stressing cup runs are important for the financial health of the club. Players looked like they couldn't care less. -

Only sliver of hope was Adam Devine Terrible in every area of the pitch. Players didn't even have a touch most of the time. No intensity either. No physical or mental toughness. Why we insisted on playing long balls against a team that won every physical contest I'm not sure. -

We have a 6 footer on the front post we'd be going in 0-0. -
Mikael Mandron and Marley Watkins have 1 in 3 records this season, to name but two. Biereth was better than 1 in 3. Actually so does Theo Bair over the season but I'd still urge caution on Bair after a 5 or 6 match spell and the fact that he missed so many chances midweek says to me he's still got a lot to learn in the art of the striker. Bair has made progress but let's not get ahead of ourself.

Shakey at the back, no control in the middle and blunt upfront. Only one team looking like winning this after 45 minutes. Not creating one chance is not really good enough. -
I don't think County were that bad on the ball last night, it's just off the ball they were stinking. They are basically playing with a new keeper, two out of three centre halves and two sitting midfielders and I think that lack of cohesion and familiarity was probably a big problem for them. Getting two early goals is going to sink most teams and certainly teams with County's away form, last away win was in September.
-
And yet it's basically the same team, both back line and midfield that we had last season with a pretty good defensive record. Just shows you how much things like a bit of bad luck, confidence and the ball bouncing a certain way can influence a season. We only conceded 5 in 7 before THAT Celtic match and the confidence of the team took a massive dive and that's when the flood gates opened.
-
Bair had a good game last night in terms of general play but....he's a striker that missed, what, 5-6 really good chances in the match? Going forward he's probably not going to get a third of those chances in a game. It's important for the team that his finishing improves because having a striker that can put the ball in the net makes all the difference in this league. You really need to be putting away at least 1 in 3. He's made big strides forward and it's not my intention to slate the guy, I'm glad he's looking more confident, but it's one of those one's where if a different player had missed those chances they'd probably be getting a harder time about it.
-
Good team performance but it can't be anyone other than Spittal.
-
How often do you come home from Fir Park disappointed you didn't win 15-0. 🤣 I think Bair could have got 6 just on his own. We seemed to cut through Ross County every time we went forward. At times we were profligate but we also had some very well taken goals , especially Spittal's efforts. That's him on 9 for the season with two excellent assists in the last two matches. Still not 100% convinced by us defensively but that's a rare clean sheet tonight and hopefully we can build on that.
-
I'm happier to win on a shit pitch than lose on a great pitch. I wasn't there on Saturday but it looked OK on the highlights. I mean it's not going to look the same in January than it is in August.
-
Missed my first home game in ages on Saturday so I'm actually really looking forward to this. Ross County losing at home to St Johnstone puts them under a bit more pressure with three away games coming up. They have only won away once all season way back in September. For me this is pretty much a must win if we want to put distance between us and the relegation places. We've only lost twice in 10 league matches but we need to start getting 3 points and with the upcoming fixtures this is probably our best chance.
