Not excusing him posing as Gunni Jonsson on Friday night but I don't think it's right to write Kerr off already. He was a stand out player in his first few games at right back. Problem is for youngsters, when you are first introduced to first team football, you are going to make mistakes and it's especially difficult at centre back, where said mistakes are far less forgiving.

Aside from the obvious referee problems. Motherwell Problems: 1. Not learning from our mistakes from last week, we conceded an early goal from far out due to standing off, and we repeat the exercise tonight 2. The first penalty was never a penalty, but Kerr's defending got us in a horrible situation we didn't need to be in. 3. Subbing Ojamaa, the guy has been far from superb this season, granted, but tonight he looked like the Ojamaa of old and was beginning to look dangerous, so we sub him and bring on Omar "can't be arsed" Daley. 4. Tom Hateley. I only audibly air my frustration at the fitba when I think a player is not applying themselves or trying as hard as they could. Tonight Hateley forayed forward, made a spineless attempt at winning the ball, then when he lost it, stood with his hands on his hips making no effort to come back, then gestured with the fans. No doubt he'll have some heartfelt message on twitter to come, it annoys me how he makes out earning four figures a week to play football is a hard life. I'd happily swap places. 5. Midfield. Law and Lasley aren't working as a pairing, but by that I am in no way suggesting that we try to play Hateley there. Give Carswell a run in the team, have him play the "Jennings" role, because it's clear we need someone to play that. Put Law back out to left midfield where he had his best games for us last season. 6. Lack of a leader. I love Lasley, has been a great servant and a great player for Motherwell and still is, top guy, top pro, but from what I can see he doesn't seem to have the same presence and aura that Craigan had. Maybe I've been a bit hasty in saying this, but it's an observation I've made. 7. Leaky defence, we haven't had much chance to play Hutchy and Ramsden together, as would be my choice, but we appeared to have tried various other combinations that haven't worked thus far. However, Kerr and Cummins are young boys and will only progress through experience and being allowed to make mistakes so it's a bit of a catch 22! Tried to write this with my rational head on as far as possible. Dire night.

Was an utterly boring game and a terrible advert for Scottish football. We were beaten by a wordly yes, but Grainger had too much time to execute his shot. Jay is spot on about McCall catering to his best eleven players as is Sieb about is seeming to want to stop Hearts rather than play ourselves, which is especially stupid considering I hate being negative on our players but after a bright ten minutes to start the game, Murphy disappeared and it seems any slight touch of a defender is enough to put him off, he really needs to bulk/toughen up, especially if he is playing out wide. As mentioned, Hateley is woeful in midfield, he's a terrific right back and I would have him on the teamsheet there every week, but he's atrocious in centre midfield and I don't know why McCall persists with him there. I wonder what has changed from last season when Carswell was chosen to fill in for the various suspensions of Jennings and Lasley with Hateley still at right back and other options for both positions. We miss Jennings badly, I reckon we could get by without him if someone was delegated to play the "Jennings" role, sitting in front of the defence, breaking up attacks etc, but no one that has played centre midfield yet has seemed to do that. Put Carswell in there and give him that role and see what he can do, can't do any harm. Law playing centre midfield is a loss, I'm not saying he's terrible in there or anything but his creative influence is far too restricted in there. Stick him out left where he was so good last season. Higdon as a lone striker doesn't work, Ojamaa as a lone striker I don't think would work (Pana away is the only time we've been able to judge that), so why not play both of them upfront together? We haven't really had a set front two all season and a run of games for them together would be my first option. From what I've seen of McHugh thus far, I don't think he is good enough to be a starter, but he hasn't had a good enough run of games for that to be too balanced an opinion.

With the selected eleven, I'd much sooner play Hateley at right back, Kerr at centre half and Ramsden in midfield.

Farcical ticket arrangements as ever. Leanne's attempt at an apology is utterly deplorable - is she suggesting at future matches we just don't acknowledge what stewards tell us? She is basically suggesting that if you are a customer of a business, you should be well versed in emergency procedures - don't think things quite work that way, if things went tits up when I was in Tesco, it's not my responsibility to know what to do. Was pleased to see whilst queueing (possible sp) for tickets for the Levante game, instead of the age old busy procedure of one employee there to serve one customer at a time, there were two, although they continued still to serve one person at a time between them.

Can hear the guy behind me tomorrow already saying "Where's yer player of the month" when he makes his first mistake. Absolutely delighted for the big man. Well deserved title and he has been a fantastic signing for us.

I believe someone who's on the ball reported that on Tuesday big man

Fraser Kerr is in the Scotland under 21 squad for the friendlies against USA and Canada.
-
Our need for a natural left sider makes me wonder if we were too hasty to let Lawless go, seen as he is doing so well at Partick, albeit a division down.
-
The bare minimum I expect from tomorrow is visibly more fight, urgency, desire and response. A result against Celtic I will always wait in hope rather than expectation. The changes I'd make to the team as a result of the other night's shambles would be: RB- Put Hateley back in there. As much is he is never a central midfielder, he is a very good right back, our best one in my opinion. Fraser Kerr came in and had a terrific few games, but he wasn't great against Aberdeen and on Wednesday looked nervy, wasn't great defensively and gave the ball away far too often. CB- Cummins has been a credit to himself for a 19 year old just coming into the team, but given the goals we've conceded in the past two games, I'd put Ramsden back in there for experience. RM- Humphrey was absolutely awful against Rangers, would definitely drop him to the bench. Definitely wouldn't bring in Daley though, the last time we played Celtic at Fir Park is officially the most uninterested I've ever seen a player (and I've seen Brian Kerr and Stephen Pearson) in my life. Would sooner play Murphy out wide. Daley's lethargy is something that definitely doesn't need to be added to Wednesday's performance. CM- Obviously there's a void where Hateley was, personally I'd start Carswell in there. If we bring Law inside he'll have to play large periods of the game in a position where his attacking attributes won't be used effectively. Would go unchanged up front. Thought Ojamaa worked hard and tried to make things happen to no avail on Saturday and Higgy picks himself. As for the rest of the team from Wednesday, Hammell in particular, they were poor but none merit getting dropped just yet. But hopefully 3-4 changes elsewhere will be enough to give them a shake.

Everything I saw of Page early on I liked, but the more games he's had the more convinced I am he won't cut it at Motherwell level. He look strong in the tackle and good in the air, but he can be very rash (very rare I can recall him starting and not getting a booking), can be caught out for pace and doesn't seem too comfortable with the ball at his feet. He seems a top pro though and I wish him all the very best at Accies. As for Bob McHugh, he obviously hasn't had a long enough run in the first team to be truly judged, but from what I have seen of him, he seems to be competent at many things, i.e. decent enough finisher, strong enough, relatively fast, but doesn't seem to have an attribute you would instantly identify him by, which most forwards who make the grade do. As I say though, it's far too early days to be writing him off.

Seen his name on the vidiprinter a couple of times already for Sheffield United this season.

What about Alan Pardew? I think Murphy, Randolph and Law will all be goners. Randolph is a top class goalkeeper and as McCall said it's amazing there have been no concrete bids yet. I reckon Law could cut it at Championship level easily and for Murphy, personally I think he's a good Motherwell player but I think this is his probably his level, but there will be plenty of teams willing to take a punt on him if it's for free or for a nominal fee of compensation. Then I'd say Hateley, Humphrey and Higdon are debatable. If Higdon continues his current form I'm sure there will be plenty of pursuers but part of me thinks we have an outside chance of keeping him. Humphrey's raw pace gets him far, but you wonder if visiting scouts would be put off by other flaws in his game. Hateley will probably be a goner too, but part of me thinks we have an outside chance of keeping him. Ramsden is one who is still up for debate. It's obviously too early to form an impression of him, but he was released by a League Two side last season, so there may not be a bigger clubs sniffing unless his form is tremendous. Then the rest - Saunders, McHugh, Daley and Page- I reckon it's whether we want to offer them new deals or not. If Daley is offered a new deal, there's definitely a bit of "jobs for the boys" going on.

We can see what we've missed out on at the weekend, Mark Kerr has signed for Dundee.
-
Don't think Roddie ever scored for us. I remember Coyne scored two and missed two pens if we are thinking about the same game,
-
"Celebrations will go on long into the night in this steel town of Motherwell" as used in the Banter Thiefs' song for the cup final last year.
-
Can put any talk of Sheridan to bed. He's now signed for Kilmarnock.
-
McCall has been given a budget for a player or two by the board, if he thought Mark Kerr could offer us something that Hetherington and Carswell couldn't, while commanding a higher wage, I'm sure he'd go for him. But I for one am happy that he is showing faith in our own youth players rather than signing someone for the sake of it. For example, I wasn't too chuffed when we signed Michael McGlinchey on loan, he offered us absolutely hee haw whilst our own youngster Bob McHugh who had been kicking his heels on the sidelines after featuring in the first half of campaing. If someone is going to come in and make a clear difference, by all means sign them, but in times of harsh finances it doesn't make sense signing someone who is much of a muchness.
-
Jane Lewis should be able to provide those tints! Sportscene is a terrible programme. If there are more talking points than can be fitted into three minutes, the talking points are left out.
-
Went for Higdon for obvious reasons. As others have said Randolph and Kerr were superb and although I don't normally like him in midfield, Hateley had as good a game as I've seen him have in there today.
-
The fact that anti Michael Higdon posts have appeared due to the events of the last day, speculation that we are signing Ryan Stevenson and speculation that we are selling Chris Humphrey, is absolutely ridiculous.
-
I'll wait till he's holding a top with his name on the back of it......................
-
If he can recreate the form he showed in Championship Manager 2001-02 I'd be happy to have him on board...........
-
As much as I think his second booking was a foul, I don't think it would have been a booking if he didn't already have one.
