  1. Not much to add to what has already been said. A 1-0 victory today would have been a great result regardless of circumstances. The manner in which St. Mirren got back into the game was annoying, although they did definitely deserve something from the game. From the ref deciding not to stop play until Francis-Angol was clear, to St. Mirren not giving us the ball back to the wrongly awarded throw in. The ref actually had a cheek to book Hutchinson for not going off quickly considering it took him a fair while to decided to stop play to let him get treatment. What a nob Euan Norris is. Considering our wafer thin squad and European excursions in between games, the fact that we are still unbeaten should mean that even the biggest doom and gloom merchants shouldn't be pressing the panic buttons just yet. Would consider the Inverness game next week to be more crucial to our season than the Levante game, so would definitely approve of McCall resting anyone carrying knocks or needing a rest.

    St Mirren

Higdon had a good game, but he gets pipped by Fraser Kerr in my opinion.
  3. Since Hateley has arrived he has been a playing substitute twice. Otherwise he has started every single other game.
  4. Six months in football transfer terms is pretty much just a figure of speech, the same way if someone asked you the time and it was 1638 you'd say "twenty to five". Perhaps you could say McCall could have told a white lie in order not to get the fans' hopes up, but if you listen to his press conference on MFCTV, he didn't actually say at any point he was hopeful of signing McFadden. If you look at the articles which have come as a result, they have used what McCall said with as much journalistic license as they could, the headlines pretty much sensationalised the content. You might say also with Faddy being used to earning 20k a week he should be able to afford six months of earning 2k a week, which I half agree with, but with a family if more money is on the table you can't blame him for taking it. Who knows what life after football holds for a player and when you look at the likes of Dean Windass and Colin Hendry (albeit those cases are self inflicted) it shows you that money from your career is not endless. That said, I would be sick to the stomach if he ended up at Aberdeen, Hibs or Dundee United but I consider that very unlikely.
  5. We tried to extend his loan when he went to Aberdeen, I believe he was quoted as saying shortly before this: "If I do return to Scotland, it will be to Motherwell"

    New Dugout

The seats do look good, granted but they look far too new and pristine for the unchanged dugout frame....
  7. Aye, it was just the other night I'm sure, he picked up the injury in a friendly.
  8. Next you'll be telling us he's not good enough for the starting eleven based on the fact his squad number is twelve.
  9. Humphrey returns to the squad, Daley reportedly out with the same injury. Can't possibly imagine how we'll cope without Daley's committed contribution.
  10. To be honest, if it wasn't closing to being done, I doubt the club would make such a statement. All it would achieve to do would be attract possible suitors and set the fans up for a fall. Bad business and PR. Hoping my theory gets proved correct! Also, whilst on topic, I noticed today Nicky Devlin has joined Dumbarton on loan.
  11. I think Law has done well in the centre the past few games, but as Fritz pointed out to me, he is having to do far too much with his back to goal. Would be open to Cummins in and Ramsden in midfield. Definitely a seat on the bench for Ojamaa and a seat in the stand hopefully for Daley. The St. Johnstone game was the first time for me that I visibly saw us miss Jennings. There were many times St. Johnstone broke forward and there was a massive, a gap which Jennings had the nous to fill just about every time a team counter attacked against us last season.
  12. Law is responsible for so much of our creativity and plays part in a large number of the goals we score. That would be highly difficult to compensate for unless we gave Faddy a six month deal.......
  13. Hetherington was impressive, Cummins played the second half without really breaking sweat and Moore was good in flashes. Other than that, no real stand outs in my opinion.
  14. There was speculation of Ipswich bidding a million for Gavin Gunning a while back. Having seen both him and Hutchy play various times, I'd have Hutchy in my team first every week. Dundee United seem to be able to herald their players at a greater value than ours despite similar ability. Just look at Goodwillie going for £2.8 million all in and the size of Blackpool's bid for Murphy (which I have heard various figures between 250-500k for). Goodwillie is by far a better player than Murphy, but he is not worth 5-10 times what he is.
  15. Both offers derisory, Hutchinson's in particular. Glad the club were in a position to reject them. Hutchinson I can see going before the month is out, Law is a stick on to see out his contract and leave, a la O'Brien I think.
  16. Not in on time for the BeeGees "You Should Be Dancing" mixed in with "Roxanne" by The Police then?
  17. I for one think Hateley is a tremendous full back. Don't fancy him in midfield much, but there aren't many SPL right backs I'd have before him.
  18. Thought today was a well fought point all things considered. The defence certainly dug in despite being evidently gubbed for most of the game. Hutchy was terrific but even his tiredness showed with a couple of slack balls that put us under pressure. I think Lasley being under the weather stopped him being his usual busy self and as much as Law has been terrific in the centre thus far and done superbly to create our goal today, it was the first time competitively I've thought we have missed him out wide and missed an anchorman in midfield. There were a good few times St. Johnstone broke and there was no one in "that" area. I really dislike slating Motherwell players, but it's hard not to with Daley, another wasteful performance today. For a guy who allegedly once beat Usain Bolt in a sprint, allegedly being the operative word, he never wants to run. There was one point today where he was put through and was either 3 on 2 or 3 on 3 with St. Johnstone defenders. Instead of using his alleged pace to get in behind or draw the defenders out he toe poked it over the top to Ojamaa and then resumed standing with his hands on his hips. Would honestly sooner throw a youngster in before letting him anywhere near the first team again. Surely McCall must have words with him about how much of a lazy barsteward he is. I would start McHugh against Killie next week. Last season when he scored what should have been the winner against Hibs (another one of the SFA's useless clowns Collum intervened there) and the winner against Hearts, he could have gathered momentum but the following week he was left on the bench all game and then got injured for six weeks and lost any potential gathered momentum. With the many games we have to play in August, he will definitely need to play a part, so let him continue that next week.

    St Johnstone

Went for Higdon, thought the big man put in a fine shift, only to be blighted by the ref giving a foul against him for anything. Thought Hutchy had a lot of tremendous moments in the game, but he was slack on one or two occasions.
  20. Think he's just been nursing a couple of different injuries over pre season. Considering we gave him a 2.5 year deal last year, I can't imagine him not figuring in plans!
  21. I'd be highly surprised if the line up tomorrow wasn't: ---------------------------------------Randolph---------------------------------------------- Hateley-----------------Hutchinson----------Ramsden------------------Hammell Daley--------------------Lasley----------------Law--------------------------Murphy ----------------------------Higdon--------------Ojamaa------------------------------------ I would however, avoid playing Daley at all costs, even if it means moving Law wide, who has been great in the centre. Daley is an empty jersey the majority of games.
  22. Not too sure about how I feel about us signing this Kerr lad. I think we are well covered at centre back, especially since Cummins' emergence and Ramsden's signing. Might have preferred us to sign a midfielder. Still, in McCall we trust.
  23. Here was me thinking I had spotted a fine lookalike too! Reiterate what's been said. Great trip, not so great place.
  24. Hard to choose. Went for Lasley who put in a real captain's performance. Hard not to vote for Hutchy or Law though!
  25. Aye, a loan signing that never featured once! Made a lot of sense that one.
