They seem to be mentioning him on Pie and Bovril, alongside both Brian McLean and Jim O'Brien though, can't see either of them going to Killie.
-
Does anybody have any background on him? Couldn't find him on Wikipedia. Whichever centre back we sign is likely to have to be the "experienced" one, so if Conference Premier is his highest level I would probably give him a miss unless he is something special.
-
If he comes back to the SPL it will be to go to Hibs. Going to have to take a wage cut of some description to play in the SPL and as we have seen with Clancy, Hibs can offer more than us.
-
Lasley is more of a guaranteed starter now than he has been at any other point of his Motherwell career.
-
Although he did say last year that it would have been resolved earlier, had he not changed agent during the process.
-
I don't think we will see any transfer movement in the forward area unless someone leaves. If the budget is being cut and we have Higdon, McHugh, Ojamaa, Murphy and Daley who can play centre forward- there are definitely other areas which will be prioritised with whatever remaining budget we have.
-
We would have to reach a deal for the year left on Daley's deal, maybe he knows he wouldn't get a better wage elsewhere and is happy to sit on the bench.
-
It's a definite purchase from me too. Only slight criticism is positioning of the badge, would have preferred it in the traditional position. Still, best away top in my time supporting the 'Well.
-
Actually, I think that is cancelled out by moving to the under 20s league. Players who would have been too old for 19s and onto first team contracts will still be on youth contracts due to the change. On Sportscene on the first day of last season, McCall said he had looked at Tansey and would have tried harder to sign him had Jennings not signed a new deal, could happen this year!
-
McCall said the budget cut would mean there would be a 4k a week reduction in the wage bill. We already know Craigan, Clancy and Forbes wages are freed, which I'd imagine at least average at a four figure weekly sum between the three of them. Add to that Smith, Pollock, Halsman, Lawless, McKinnon and Bradley's wages are also freed- all of whom would have been on at least a couple of hundred a week. I reckon we are well on the road to having made the cut.

Clancy going doesn't bother me one way or another. He was a good signing last season when we were in need of a defender, came in and did a decent job and although I realise every centre half makes the odd mistake, Clancy was very error prone and I'd say he is replaceable. Can't fault the guy too much for accepting better terms- he has three young kids (unless he borrowed someone else's for the lap of honour) and he has to look at that first and foremost. Champions League football however, is going to be a once in a career prospect for Clancy and he may regret giving it up to go to such a poor team. I would take Reynolds back, definitely.

Personally don't see Faddy signing for us. But you were ever so accurate when you predicted us to get beaten every week this season.

From Scott Burns from the Daily Express on Twitter. English boss confirms he has failed in a bid to sign one of#motherwell 's out of contract players. Story in Tuesday's Express#well #mfc Edit: He has just retweeted a clue: @ScottBurns75 #motherwell #well #mfc any hints Scott is he scouse and better than Steve Gerrard ?

Had a stab at a couple of pieces myself if anybody fancies a look: http://www.vavel.com/index.php?news=159421 http://www.vavel.com/en/uk-football/scottish-premier-league/motherwell-fc/158366-farewell-captain-crags.html

Other than those previously mentioned, I think Murphy's goal against Inverness on the opening day was superb. Great team move and one touch passing leading up to the goal.
-
You must have really reasoned opinions on players. Tom Bradley never played in the Morton friendly in July. Was it the way he was sitting in the stand that you didn't like? Opinion. Null. Void.
-
I'd agree with that. Especially with the under 19s becoming 20s there will be less need for players between the youth team and the first team.
-
He also scored a fine goals against Inverness in the League Cup and Hearts too. Missing the penalty in the 2-2 draw at New Douglas Park seemed to knock the stuffing right out of him, but I think the major start in his decline was Craig Brown playing him as a left midfielder. After the lad had a great first half to his first season in the first team, he was stuck out on in a position not suited to his attributes. He has never seemed to get over that rut, in fairness Lasley and Jennings have been superb since and you can't blame those in charge for him not being the first pick in central midfield, but I can't help but think we could have had a player on our hands had we utilised him correctly. That said though, I do think now is the time for him to move on. His career has stagnated here.
-
I might be wrong, but I think the under 20s coming in with aid us cutting our budget and affect those who have been mentioned. The under 20s mean there will be players able to step up from the youth team who are an extra year older. The likes of Halsman, Smith, Pollock etc being here hasn't really been of much benefit to us this season if they haven't even played a minute. That's ok when a player is 19 or 20. Not 21 or 22. McHugh I believe does have an extra year.
-
I reckon you'll be able to add Pollock, Halsman, Lawless, McKinnon and Bradley to that list. The only one the jury is out on is Page.
-
In some of the papers today that Ross Forbes and Gary Smith are leaving at the end of the season.

That must have been before the squash accident/getting caught with Porrini's wife (Delete as applicable) Can only echo what everyone above has said. Great servant and a very influential player. Has earned legend status in many ways, great captain and role model, solid defender, some rare but very important goals and of course opening the gate to score the throw in, fondly remember Jim Jeffries' post match interview that day!

Good idea, good cause etc but I'm not too chuffed about it. My mate won a game at Fir Park with 21 mates at the Phil O'Donnell night at the Civic Centre. Just after he won it the pitch wasn't at its best ever and he is yet to get it. The club should be honouring that before they profit from a similar situation.
