  1. Don't mean to sound cliched but you really could have picked anyone today. Page shaded it from Carswell in the end for me.
  2. Agree 100% Mark. Page and Carswell were the top two for me, but from one to eleven there were no failures. Cummins seemed to be sensible, didn't do anything to put us under unnecessary pressure, always back to Randolph or up the park if he was being closed down. Great goal from Hammell, inspirational return to the park for Jennings and Humphrey more than justified his recall.
  3. Stranraer last season. Didn't even think I was drunk in the pub, when I left to walk to the ground, ooooft!
  4. Agree with the sentiment, but he scored 12 last season too, but he does look on course to surpass it. Murphy is very much a purple patch player but he has definitely been valuable, we would be 12 points down if Murphy hadn't scored in 4 particular games.
  5. Noticed the under 19s line up earlier, no Murray or Cummins. I think the only way Page will be here next season is if the club see him as a cheaper option for cover than bringing someone in. At 22, his days of being called a youngster are past him.
  6. Wish I shared your optimism Martin, if we come out the game on Saturday undefeated, I will be satisfied.
  7. Don't think I can afford one of my own, skint student and that so this is ideal! Will send some dough over shortly.
  8. Yes, we had to defend a corner, but as McCall said, bottom line, they don't have a corner, they don't score from a corner. Bob McHugh's header must have been in the final minute of extra time?
  9. Just watched Youngy's interview on MFCTV, in which he confirms he was missing a centre back due to first team duty.
  10. I've just watched the tackle back (skipped past the rest of the highlights cause they were too painful). The commentators first instinct was yellow card, so it really can't have been that bad. I actually think it looked worse at the game, than it did in slow-mo. Really think it's ridiculous to suggest malice.
  11. Hearts couldn't play UEFA Cup or Champions League football at Tynecastle due to the pitch size, which has now been rectified. Nothing else. Otelul Galati played in the Champions League this season and their ground has a smaller capacity than Fir Park.
  12. Common with a player of his type in this situation. See Chris Sutton, Dion Dublin, Jon Daly and Dirk Lehmann for example.
  13. Some of the abuse Las is getting is so hypocritical. Coming from a club who have a hatred with Rangers, born from them putting Neil Simpson on a pedestal for ruining Ian Durrant's career......
  14. Essentially the S.F.A have put us out both cups this season. This decision yesterday and Bob McHugh's goal against Hibs!
  15. Nicky Devlin is a full back. Mind you so was Reynolds when he was drafted in at centre back. A back three of Hateley, Hammell and Page just wouldn't cut it against Fallon and Vernon for me.
  16. Can agree with parts of what both you and Melvin have said. We have been pretty reluctant to give any under 19s, Carswell aside game time in the past couple of years and times like this would be when they would be handy. But I agree with you in the fact that I would be ok with playing a rookie with Craigan, Clancy or Hutchinson, but not Page who could probably be defined as a rookie himself.
  17. Just tweeted Richard Gordon regards Lasley's suspension and his reply said "Straight red for violent conduct, will miss next SPL game". There goes my plan of Jennings at centre back, can't do without both him and Lasley. Unfortunately you never hear of an achilles injury disappearing quickly, so things don't look promising for Crags. I'd say this is the first time this season our thin squad has really been tested.
  18. Yeah I'm pretty sure it wasn't malicious, I had a perfect view of it and although I thought it was a red card I just thought it was mistimed. I don't think Lasley is the selfish type and he stood to gain nothing by getting sent off, so I don't think there is any chance it was deliberate. Especially with him trying his hand at the Sportscene thing now, I think that sort of thing would be last on his agenda.
  19. Fritz is your best man to tell you if the under 19s centre halfs could make the step up, as I think he's seen quite a lot of the 19s this season.
  20. I'm sure we'll get clarification on Lasley in the coming days. The under 19s centre half is Euan Murray, who has been getting plaudits for his performances of late, but whether he can make the step up is a different matter. If Craigan is out and Lasley is available, I would have no qualms about playing Jennings at centre back. Not the quickest, but he is a good reader of the game and I think he would get by. I do think it would be detrimental to midfield to be missing both Lasley and Jennings though, so would think twice about Jennings stepping back if Lasley is out. Other than that we are pretty stuck for options, putting a rookie centre half beside an experienced one wouldn't be so much of a problem, but putting one beside Page who has, if I remember correctly, only started two SPL games, both at left back, may leave us exposed. I suppose other options are putting Higdon there like Dundee United do occasionally with Daly, or putting Hateley there like Jim Gannon did in the second half at New Douglas Park. I hope it's not the latter.
  21. It's just a matter of opinion. His opinion was he would tear the SPL up, yours is he is past it. Neither are a matter of fact. Since his injury he hasn't played a run of games, therefore there is no way to determine which of your two opinions are correct. In the past three years, since March 2009, he was coming to the end of a season where he played 30 games, the next year he played 41, then 5 before he was injured last season. I hardly think that equates to hardly played. The guy is 28, he's not 34. Although Everton don't have the players they used to, Moyes still wanted to sign him at a club that had the likes of Saha, Cahill etc. I don't think he will be at Motherwell next season, but I would definitely welcome him back.
  22. Hands up those who didn't book any just in case!
  23. McCall should definitely being in contention. It's manager of the year, not manager from November to May. People are waxing lyrical about Lennon being a great manger and overturning a fifteen point gap. The fact that a fifteen point gap existed shows he's not been the best manager all year round. When it was fifteen points in October, three points separated us and Celtic. Now, three points separate us and Rangers. While the other two have had their patches of faltering, we have remained in more or less the same position, but for a week or two in January, all season round. This season, Lennon will win Manager of the Year, in the same season "sacked in the morning" was sung about him. That alone suggest he's not the best manager.
  24. As much as he seems to be a purple patch player, I wouldn't accept less than £500,000 for him. He has the raw attributes to be a fantastic player, he just needs to display them on a more consistent basis. He has hit double figures in goals for three years running, which isn't bad for being 22. He has only played a handful, if that games upfront this season. 12 goals by February is a very good return for a winger. Also, I don't know what is the catalyst for this, but he seems to have played far better since moving to the right of midfield. What he goes for isn't neccesarily his worth, today's market is inflated and we need to make sure we don't get shafted.
  25. Think I might have had the pleasure of sitting next to that guy at Tannadice, judging by the description.
