  1. Made all the better by doing so with a dodgy shoulder....
  2. Great game for a neutral, not for a Motherwell/Hibs fans' life expectancy. How does a booking on Saturday rule Lasley out, does he not have a clean slate now he's been given a two match ban? Clancy did have a mare last night, but most of his mistakes are born from things Craigan wouldn't dare try. You have to ask yourself which you would rather have. Take Hibs' first goal last night for example, Craigan would have put that ball into the Phil O'Donnell stand. I know Clancy messed up last night, but on another day that header could reach Randolph and he could have found someone quickly and we'd be on the ascendency whereas had it been Craigan, Hibs would still have a shy in a relatively dangerous area. Higdon was superb it must be said, not just in terms of goals. His link up play was superb, killed so many balls on his chest and picked out passes, won flicks on and there were people there. That's the rewards you get when you play him as a target man in a 4-4-2, the formation he's suited too. Was delighted to see him get his name sung- just gutted the guy behind me who gives him dogs abuse wasn't there to be silenced.
  3. Various arguments for a straight swap. Bringing Craigan in and rejigging the defence would disrupt us too much. Hutchinson and Clancy seem to have played well together and it would be wrong to break that up at this stage. I also think Clancy wouldn't give us the attacking edge that Hateley can at right back. I also Hateley is twice the player at right back than he is in midfield and I'd rather not have the combination of missing him at right back and having him in midfield. I also don't think Carswell will struggle, he played very well against Hearts in his debut at Tynecastle last season and that was alongside Forbes and Hateley, playing beside Jennings could only make things better.
  4. Lasley said himself on twitter he misses Hibs and Dunfermline.
  5. Have to disagree with this, although I do think they complement each other very well. Lasley has been in great form since day one this season and while Jennings is at the top of his game now, it took him until October to find it.
  6. As much as it wouldn't be my choice, I'm almost certain McCall will shift Clancy to right back, Hateley to midfield and recall Craigan. I'd prefer we brought in Daley/Humphrey or Carswell.

    Vs Hearts

McCall said an unnamed player had phoned in sick for training yesterday and would need to be monitored on MFCTV.

Have to agree Keith. Would obviously be delighted to be proved wrong.

Absolutely massive game now, more so than before. The incentive to finish third and not fourth has rocketed in the past twenty four hours. Wouldn't be surprised if some meaty challenges go in during the game.

    Ojamaa

With Gow it was a reference to the rest of the team holding him back, allegedly. With Ojamaa it's about him helping the rest of the team push on.
  11. A trip to a ground I've not been to before. So that means Ayr, Queen of the South or Ross County.
  12. I don't think McCoist will get/deserves the sack. Fair enough he blew a fifteen point lead, but even being close to Sellick given the difference in resources is still credible.

Nah it wasn't. Jim Spence's article initially said our last game in Europe was Nancy, before various comments highlighting his negligence prompted him to change it. As with the "Lawleff" thing, even if it is the Press Association who got it wrong, you think the BBC would have a look at the teamsheets whilst at Fir Park and maybe make some adjustments to be correct. The BBC managed to forge a successful Motherwell career for Steven Maguire, despite him never making a first team appearance. Basic incompetencies shouldn't happen in a service which license payers money funds. Don't imagine if the Press Association accidentally called Gary Hooper, "Hopper" it would stand for long before being rectified, for example. So in short, I'm not being a tad harsh. We should expect a better service from a company so reputable.

Last round they got Humphrey and Daley mixed up. When in recent times you add that to Jim Spence being ignorant of two European campaigns in an article and that young winger we have called Lawleff, you'd think the beeb really need to be more competent in their coverage of us. With regards tonight's highlights, fair enough we weren't a main game and the six goals probably restricted what they could show, but any football highlights program shouldn't miss someone going on a good run and hitting the woodwork, someone missing an open goal and the most stonewall passback shout turned down I think I've ever seen.
  15. I'm a big Craigan fan, but I think it might be worth sticking with Clancy and Hutchinson for a bit. We have to think about life after Craigan at some point, he is 35 and won't be playing forever.
  16. Precisely, perhaps I was too young to fully know the ins and outs of this, but if they didn't see the error of their ways after wanting Tommy McLean out after he lead us to a Scottish Cup victory and before he lead us so close to the league in 1994, they never will.
  17. By that admission, he could sign for us. He was only at Brentford for a month (less than 93 days), so would we not then become the second club? Or am I picking something up wrong?

    Ojamaa

Usually when you see a player who is tricky, they seem to have attitude or work rate issues, so I think we have won a watch with a player who is very skilful but also applies himself. An extension makes perfect sense, even if it means a slight break to the budget I'm sure it will turn out to be beneficial.

Obviously big kudos to Henrik, but I thought our midfield pairing were the best two on the park. Jennings shades it.
  20. I had a major go at an old codger, who ironically was the spit of Victor Meldrew, over his abuse of Higdon tonight. A couple of others joined in after I got the ball rolling and we never heard a peep out him thereafter. Celebrated in his face when Nicky Law scored. You'd think tonight, a great team performance and Higdon in particular doing a superb job I wouldn't need to post this, but it shows that some of our support are braindead completely when it comes to football.
  21. I'd prefer it if we left the conspiracies to the Sellick fans. Humphrey has been dropped due to poor form. He must have a very good agent if teams are going to bid for him on this season's form. Your views of Humphrey remind me of a guy on the old steelmen.cjb.net site, who defended Stevie Woods through all his frailties. When Woods left he revealed he was his nephew!
  22. For all the good Motherwell fans there are, we are followed by a percentage of total fuckwits. Anyone in the top tier yesterday will probably know the guy who I am talking about when I say this, he almost paid no attention to the game, just went out to slate Higdon for 90 mins, I actually thought he was going to have a heart attack he was going so red in the face with this constant abuse. When he scored, he started screaming "Wan ooty four, that's no good enough". I turned round and game him a look to which he said "If you want to say something, I'll knock yer fuckin heid off". On another day, I may have said something but I just laughed on this occasion. Folk like him are welcome to fuck right off from all future Motherwell games, I don't care if it results in a slight drop in attendance. He wasn't in Dundee to support Motherwell, he was in Dundee to berate Higdon. As with the game itself, was a slack goal to lose but we did have some bright passages in play. I don't think it was coincidental that we played our best in weeks in the last half hour, when Law was back out left and Ojamaa was playing close to Higdon. No brainer in how to line up on Tuesday for me.
  23. I have just moved into the East Stand this season, after being in the Cooper since 1996/97 and although I'd read on here about some of the abuse spouted from the East Stand to the players, I didn't realise it was quite as bad. There is one particular person a few rows behind me who does my thrupenny bits in. I reckon he comes to the game solely to abuse our own players. As you can imagine, Higdon gets the brunt of it. Hateley, Clancy, Humphrey, Daley and Murphy also get an earful. I have had a verbal go at him a couple of times. In the Aberdeen game, the one where the abuse of Higdon was much publicised, this guy berated Murphy every touch until he was substituted, only to shout "Unlucky Jamie son, you're always the scapegoat" when McHugh replaced him which baffled me. His abuse of Higdon is also very much unwarranted. He seems to shout "Jump" at him so much, ironic shouts of "Jump" every time Higdon has the ball at his feet can be heard around this guy. We all have our frustrations at our own players, but I really don't see how anyone can see the level of abuse being dished out as beneficial in every way. Just goes to show how many ill informed fans we have who know the square root of fuck all about football.
  24. We have. Hutchinson was totally outpaced for Rangers third at Fir Park. Wish him all the best myself. When you think how he reacted when we turned down a bid from Rangers for him, compared to the way McDonald did, that has to be worth something. Also, as mentioned above he always went on record saying if he moved on he wanted the club to get money for him. When the likes of McCormack, Sutton and even Lasley and Hammell had no qualms about leaving for free. In my time watching Motherwell, Reynolds has definitely been one of the better centre backs. He had his flaws like anyone else but all round he was a good player for us. Especially when you think of some of the centre backs we've suffered like Daniel Sengewald, Karl Ready. Gunni Jonsonn and Bobby Donnelly. He'll do a turn for Aberdeen, unfortunately.
  25. I saw Kenny Shiels saying Dean had taken a "big financial hit" and "basically ripped up his contract" to sign for Kilmarnock so I just assumed it was permanent!
