Agree 100%, very much a shade of grey for me too. Watched it from various camera angles and still can't decide, so asking the ref to do so in a split second is obviously a tall order. Maybe I would be a bit more animated about it had we drawn or lost but it's immaterial. On a side note, have to say I think Hateley has been our best player this season. He is a far better right back than he is a midfielder. If you look at how solid he has been in the majority of games, how many goals he has created and the three he has chipped in with himself, I don't think your find a better all round full back in the league, on current form.

Would go for: -----------------------Randolph-------------------------- Hateley----Hutchinson-----Craigan-----Hammell --------------Jennings--------Lasley-------------------- Daley---------------Hughes-----------------Law -----------------------Higdon------------------------------- Not one to be overly critical, but Humphrey hasn't had a good game since East End Park so I'd keep him on the bench, along with Murphy. Having both of their pace to come off the bench could be a decent option too.

Born in Bellshill, stayed in Holytown till just after my second birthday, then moved to Coltness, where I have been since. In my school I was definitely in the minority. As you can imagine St. Aidan's was loitered with Celtic fans, in my year at school, of those who liked football, there were two out and out Rangers fan, one who sat on the fence between Rangers and Motherwell, as he was playing pro youth with us at the time, three Motherwell fans and the rest were all Celtic fan. Never let the peer pressure get anywhere near me though and "Skippy Monday" probably ranks with the best school days I've ever had. Motherwell 'till I die!

I don't think Law has been hitting the heights he did in his first few games recently, but I did think he was one of our better players on Saturday. For the record, my vote went to Jenno.

Pearo did get capped at Motherwell, he made his debut against Holland in the 1-0 victory, that was November and he left to join Celtic in the January..

Exactly big man, this whole thing reeks of total ignorance. The group who have been creating atmosphere this season have been superb, you only have to look at the players commenting about it on twitter on a game-by-game basis, it is surely the product of something good, not "neddy" behaviour. The small mindedness of branding these boys "neds" when you don't know them personally is baffling. Anyway, back on topic, I think what needs to be done first and foremost is a change in procedure as to what Stewards and Policeman are responsible for at football games. Policemen on Saturday were agreeing with me that it was out of hand and they were only acting in such a manner as they HAD to back the stewards up. Surely the stewards should only be in a position to advise the Policemen? I suppose the Policemen could have been telling me this either to deflect the blame or to stop my questions. The bit that got me most was, a Policeman telling me he chucked someone out for calling him a "Fucking Idiot". I'm sorry but I thought Policemen would traditionally be more thick skinned than that. A "Fucking Idiot" is hardly that personal an insult, definitely not one that merits being manhandled out of a football stadium. I just finished working in the council call centre in September and I got called worse than a fucking idiot on a day-to-day basis but I just had to grin and bear it, and that was for £7k less a year than the Police starting wage. If someone offended me like that I didn't stop their bins getting emptied, didn't stop their street lights getting fixed etc etc. God help him if he has to deal with a murder or a rape if he can't take someone calling him an idiot without spitting the dummy. The main issue in this for me is consistency. I am lead to believe that the Police have only to get involved if the stewards have already approached someone and they have refused to comply. Yet, the first person who asked me to sit down on Saturday was a Policeman. A steward hadn't as much as looked at me beforehand. However, I told the Policeman he was taking the easy way out approach as all figures of authority do in Scottish football. I then told him I would happily park my arse on a seat once he had visibly communicated to his colleagues in the stand behind the goals we shot into in the first half to get all of the top tier sitting down. To this I just got a blank look. I'm glad Leeanne Dempster has taken our stance on this and even the Airdrie bastard Jim Traynor had a decent article on it. To be honest, all I really seek from this is clarity and consistency. I had a Celtic fan text me yesterday saying he thought it was a disgrace and he had been up there on the 2nd game of the season, stood all game, enjoyed it and didn't get as much as a word from a steward all game.

At this stage of the season (15 league games) this is how they compare: Sutty last year: 4 goals in 23 games Blackman last year: 10 goals in 19 goals Higdon this year: 8 goals in 16 games It just shows you Higdon's goal ratio is nothing to be sniffed at. It's slightly worse than Blackman's last season, but I dare I say it, I thought Blackman gave pretty much nothing to the team when he wasn't sccoring. Higdon contributes to our team superbly, attackingly and defensively.

Agree with you there MJ. Of the above I've only seen Hammell and Studs so I couldn't really comment. Still canny believe Franz Resch never got a menshy but!

Nicky Law has said on his twitter this morning that his back is goosed and he can't move. Obviously this isn't an official diagnosis but that doesn't sound too good!
-
Not that it makes me feel old, but it is weird seeing folk playing for Motherwell who are younger than me now!

New mascots improving the matchday experience? What a load of guff. We could be local and topical and have the new mascot be a personified version of Glencairn Tower.
-
Arnason for Iceland, Fallon for New Zealand and Fyvie and Jack for Scotland under 21s is my guess.
-
Had a wee pop at Rob MacLean for that on twitter MJ!

Yeah I'd go for pretty much the same tactics and set up as we did when we beat them 2-0 last season. Obviously the personnel will be slightly different. If you remember from that game Humphrey being set free on the right then the ref stopping play to book someone, that's the kind of way we'll get throught them I think (obviously not with the ref unnecessarily stopping play)

yo Aye me too. Hopefully our team in January will be. G.Smith Quinn Reynolds McLean Paterson O'Brien Hughes Klimpl McFadden Porter Clarkson Would be a bit too early to bring Sutton back.

I was convinced I would have made the telly for celebrating either of the 2nd or 3rd goals on Saturday. Having watch MFCTV, The Beeb and Goals on Sunday, I only managed on MFCTV! They didn't really show the fans celebrating at all on the actual telly.

Awk chill out. As you can see from my previous tongue in cheek post, I'm catholic and I hardly find it offensive! As for the game I fear the worst. Arguably, their only on form player is their right winger, who we won't be able to match with a recognised left back.
-
I thought he was pretty consistent in his first season. But I'd definitely say your admission describes his form in his second season.

I passed my higher English.......with the aid of a tutor. Does that count?

Remember the game well. Although he only played two games, Gunni Jonsson must be the worst Motherwell centre back I've seen. I remember being a distraught seven year old that night as the result put us bottom of the league. I also seem to remember a streaker in a Sky Sunday night game against Kilmarnock too. Around April 2000, I'm sure we won 2-1 and Corrigan scored the winner with his first 'Well goal.

I can see what people mean. If we did sign Hughes, we would have him, Lasley, Jennings, Hateley, Law, Forbes and Carswell who can all play centre midfield, not to mention Jonathan Page has featured there too. In theory we would perhaps be better signing a striker, but if Hughes can hit the form he did in his first season then he could make just as much of an attacking difference that a striker would.

I.e. doesn't contain Humphrey?
