Heart says Aberdeen, head says St. Johnstone.

Albeit on a smaller scale, Roy Essandoh is a legend at Wycombe. Players can be legends for various reasons. Other than the shout, I thought he was absolutely boufin in the cup final, wasted possession far too many times. As for signing him, it would be a good bit of business getting him on a free. Although he was a hit or a miss last season we have had far worse players than him and he would be great left sided cover. However, I think Saunders deserves a chance at centre back this year and the signing of Gunning may hinder that. I'd still go for a striker long before a defender.

Robbie Neilson has the "1 Scotland Cap he must be good" Aberdeen signing written all over him. Wouldn't be surprised.
-
Neilson or Broadfoot would be a no go area for me. Having four players capable of filling a position is an embarassment of riches for us. Granted I haven't seen Devlin yet so I can't comment there but I would not shite myself if I went to a game and Page, Hateley or Saunders were right back. Our first priority has to be a forward in my opinion. Regardless if Murphy goes (I personally think he'll be here for another season), we need cover. Take away Murphy and you have eight Motherwell league goals from last season in the squad.

Can see this being a game where we play well but don't get a result. Obviously hope I'm wrong, but it's been the case before on an opening day home game.
-
He'll give Page the nod at left back I'd imagine, more chance of him braking through than Halsman or McKinnon this season.
-
Not too downhearted about it. We still need a striker though. An EPL loan is the best case scenario.
-
Yeah I'm awaiting the posts on here on Saturday night, accusing Nicky Law of being found out against good opposition because he didn't score three and set up four.
-
Hateley's effort against Accies barely reached the goals. Higdon hit a few successful penalties for St. Mirren last night, but after that effort I'd give them to Craigan.

Don't really think we can use that as an excuse- the tops were revealed and on sale last year before we had a sponsor. Surely the designs were there before Cash Converters were confirmed in May. I'm not an expert in the field but I can't imagine it taking two months to add a sponsor to the top. The same week we revealed Cash Convertors as the new sponsor, they were on our warm up tops at the weekend. Many clubs announce sponsor's within the time frame and still manage to have tops out for the start of the season.

I saw Charalambous have an argument in Tesco in Cypriot over a bottle of Fanta. So at least one Motherwell fan got some entertainment out of him. Can only really echo what's been said about Porter. Fantastic penalty box player and the best finisher we've had since Tommy Coyne, but his wage demands in connection with his injury proneness might be too much. Would still love to see him back at Fir Park though.
-
Yeah it was Davies. He left after the 1999/00 season.

I notice we are the only team who haven't given even a glimpse of their away kit yet.

A stupid comparison indeed. I would love to see Faddy playing with Motherwell again, but I think we will be looking at a 33 or 34 year old before we can realistically think about it. Birmingham signed him for £5 million and but for injury he would have been a regular in their side last season. Gone are the days when players go from being a Premiership regular to an SPL team, it's even rare for the Old Firm now, They don't have the Gascoignes, the Suttons, the Lennons etc. If you look at the fact signing Nicky Law from Rotherham is considered a coup, the chances of Faddy joining us now are slim to hee haw. But as Yir said, nothing ventured, nothing gained!

Definitely his reaction at the final whistle on April 16, 2011. Legend

I thought the same myself, Andy. I thought if whether he was in contention or not, he would have got a run out in the Dumbarton game, given he had just signed from them. That said I have heard similar rave reviews like Sieb. As for Saunders, I'd much prefer him at centre back. His stature and style of play are more suited to centre back, I think we may see him and Hutchinson paired together a bit more often this season. It may be worth noting that the only time they have played together at centre back, we kept a clean sheet, beating Hearts 1-0.

I think Murphy is a cracking player, but I think the board would bite your hand off for £1 million.
-
I would start by erecting a statue of Ross Forbes outside Fir Park. I would then make it a rule that if you don't attend pre season friendlies against Dumbarton and Morton you weren't allowed to go Fir Park for five years. Missing the Leeds game would constitute a lifetime ban. I would give Esteban Casagolda freedom of Motherwell. In all seriousness, I would build something similar to Ravenscraig for Youth Development, only to be used by us. I would make a yearly financial commitment to youth development and give us the best scouting possible. Would buy the club with a sensible investment, but not gung ho that would see me lose my money.

Bizzarely, Hollis' new deal was all over the papers again on Wednesday. With regards to Sheridan, it was nothing to do with him being a Celtic player. He wasn't great in the air, wasn't quick, didn't offer a goalscoring threat. It was the fact he was pish is the reason I wouldnlt take him back.
-
I thought Lawless was being pushed about far too easily on the left, but coped better when switched flank. The only thing I would moan about tonight is the lack of communication for their second goal, Hollis shouted "Man On" as the ball was hitting the back of the net.
-
Randolph was absent, so was Jennings- who has just signed a new deal so I don't think it's a sign he's off. Good run out tonight. Murphy's goal was a superb strike.

What use is it supporting Motherwell if you don't rush back from your work and head out to Greenock for a meaningless kickabout on a Tuesday night? Honestly I question our fans loyalty sometimes. Anyway back to the game, is it not FIFA regulations that you can only use six substitutes in any game now? I remember reading something a couple of years back about a ref walking off at Craven Cottage because Fulham were insisting on a seventh sub and a qualified ref sitting in the crow took over.

Home top is neither beautiful or hackett. Will wait to see what the away top is like before I buy anything!

For me, it wasn't just the "FTP" incident that put me off Bob Malcolm. It was a whole line of events. The "FTP" incident itself would perhaps have been more understandable if it was a joke between friends, but how that is relevant to signing an autograph is beyond me. No wonder Scottish football is so bigoted when clowns can sign an autograph without bringing religious hatred into it. Also, the Said Chiba incident made me think he was scum. If I remember correctly, there had been no previous between them in the earlier parts of the game and it was so malicious it was unreal. The injustice of him going on to score the winner made it even worse. How after watching that you could welcome him to our team is questionable. To add to that, the fact that Derby had just washed their hands of him due to the drink driving and we almost undermined their discipline of him by jumping to sign him didn't paint us in a good light. If people are slightly over the limit, I can see how they can be caught out- but not falling a sleep at the wheel drunk. What's a taxi to a player who must have been on five grand a week? Finally, we had just let Simon Mensing go, who would have been on a lower wage and in my opinion could have done a better job. So for me regardless of the issue with the signature shirt, the bad outweighs the good. Especially when he didn't do it on the park (bar two free kicks).

Jennings signing for another season is great news, I hardly think he's the type of player who would lack in effort if he had signed a pre-contract so him being around for another year will be of great benefit to us. Don't think he'll sign a fourth consecutive one year deal, but you never know. As for Higdon, him being fit and on form is crucial as we have little back up, but last season he scored five more SPL goals than Sutton and had a far better goals to games ratio!
