Gannon was totally different to any manager we've had in my time. Whose to say the next one won't bring another completely different style? The players that have impressed under Gannon won't be swept right back under. Hateley is on a two year deal as far as I know anyway, and Coke hasn't played well since about September. I think Forbes has a huge future and is a fantastic talent, but he has also stagnated. Everything about us has stagnated in the past six or seven weeks and I think a change will benefit absolutely everyone.

I know, we don't know how lucky we are! Pros: Blooded youngsters. Gave us a stable start to the season. Made a few good short term signings. Left us in the top half (barely). Cons: Allowed many players to get stale. Angered many internal people. Angered the press. Angered the refs. Allowed many players to go stale. Left a team apparently lacking in spirit, camaraderie and fluency.

Yeah, I personally don't have any problem with Scott Leitch- but I do know of a number of 'Well fans who wouldn't welcome him back with open arms.

Gannon Sacked! Motherwell Part Company with Manager
Joeboy replied to steelman1991's topic in Club Chat
Definitely. Losing Ruddy and Jutkiewicz just now would be a huge blow for me, unless we got to play Flamaturi at home every week. This does seem like the right decision, but it is a huge risk given what time the decision was made. Interesting times lie ahead. Also, he has left us, similarly to McGhee with a lot of players contracts almost up. I count Moutouakil, Craigan, Coke, Jennings, Juktkiewicz, Smith, Lasley, Fitzpatrick, O'Brien, McGarry, Ruddy and Slane all up soon, I know not all are first picks but take that lot out our squad it does look quite threadbare. -
As much as Craigan is my hero, I wouldn't take him as manager at this present moment. I'd like him involved in the backroom staff at some level though. Gary McAllister I would like, and like I said the last time we were managerless I'd love Nijholt for his past affiliation but it could all go wrong! Calderwood I wouldn't mind either, think he'd be a right solid manager with great SPL experience.

Gannon Sacked! Motherwell Part Company with Manager

Heard a rumour that Giles Coke's recent omission from the team is down to a practical joke Gannon didn't see the funny side of and that he lost the dressing room along time ago. Fair play to him for blooding Hutchinson, Saunders, McHugh and Forbes, but I'm not sorry to see him go. The last time we were worthy of winning a game is taking us back some length. An he is an arrogant, ignorant prick who refuses to shoulder the blame for anything, just a slightly less dour-faced Jim Jeffries. He hasn't done his chances of another job in Scotland any favours whatsoever in the last wee while. -
The guy is murder. Yesterday he was just his usual dire self the full game, bar that one cross he put in. He shouldn't be commended for putting one cross in every three months. As I said in the other thread, I'd probably take Kevin Christie in front of him, he plays constantly like a dog chasing his own tail. Hopefully come Friday he'll no longer be a 'well player.

Definitely. Out of the defenders we have Hutchinson would be first on the team sheet. I'd say him and Reynolds would be our first choice pairing, which isn't anything to do with Saunders being bad, I just think Hutchinson is better. We definitely need a new right back, don't care what anyone says- Mouatoukil is rank. As for midfield I am unsure, we are loitered with midfielders although none seem to be setting the heather on fire at the moment, and I think we lose Jutkiewicz at least one striker is necessary.

I'm still quite undecided myself on the whole situation. To say things are going really badly and be sitting in sixth place does sound a bit arrogant. But I am growing less and less fond of Gannon with every passing week. All this front with the press and the referees I think is just clutching at straws, I think our poor run of form is partially down to mistakes he is mistaking and refusing to address. Any other manager we've ever had in my time (McLeish onwards) has been far too hesitant to make substitutions, but Gannon seems to be the complete opposite. So many times this season a player, particularly Murphy, seems to be just beginning to get the better of the opposition and are then hooked early on. He also seems to have an arrogance that makes him dislikeable, he takes any opportunity to hold Scottish Football in disregard. When I heard all the stories of his outspoken nature before he joined us in the summer, I slightly feared we were going to get a manager with the personality of Jim Jeffries and now it doesn't seem far off. Mind you, I'm sure I speak for most of us when I say, we've been through worse, we'll go through worse and we'll always go back.
-
Think Gannon's decisions are doing us over week after week. Jennings is the only player who gets pass marks over the full 90. Jim O'Brien was good in the first half I thought, he was needlessly substituted, he only seems to substitute players who are playing well. We look a shadow of our former selves these days, there doesn't seem to be any fluency or spirit in our player. Gannon definitely has lost the dressing room. And despite his first accurate cross in about two months, Mouatoukil left me thinking I'd prefer Kevin Christie at right back yesterday.

I know this might sound like a ridiculous thing to say, but the season we finished bottom was one of my most memorable seasons as a 'Well fan. Getting to the semi's that year was great, especially the Stranraer game, we got to see our own Faddy blossom into a fantastic player- his hat trick goal against Livi was quite something, and we managed to get our most recent victory against Rangers. However for those moments there was the 1 point from 33 twice in the season, if I remember correctly? And players like Vaughan, Sengewald, Cowan and Offiong. That season for me was what being a 'well fan is all about, as someone previously mentioned about the rollercoaster. Other than that for me there are two moments that stick out from the noughties. Fitzpatrick's goal against Hearts is an obvious one. infact that game as a whole was a rollercoaster in itself. From Craggo's first well goal (in the right net anyway) to losing the two goal lead, to Clarkson's shocking miss in normal time at 2-2, to Butcher admitting afterwards that he subconsciously substituted all our penalty takers. Was able to hold my head aloft in school the next day amongst a sea of Sellick fans, and it provided me with my first cup final as a 'Well fan. The other day that sticks out had the biggest contrast between good and bad ever. At the united game my cousin had pals up from Liverpool and Bolton who were begrudging paying however much it was to get in, when they could go to Anfield for a fiver more, and I was expecting them to turn up to a drab game after that statement, but I can safely say in my thirteen seasons of going to games, that's the best I've ever seen us play, but from that high to the worst low you'll ever experience.

Merry Christmas to everyone for the hour and three minutes which remain!

___________________Marshall_____________________ Corrigan_______Craigan____Reynolds__________Paterson McCormack____O'Donnell____Leitch__________Pearson _____________McFadden____Clarkson______________ Subs: G. Smith, Quinn, Hammell, McCulloch, Brannan, McDonald, Porter. Made that as of before this season, as others said 6 months out of 10 years isn't enough. The only players I feel would make a slant on it from this season are Ruddy and Jutkiewicz. For the same reason I left Simo out.

Haha, nice one Jonny. I have to apologise for the mid-robot spillage!
-
I'll add to that. Was very well organised by the the club and everyone seemed to have a great time, especially from where I was standing (or dancing!)
-
His goal return last season couldn't be argued with. However, there were huge goalless spells he went on. I mean as I detailed earlier 5 goals in his first 5 league starts really can't be argued with, but he went months without a goal after that before a double against Inverurie, who aren't exactly a great team. And I don't think he is very effective when he isn't scoring, and he hasn't been this season.
-
MJ has a far better goal return anyway! I think O'Brien will be a loss, but definitely replacable.
-
I've got till about March to redeem myself then? Like I said about Forbes, sometimes having a great start can be a double-edged sword, fair enough he scored five in his first five last year, but then he never scored again till we played Inverurie! He just doesn't cut it for me, the only times he's looked remotely useful was when he was scoring!
-
As I said Jamie, I wouldn't want Richie back, but I fail to see what Sutton brings. He isn't a particularly good target man, he's not fast or mobile, he's not that good on the deck, and his finishing definitely could be better!
-
As much as I think Richie Foran would be a step in the wrong direction and I wouldn't sign him, I'd take him in the team over Sutton. He is far more mobile and a better technical player and I'm sure he could reach two SPL goals by the 5th of December.
-
As expected though. A lot of the time having a great start as a youngster is a double-edged sword, that's all the fans know of you and they expect it all the time. All of the youngsters we've brought through have went through bad spells, and while admittedly Forbes hasn't been as good of late, players such as Pearson, Reynolds and Clarkson have been guilty of much worse slumps.
-
I don't think he'll drop Forbes, he'll either sub him at half time or shortly before the hour mark. The team I'd pick is: ________________________Ruddy_________________________________ Saunders_________Craigan_________Reynolds____________Hammell Coke____________Hateley__________Forbes_____________O'Brien _________________Jutkiewicz__________Murphy__________________ Subs: Fraser, Mouatoukil, Sutton, Lasley, Archdeacon, Page, McHugh. That is providing we are still without Hutchinson, Jennings etc.

A player with a great left peg and range of passing and a great engine wouldn't be playing with Motherwell. Simple as.
