Wonderfully put Melvin. As much as I've been impressed with Giles Coke, he doesn't seem to have an urgent bone in his body, which doesn't often help in the last twenty minutes of a game. I don't think Forbes has been hitting the same heights recently, but I do think that might be down to him being burnt out. Quinn and Clarkson are the only two players from last season's exodus I'd welcome back.

Roy Essandoh scored in an FA Cup Quarter Final, doesn't make him a great player.
-
I have nothing against Lasley, I think he's been a great servant to the club, but Jennings has been impressing me in his rare outings and I think he's about due a start.
-
I'm sure if you go to the game with 10 mins to spare next Saturday you'll have no bother getting one!

Like everything, I think it's hard to find a happy medium. With McGhee we were used to him bring on Lasley for McGarry in 86 mins, or Murphy for Darren Smith in 78 mins, etc. I am definitely happier with the way Gannon does things, and as I said previously, all his gambles have worked up until the last two games, where I feel they've really cost us. I've always believed in "if it ain't broke don't fix it", Gannon seems to pick up on any slight fault, whereas McGhee and those before him seem to wait till things were beyond repair.

I'll tell you one thing, I'd have Quinn infront of Mouatoukil everyday. Quinn could defend, and attack a bit, Yassin can't seem to do either effectively.
-
I notice they today they are on sale now. They become valid as of Boxing Day though.

Thought the substitution was a crazy one, that's twice in a row now. Every gamble Gannon took in terms of personnel has worked before the last two games, but I believe those two substitutions have cost us four points. In the first half we played really well, and although Aberdeen had two glaring chances, we seemed to be on top of them, and the diamond formation seemed to be working well, but for whatever reason Gannon thought it needed changed, and although he was by no manner brilliant, I thought that was the best Forbes has played for 2-3 games. It did feel like a defeat a bit, but we really can't grumble with one defeat in twelve, we do need to start getting a cutting edge though.

Yeah, went for Ruddy myself. Thought Murphy was really good today and as mentioned, thought he did better in his role in the first half than he did in the second.
-
I have to agree with Busta, other than the Rangers game I can't think of being really impressed with him. If we were an athletics club he'd be a great person to have in the team, but he can't defend, his positioning and awareness are suspect, and for how far forward he goes his crossing is woeful!

One goal in nineteen games is hardly inspiring!

In light of everyone that's missing _______________________Ruddy_____________________________ Moutaoukil________Saunders____Reynolds___________Hammell Coke___________Hateley_______Jennings____________O'Brien ________________Murphy________Jutkiewicz_______________ Subs: Fraser, Craigan, Sutton, Lasley, Forbes, Page, McHugh.

Aye find yourself a happy birthday thread, an R.I.P thread and post what song you're listening to (right now) and yer sorted.
-
I'd go for ____________________Ruddy__________________________ Saunders_____Hutchinson_____Reynolds________Hammell Humphrey_____Hateley_______Jennings________O'Brien _____________Murphy_______Jutkiewicz_______________ Think Coke and Forbes having a game on the bench wouldn't do them any harm, and that team has good width and hopefully Murphy can keep up his form!

He could be shite for all we know, but I'd say his Motherwell career would come under "unproven". I remember someone on here writing off Jennings after two starts and two sub appearances, we can be a fickle bunch.

Sorry big man, mistook what you said a bit there, still don't totally agree however. A family image can never do a club any harm in my opinion, families may come or not but I can't the youngsters who may go to games independent of their families being put off.
-
His second goal was great muscle and fight aswell, hopefully he can continue this form into club games.
-
Yeah exactly, if it's free flowing, fancy football you want to see, going to watch Auchinleck Talbot's hardly going to solve your problem!
-
What age did you start going to games at, 18? What other image would you rather they promoted? The way I see it, Fir Park has a family section, and those who want to enjoy the game as a family can sit there and I can't see how it affects those who sit in the East.

For me, football is definitely a results-driven business. Are you trying to say in McGhee's first season you enjoyed getting beat of Kilmarnock that day we were robbed than beating Gretna with a goal off Porter's arse? I love Motherwell playing good football, but I primarily support Motherwell to see them win. Results come first, everything above that is a bonus. And I could see your gripe if you were moaning about a defeat, but we beat Falkirk that day, I'm happy to take the win rather than doubting the manner we won it six weeks later. What's ski racing to do with anything anyway?
-
Was it not that they dropped him for Esson when he signed for us? To which he later won back?
-
From what I've seen of Fraser so far I don't think he is fantastic, or anywhere near the standard of Ruddy, but at the same time I really don't think we can be aiming for better in a back-up keeper. But as I said previously, the jury is still out, he hasn't played nearly enough to be judged.
-
Yeah couldn't agree more. When Craigan was out of the team last season I think that's as bad as I've seen us defend. We would have been relgation candidates if he hadn't came back into the team last season and steadied the ship. I don't think Craigan has done much wrong this season, he had a stinker up at Paisley in the cup, but other than that he hasn't done anything that badly stands out. His distribution isn't brilliant, and never has been, and it has gone mostly without complaint until now. The reason I said that I think his playing days are numbered is that Gannon doesn't seem to rate him. To be fair though, Hutchinson and Saunders have both been tremendous so you can't be over-critical of Gannon leaving him out, although I think him getting subbed last week was totally unjustifiable and contributed greatly to our downfall.

Mark McGhee just strikes me as a man with no sentiment to anyone, not his former clubs as a player or manager. The only reason he currently claims feeling for Aberdeen is he deemed it a better job than Motherwell but a worse one than the Celtic job he'd rather have had. However, it is a pishy statement to make just before we go to play them, but I don't think Aberdeen have the funds and I hope O'Brien would see this as a sideways step, if he continues his current form consistently he'll get a far better move than Aberdeen!
