  1. Not wanting to restart an old argument, but people saying Fraser is useless is just plain moronic. Maybe you've not been convinced by him so far, but Jim O'Brien took a while to come onto a game as have many others throughout the years. I'd definitely keep Craigan, as if he's doing his coaching badges I think he'd be a great guy to have around the club off the pitch, but as much as it pains me to say this, his playing days seem to be numbered. I think Lasley is still a useful player to have around, but I think he'd be far from happy about being behind Forbes, Coke, Hateley and Jennings. McGarry and Fitzpatrick I'd definitely let go. Both have been good professionals and servants to the club but we have far better options in other players. As for Darren Smith, I do feel he has something to offer, but he'd be behind O'Brien, Slane, Humphrey and Murphy for a game out wide, and Sutton, Jutkiewicz, McHugh and Murphy for a game through the middle, so all in all I don't really see much benefit in keeping any of those three.

    Jim O'brien

I think all McGhee's players were damned by faint praise when he was at Motherwell, he never did seem to go over the top on praising players. I would be surprised if he went to Aberdeen, they don't seem to have much more money than us at the moment, and it would very much be a sideways step! I think O'Brien has been fantastic in 2009, but I really hope we could get him signed, and he'd show some loyalty to the club who gave him the second chance.
  3. I don't think so really. The tactics maybe changed but the formation didn't, we were still playing a 4-4-2, just that Murphy is more likely to run at players than Forbes. A straight swap there would have been sensible. And yeah to be honest it's the one early substitution I've seen him make that's failed to pay off. Beats McGhee bringing on Fitzpatrick for Lasley or Smith for Murphy in 87 minutes!
  4. Although there is the odd draw I think we should have turned into a victory, I think if following us losing McGhee, you had said to me, by the end of the first round of games you will have lost once, playing football on the deck, with many homegrown youngsters in the side I'd have been more than happy to take it.
  5. I am yet definitely to be convinced by Fraser, didn't think he was up to much against Llanelli or Flamaturi, but I am sensible enough to see that no player at any level can be judged on only three performances. Aside from one horror goal kick to Saunders, I don't think he put a foot wrong today. Players getting on his back like so doesn't do anyone any favours. I went for Humphrey for MOTM. Thought Jutkiewicz was quite effective throughout, and only Humphrey and O'Brien's first half performances stood out at all. Everyone else was average at best. But only average on the high performance levels that they have set for themselves which they have to be accredited for!
  6. Haha, after reading that over I think I'm quite tired, bed sounds like a good idea!
  7. To be annoyed I was really annoyed we didn't take more than a point today. At the end of the first half we seemed to be on top of them and it was a case of when not if we scored. Forbes penalty was poor, there was a long delay between the award and the kick- which never helps. Unless Craigan was injured, the substitution was a questionable one, why not bring off a midfielder for Murphy? Part of me thinks he just gives Craigan 45 minutes here and there to keep him sweet. Especially considering we stuck with the same formation. Their goals were both poor goals to concede, I don't think Fraser could be blamed, although he did play a horrific goal kick to Saunders which sparked a funny petty argument between two supporters beside me. Jutkiewicz had a good game and O'Brien and Humphrey were fantastic in the first half- however the full team were worse in the second. To play as shit as we did and get a draw was comforting though, had we played to the best of our ability we'd have hammered them!

    Goalie Top

Yep, clean sheets against Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen, Dundee United, Hearts and Falkirk is especially respectable!
  9. Exactly, it's the type of situation I know I personally would be extremely annoyed about if the tables were turned.

    Goalie Top

Completely different colours and designs? I think not. Maybe you're just a bit more familiar with your shades of pink than I am!
  11. Anyone got footage of Van Der Gaag's goal?

I'd obviously keep Ruddy in an instant. Jutkiewicz the jury is still out on, but he seems to be steadily improving. For me Mouatoukil is a difficult one, I can see how he had so much potential, yet I can also see how he didn't fulfill it!
  13. Was mascot on 14th February 1999 if I remember correctly. Stirling Albion at Home in the cup, Shaun Teale was Captain. Lee McCulloch and an Eddie Forrest oggie made it 2-0 to us, the most useful thing Forrest did in a 'Well top. Was wearing the away top as were the team, nutmegged Goram, to this day still convinced he never let it in! Softie was manager of Stirling Albion, and had Buff, Eddie Forrest and Stevie Nicholas in his team!

    Hearts

Went for Hutchinson myself. Strength, maturity and composure beyond his years! Great prospect.
  15. Mitchell Van Der Gaag's strike against Dunfermline- Strangely my favourite memory as a 'Well fan. Fitzy at Easter Road. Partridge at Hampden, thought there was a glimmer of hope. Craigan's throw in. Faddy's goals against Rangers in the semi and on boxing day, and his hattrick goal! McDonald on Skippy Sunday. Any goal against Hearts.
  16. Was impressed with what I saw at the game yesterday, could only get up to the game about half three. Thought we were good at the back, didn't know whether Gannon would have the balls to play two teens in the middle but it worked, and I thought Reynolds was great at left back. As much as Hammell has improved lately, I'd stick with that back four next week. In the middle I thought Coke had as good a game as I've seen him have in a few weeks, and the front two linked up well. O'Brien is becoming explosive, only needs one to hit the net! Big mention to Hutchinson though, think he was terrific and will be in games to come!
  17. My prediction is one nil to Hearts. We will dominate the first half, they will score just at the start of the second half, we will have the rest of the possession after they score, but we will fail to convert it into clear cut chances as they will just put many men behind the ball. This is unfortunately my gut feeling and I'd love to be proved wrong.
  18. It's quite alarming I feel exactly the same way and I'm only 19!
  19. The sooner people stop comparing players to McFadden the better. McFadden was a one off, no one has came close to his ability since, and anytime we get an attacking player, being branded "The Next McFadden" can often be their downfall. Lets just stop calling players "The Next ...." and let them concentrate on being themselves. As for the topic matter, as I said in the Hearts thread, I think Murphy is good through the middle, as part of a 4-4-2, and I think the second half at Perth is as dangerous as our attack has looked- but you can't fit a system round one player who's not even an automatic pick.
  20. Yeah exactly. I was sat near the wee boys and they weren't entertaining me much, as those around me will probably testify. The shouts at the stewards weren't that bad I didn't think though, taking on a job like that you should realise football fans are very abusive people, although I'm definitely not justifying it. Also, the patter coming from the 12-14 year olds was absolutely reekin'!
  21. I'd start with:- -------------------------Ruddy------------------------------ Saunders---Hutchinson-------Reynolds-----------Hammell Humphrey--Hateley----------Forbes--------------O'Brien --------------McHugh-----------Jutkiewicz------------------- Subs: Murphy, Sutton, Jennings, Coke, Craigan, Moutaoukil, Kosiorwski. I would start McHugh and Jutkiewicz upfront, I think two would benefit us, especially at home, although I would be tempted to play Murphy and McHugh as the second half at St. Johnstone is the most dangerous I've seen our attack look. I'd drop Moutaoukil and Coke as I don't think they've been upto much lately.
  22. Reynolds didn't look as if he was playing left back on Tuesday night, any time he did get forward he left room tracking back, but most of the game he just played in the same position he normally does at centre half- giving us four centre halfs! I'd like to see what a neutral would have thought about the game, as I thought it was woeful but that was maybe just from my perspective. I am a huge Craigan fan, but he was woeful the other night, but to pin the defeat on him and him only is ridiculous. The only 'well player who could go out with their head held high is Hutchinson, in my opinion he should be first pick of all the centre halfs.
  23. I also enjoyed the policeman that thought it was a big laugh till someone mentioned his specs!
  24. I'll be honest with you mate, I don't give two fucks what time you left at. You are a paying fan and you are entitled to stay for however long you like, the point I was making is that if you are offended by a couple of weans calling you a part-time supporter, you must be rather easily offended. And for the record I did stay till the end, I'm glad you're pleased for me!
