  1. I've got the Sunday Mail, interviews with Craigan, Humphrey and Gannon in it! Anyway, I'd go: -------------------Ruddy--------------------- Saunders-----Craigan-----Reynolds------Hammell ---------Jennings----------Forbes-------------- O'Brien-----------Murphy--------------Slane -----------------Sutton Subs: Fraser, Hutchinson, Page, Coke, Lasley, McHugh, Humphrey.
  2. What can I say that's not already been said? Slane was terrific, trying not to get carried away by him, but he is making it helluva difficult. Forbes for me has been the best find, how McGhee didn't blood either of them is a mystery, however the loan spell at Dumbarton seems to have done him the world of good. Murphy was class, let's just hope he can maintain it. I thought Sutton was poor despite the many plaudits he is getting, I'll take another frontman anytime.

    Hat-tricks

I don't think Faddy's hat-trick game was Coach's debut, I'm sure he made it against Aberdeen in the November of that season, however I do remember it being Kenny Wright's debut and he had a flash of brilliance, looked as if he was going to score, until Lasley nicked it for his second!
  4. On the form of his first season I'd be gutted to lose him, but other than his equaliser against St. Mirren, I struggle to think of anything of note he did in his second season. Signing for a League One team says it all about his ambition!
  5. Klimpl doesn't sound like a Gannon player if you ask me, I can't see us going for him, however that comes with the gamble that he doesn't become a world beater like Vadocz!
  6. Yes, thirded. The guy is just doing is job. I think it is just moronic to criticise him for writing this story. The reality of it is that two people who follow our club (don't want to refer to them as fans) attacked an old man until he had two black eyes, and anyone who thinks that is an incident that deserves watering down should take a long hard look at themselves!
  7. I know McGhee was a fud regarding that. "There is no kidology about it, Jamie Murphy will start on Thursday night".
  8. For me, I'd say McFadden then Corrigan. McFadden is and always will be by hero, I was ten when he made his debut and twelve when he began to develop into a great player and everything about him was a joy to watch. His skill, his goals, his commitment and his work rate were everything I ever wanted to see in a player. As for Corrigan, he was just a class act. How he made everything look effortless and how he rarely resorted to lumping the ball up the park in a team almost build around that was phenomenal. I remember one seventy-yard classic run he had in a game in 2002/03, possibly the 6-1 game. Another player I'll always have a soft spot for though is Van Der Gaag, his goal against Dunfermline changed me from a wee boy that goes to the games with his dad to a proper Motherwell supporter.
  9. As a nineteen year old, I've only been a regular since 96/97 so my team won't be quite as good as many of yours. -------------------------------------Gordon Marshall--------------------------------------------- ---------Stephen Craigan-------Mitchell Van Der Gaag-----------Brian Martin--------------- Martyn Corrigan-------Scott Leitch-------------Phil O'Donnell---------------Jim Paterson -------------David Clarkson-------Tommy Coyne------------James McFadden---------------
  10. Fraser Saunders Craigan Reynolds Hammell Lasley Forbes Fitzpatrick O'Brien Slane Murphy Subs: Kosiorwski, Hutchinson, Page, Smith, McHugh, McPake, Meechan.
  11. How you can say O'Brien's never had any form is beyond me. Fair enough before Christmas he didn't look anything like a footballer, but since then he's created so many goals for us and been one of few outlets.
  12. I think it's about time McGarry went also. He came in as a striker, and in fairness he has never been given a chance upfront, but I can see why to be honest. In Malpas' reign, he always looked a tryer at right midfield, but that was all, nothing more. In the first four months of McGhee's first season, he looked fit, mobile and tidy, but after that he seemed to fade away, and has never looked lively, fit or comfortable since. To think we played a midfield three last season with him and Malcolm in it is scary. He is a first division quality player at best, commited or not, that's the harsh truth. As for Lasley, I have always liked Lasley, but people who seem to see the bigger picture tend to agree. Butcher never seemed to rate him, McGhee never seemed to rate him, constantly shunning him for the likes of Fitzpatrick, who wasn't even deemed good enough for the starting eleven on Thursday. On top of this it doesn't look much like Gannon rates him, and as I've said I've always been a fan, but it is true that he doesn't have the qualities to be a defensive or an attacking force, his days could be numbered.
  13. I think Quinn will be a far bigger loss than many people are suggesting, albeit if he is a bit of a liability off the park. He is one player who never holds back, whatever the occasion, and I have to say credit to McGhee, he did add an attacking side to his game, last season he was one of our best players and we will struggle to replace him.
  14. Aye I was the same, I dread to see how it will turn out after washing.
  15. I thought Sutton was bordering on useless tonight, I actually can't recall one productive thing he did? He is the worst lone striker I've seen in some time, does little or nothing outside the penalty area. McGarry was anonymous aswell. As ever with a expected-to-win Motherwell game we have lots of possesion and little chances as the opposition just match us and there is no plan B. On the plus side, the performances of Slane and Forbes were promising, not so much Saunders. Where were Fizzy and Daz?
  16. For me it was Ross Forbes, the only starting player to make a decent contribution. Slane did well when he came on too.
  17. Was always a big fan of his when he was missed. Had a great end to last season, and was our only defender that looked capable of sticking one in the net. However, his form last year let McGhee to trying to fit five defenders into a 4-4-2 which didn't always end well!
  18. I've been saying it for weeks that he is the one player in the squad that I would be devastated to see leave. From scoring an overhead kick on your full debut, to having an up and down two seasons, to then becoming a free-scoring Scottish International and player of the year, two seasons in a row, he's been through it all. I thought he would be at Motherwell for life but that was just idealistic thoughts, I don't begrudge him his move whatsoever. If anyone deserves better things it is him, from getting from where he was two years ago now to where he is now is remarkable. A great player and icon for the club on and off the pitch, an ideal role model, he will be sorely missed. The next no. 10 will have a lot to live up to from the previous three!
  19. Of all the players quoted in the Sun article, there is the goalkeeper and three defenders. Defence does need strengthened which is positive, the boy Josh Thompson they were talking about is 6'4" and looks as if he's seen a punch or two in his time, been a while since we've had one of them. He has only played nine first team games right enough. The other two look as if they'd be good signings, both first team regulars, managed a few goals each last season.
  20. Best of luck to Clarky! I'd have hoped he was going to be a Motherwell-for-lifer, but you can't blame the guy for having a bit of ambition and if anyone deserves a lucky break it's him, given all that he's been through and how hard he has worked to get to where he is.
  21. Although I think we are far from in perfect shape, there are some worse off than us. Killie haven't had a decent product of their youth system since Boyd and Canero. In Falkirk's case they have Arfield and Barr, although Barr only has one year left. The thing that worries me about us is the fact that we are going to lose another two important players, in top of the three or four we already stand to lose, and we have no one in line to find replacements for them, whilst all the other teams snap the available good players up.
  22. Clarky leaving would probably be the single biggest loss to the team in my opinion. In his seven years at the club he has been a fantastic servant, and although his form has dipped at times, he has always given more than 100%, and kept at it while many were against him. He has been our best player the past two seasons and although I wouldn't begrudge him a move, I am seriously worried about the state of our team. If you ask me, with 600/800k or however much we are supposed to be getting, we could never find a player to match his ability. Also in saying this, there is no way the transfer fee would be used solely to find a replacement anyway. Troubled times ahead.
  23. I think also we can be quite thankful that we didn't get a team halfway through their season, that was the main thing I was looking for in the draw. I reckon we will be able to beat them if we show them the respect they deserve and don't get complacent.
  24. The last time I checked "the poisoned challis that is Hearts" were in the top 4!
  25. I can see McGarry starting instead of Murphy to be honest. That way it gives us the option to switch 4-4-2 with 4-3-3. That line-up isn't too bad, but if Lasley gets injured at all this season our midfield will be snookered if signings aren't made.
